  1. Thanks a lot for your replies. You guys helped me a lot. ps: The best video signal you can out of the 3DO is S-Video?
  2. Hello everyone. I am interested in purchasing a 3do soon and I am in the process of saving money for it already. But the process of getting a 3DO is rather complicated becaus there are many models from different vendors. Is there a specific model you would recommend or all models the same? As I am going to use it regularly a clean image siginal is pa important thing for to use it with my retro tink 5x. Do have all models the same image quality or one model preferable over some others?
  3. Last Friday my Jaguar finally arrived and it is really a nice console. I am using it with Composite cable now and the Image quality is allright. But I am aming to improve Image quality. So I am thinking of getting either some S-Video or RGB Scart cables for my Jaguar. As I European Guy getting Scart would be the most logical choice because SCART is very common in Europe under normal circumstances. Atari Stuff is rather scare in Europe though so the only way to get cables is the order them online. If i can only find the stuff online I can get any cable I want. Scart cables seem to be more expensive then SV Video so I wonder if getting RGB SCART is really worth the extra Money when playing on Sony Trinitron CRT? What do you guys think?
  4. Old Point and Click Adventure I like, broken sword, the old monkey Island games, the old Indiana Jones andentures are also awesome. The X Files Game is also quite nice. If you like the old FMV Games and the X files Franchise. There quite a lot of These FMV adentures from the 90s. Some of them are quite nice, others are really bad.
  5. Thanks for your anwer. I am sure that the Framemeister is an awesome peace of Hardware but not worth the Money for me. As I have already mentioned I have already upraded some of my consoles to HDMI . The Gamecube and the N64. My Dreamcast has VGA. . My only no hdmi console left is the Saturn. And getting the Framemeister for just one console seems a bit over the top at least to me. I will get the Jaguar and the 3do soon and of Course I could use the Framemeister with These consoles as well. But for the Saturn I Need a crt anyway for Light Gun Games. The Jaguar and the 3do should also work very well with CRT. So getting a CRT is the best Option to me.
  6. Wow thats amazing that there even was a .40 Trinitron. But I agree. For my Needs a analog set is the way to go to have the best gaming experience. Actually I have no Need for a HD CRT set. For the hd stuff, from ps3/Xbox 360 onwards and for blu ray I have panasonic LCD. the Crt will be only used for Standard Definition stuf. I started looking around already and there quite a few trinitrons I could obtain. It is really funny to look around. Soon I will start contacting the first owner of These nice TVs.
  7. Did not know that there are also 32 or 36 trinitrons. Thats awesome. Would be cool to have a crt set that is not much smaller than my .40 Pansonic LCD. But to find a decent place for such tv would be a big Problem. It also should not be so easy to find them. For the 27 Version there would be enough space. @spacecadet I would not go that far, and say that Light Gun games are not fun on a smaller set. I am sure they are. But I want to get a arcarde like experience with my light gun games, so a bigger set is the best bet.
  8. @spacecadet I can get your point that moving the big .27 crt can be bothersome , but I can get some help for transporting it. So it is that big issue. The TV has also a certain place where I will put it and it won't be moved much after it. As keepdreamin already said i want to use the CRT set for lightgun games and in that case a bigger screen is the much better choice. I am willing to take the burden of the weigh and potential troubles with the transport. It is worth it to get a good gaming experience I guess.. @ 80s_Atari_Guy Thanks for recommding different models.
  9. thanks a lot for the further replies. @Austin I did some more research and it really seems that the PVM give the best image quality but they big ones are rather rare and also quite expensive. It seems that for light gun shooters a bigger screen is better to give the best gaming experience. A big set is also nice to play some early action adventures. I forgot to mention that I have got a PSOne too in the original post I want to use too on my new CRT set. Playing the old Resident Resident Evil Games and Dino Crisis on a a CRT should look nice. I do not mind using composite and S Video. Composite is the signal type I grew up with. was using it with my consoles till the first HDMI Consoles came up. Always looked nice. But I won't bother to upgrade my consoles with S Video if it is feasible for CRT usage. On modern panels LCD Panels S video looks really good.
  10. yes I will try to get at least a .27 set maybe bigger if possible. I have enough space for it so thats no problem. Thanks for the tip concerning the hd retro vision cables for the Saturn. Getting a RGB to component transcoder would be an option too. Although I am not sure if the RGB ouput of the saturn is really that better then the S Video cable I am currently using. I also started a online search for my future crt set. It will be very interesting to find a decent one. Knowing that I should get a late 1990s or early 2000 model makes the search much easier for me.
  11. Thanks a lot for the replies. @keepdreamin Yes sorry I have to be more precise. I tried to make my consoles as HDTV ready as possible. I got a HDMI mod, for the N64 and Gamecube. And for the Dreamcast I got a VGA Box and a VGA HDMI transcoder. Only for the Saturn I was not able to find a decent solution besides the rather expensiv scalers as the Framemeister and the OSC. And they are not worth the money after I have modded some of my consoles for HDMI use already. Besides it is not possible to play Light gun shooter on the LCD, so A consomer TV is a must have sooner or later anyway. Especially after I became intersted in some more older consoles (3do, Jaguar) I will keep looking for a good Sony trinitron as recommended.
  12. Hello there. I am new in this forum. I am a avid retro gamer and spend quite a lot money to play some of my retro gaming systems Gamecube, N64 and Dreamcast on my modern Flatscreen. But I am also intersted in older Systems that are more made for a CRT . I already got a japanese Sega Saturn and soon I will also get a Atari Jaguar and a 3do. So I need to buy a good consumer CRT or PVM sooner later. The consumer sets are normaly cheaper than the profesional monitors. Is the image Quality of the PVM really that much better than the image quality of a consumer TV set to justify the higher price these monitors are avaiable? Would be pleased heraing some opinions.
