  1. Absolutely amazing to hear! Been hoping to hear Minnie sometime in the future.
  2. Dragon Ball is one of my artistic inspirations in general so definitely expect some similarities I will say however that there will be a greater skew towards sci-fi stuff over the Oriental influences. Unlike the original Dragon Ball.
  3. The Pro Strikers It's been a hot minute but I am going to be taking up a new 7800 project. After several years of fumbling about with personal life setbacks, I finally feel I can dedicate myself to a 7800 game project, which I've dreamed of doing for years. Some of you may remember my LadyLady graphics demo from a few years ago. That demo was very integral in getting me started with the 7800. Since then I have used 7800 basic to create rudimentary demos to try my hand at an actual game and not just a graphical demonstration. This new project, if the forces allow, will have my stylized art and much more refined gameplay than anything I've done so far since I started programming. This project is known as The Pro Strikers which is a little nod to the Prosystem subtitle the 7800 sometimes has. It's a pseudo-sequel/ reimagining of a game I created back in college, and will refine and expand upon the ideas in that project. Any updates will go here in this thread. This will be playable demos, concept art, music, and developer logs. Since this project is in it's infancy, a lot of the updates for the time being will be concept artwork or pixel art. To kick things off I have an early render of the game's box art to share. I hope yall like it. I can't wait to share more and explore the ups and downs of development on this exciting project.
  4. Absolutely beautiful to see. I have always considered the ym2413 an excellent, era appropriate, option for 7800 sound. I hope to use this in a project one day. Amazing work!
  5. I know this may be an old thread but I wasn't sure where else to find this info. Do Arcadia 2001 cartridges have an audio line in the cartridge pinout, so that other soundchips can be put in the cart? I found a cartridge pinout online, but I'm honestly not sure how to tell if one of the pins is audio. Would it just be labelled AUDIO? This is the pinout: https://arcarc.xmission.com/Web Archives/Deathskull (May-2006)/games/tech/arcacart.html
  6. I absolutely love the weird clown aesthetic of this! Looks like a good title to check out!
  7. This is so true! Every person around my age I've introduced 2600 games to had a great time, probably due to the simple pick up and play nature, as well as that amazing crunchy sound design. It is a testament to how well designed those old games were.
  8. Has anyone on here lost a parent in their early 20s? I lost my father late last year and it's been rough ever since. How long can it take before things feel normal again?

Mine was 69, and he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer after we returned from Chicago. It started in his lower back, then went to his esophagus, up his back, and into his brain. One of my uncles also died from cancer back in '96 at the same age.

I lost my step-dad to cancer when I was about 30.  I haven't seen my biological father since I was 5 or 6.

Oh wow, sorry to hear that. Cancer is an unbelievably difficult thing to go through for anyone involved. Hope you are well now at least.

  9. I'd love to be able to make a splashscreen for this if that was ever on the table. Regardless, great to see this coming to 7800, looks fun!
  10. I didn't get an SNES until 2019, but what made me want one so bad was to replay Super Mario World, since I had only ever played the remake on GBA. Then after getting that I got to explore so much more of the library, IMO one of the best software libraries of any console.
  11. Sorry for dipping so hard, but I am no longer ill. Thank God it wasn't Covid, but boy it really kicked my butt hard. I'm only now well enough to return to school.

Zinc shrinks your winky? That explains why my little buddy is suddenly so small! Well, maybe small isn't the right word. It's growing backwards now and is poking out of my tooter hole. It hurts when I sit. :D

      Carry on!

  13. NES-Style 7800 controller arrived in the mail. Now I can finally stop destroying my hands with the Pro-Line.

I've been using an EdLaddin Seagull 78 for the past few years and love it. I much prefer a Sega Genesis pad over the squared-off corners on an NES-style pad. But nearly anything beats the PainLine!

Still prefer a real joystick for the 7800.  Most of the games don't feel right to me w/ a dpad, but at least you won't get carpal tunnel from the PainLines!

Here's a picture of the controller. I'm in love with the stripe.
