  1. Not sure how I never heard about this, but PLEASE ADD ME TO THE LIST!!! I need one of these in my life in the worst way! Thanks in advance!!! :)
  2. Oh man... it got me thinking and I realized that the regulator I swapped was on my GameGear and NOT the Nomad. Man... I’m sure that’s it. Just ordered a few from Console5... I’ll let you know after the swap! Thanks so much for that!
  3. Oh man, I hadn’t thought of that... excellent call! I’ll look for a more robust power supply and see what I come up with. I’ll update tomorrow evening after a few tests. I definitely have a few other power supplies I could try. Do you have any idea what the max voltage I can supply the Nomad with without damage? I’ve been using a power supply that is putting out 10v very consistently, but I hadn’t thought about it dropping too low to power the Nomad like that.
  4. I really appreciate the replies and help either way! Thank you for that!
  5. I’m not currently, but I know I have the right voltage and plenty of amperage to work with... would be surprised if that was the issue, but certainly willing to explore any option at this point! Haha!
  6. The only pic I have at the moment is SUPER non-helpful, but shows that with the LCD powered externally, it works great!
  7. Ill def post some pics tomorrow (Im in DC for work at the moment). But yes, Ive hooked up there, Ive also tried hooking up near the power inlet at the top, and just for fun, literally anywhere else I got a reading of 5v (was to the point of trying anything, lol). However, so far I have done all of the testing with a power adaptor reading a pretty consistent 10v. I dont have a battery pack at the moment. I could probably rig one to test on batteries though. I should also mention that I have done a full recap and voltage regulator swap as well. So thats why at this point Im getting stumped.
  8. Wondering if anyone can help me figure out the last step here... I have a nomad that someone tried an LCD mod on and they burned out the composite output lead trying to do so. I was able to figure out that if I connect to the end of the capacitor on the opposite side of the board (where the lead traces to) and power the (newly purchased) LCD replacemt screen externally, I get signal and it looks great, but if I connect ground and pull voltage from anywhere, let alone the usual spots on the board, I get a brief flash of the screen/ signal and the nomad crashes and powers down. Any ideas where to start? It should be noted that if I disconnect EITHER the ground OR the power lead of the replacement LCD from the Nomad PCB, the Nomad keeps right on working, but the LCD obviously does not.
  9. @RestoLynx you just became my favorite person. I was prepping my Lynx II for a McWill LCD but had no sound and was trying to convince myself that I didn't mind... So I started poking around on the web and came across this post and your solution... Not only did it give me a starting point, but what are the odds... Mine had EXACTLY the same problem. Had it powered up and as soon as I touched L21 with my MultiMeter the probe bridged the bad joint and I instantly heard sound. I'm still relatively new at this stuff, so it probably would have taken me forever to even get to that point from a diagnostics standpoint if I hadn't stumbled across your post! So... Thanks!!!
  10. @karri Thanks for that info! While I'm a seasoned veteran at electronics repair, I'm brand new to the Lynx. Just by doing a quick google search for "Lynx Suzy" I was able to find a TON of info. I def appreciate that! So now the $1,000,000 question... Is there anyone still selling replacement Suzy's?? I'm going to snag up one of these nice little kits just to make sure my voltage is good and stays good for a long time - https://console5.com/store/atari-lynx-1-2-voltage-regulator-rebuild-refresh-kit-with-power-jack.html But if it comes down to needing a new Suzy, I'm not coming up with really any options online as of yet...
  11. @sirlynxalot Thanks so much for the reply. Definitely a good thought, but the ribbon cable looks pretty solid and I've had it out and back in a few times, so it seems to be lined up well too. Plus, I'd assume the main title screen would look the same if the ribbon cable was messed up? Still thinking on this one...
  12. BUMP! Any ideas? Anybody? Bueller? Bueller?
  13. Hey folks! I'm hoping someone on here can help lend some insight as to how I can repair my Lynx. Here is the issue: When I power up the unit, it reads the TITLE screen clearly from any game I use, but then becomes scrambled after it tries to load the actual menu screen and/or game. See the attached pictures. It should also be noted that it was doing this BEFORE I replaced all of the capacitors, and have since done a full recap and absolutely NOTHING changed. The sound works and music plays when the main menu is loaded (but scrambled) and it even responds to the controls, but the center of the screen is shifted way over and half of the screen is scrambled. I'm fully aware of the dark lines in the LCD... I did a recap because I was hoping this would fix the issue and was going to do a McWill screen mod install, but since it's not reading games clearly, I don't want to waste all the time and money yet. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
