I just got a 1040STf and an SC1224 off of Craigslist. It however, did not come with the cable to connect it to the ST, my version of the SC1224 doesn't have the cable built in. I cannot seem to find a direct 13 pin-13 pin cable, anyone have any advice?
Ends are available if you feel like building your own. I typically buy a cheap VGA extension cable, cut the ends, and wire up the DIN-13s. It's somewhat tedious, as the pics are very closely spaced.
If you don't want to to this, the ends are the same as used by Kenwood car stereo equipment for hooking up CD changers and Sirius/XM receivers. Those cables tend to be insanely long and rather expensive though.
Dug out my XF551 today, it has died in storage over the last 3 months:sad: Symptoms are: brief flash from the drive LED when turned on, Computer will not recognize that there is a drive connected. I have used my 1050 with the same computer/discs/sio cable/psu this afternoon and all is fine with that set up, so those possibles can be ruled out.
Any ideas where a novice should start to look for the fault? (I have basic tools, multimeter, soldering iron, hammer etc)
Check the solder connections between the SIO connector and bottom of the PCB. These are almost guaranteed to break on every XF551.
Since I've decided it's more "proper" to have "TLW" as the shorthand name for The Last Word (as referred to in the [enormous] manual), should I also change the name of the executable and config files? A small detail perhaps, but it's an extra keystroke...
Properly listed your program would be "Last Word, The" so I voted for LW.???
