    Hello everyone!

I collect everything from Atari, you can see my collection at https://www.atarimuseum.nl

In the nineties I was one of the guys behind Stichting Pokey (The Pokey Foundation) and ANG Software. We published 60 magazines in Dutch, 3 in English and sold overstock from Atari as wel as numerous Polish games. If you want to know about the Dutch scene in the 80's and 90's, just ask me!

  1. The autostart option of the picocart supports only car and rom-files.
  2. Coolshop is an online store based in Denmark. They have many localized webshops for (mostly) Northern European countries. In The Netherlands they have a good reputation. Shipping is a bit slower than the bigger companies like Amazon.
  3. Afaik it does not work correctly on a standard 800. Though some people reported it does work after pressing reset... This was discussed in this topic earlier, that part of the discussion starts around here:
  4. In the development of the game Rotor II, which is a pong clone with a 360 degrees playing field, we tried several controllers: joystick, paddle, driving controller, trackball and mouse. We thought that paddles would be the perfect way to play this game, but they were not. Because paddles are not turning infinitely, they made the game harder to play. The standard Atari driving controllers were also not a good choice. Because of the low resolution of the driving controllers (the low number of pulses this controller generates) the player had to turn the controller way too many times to make a complete 360 degrees circle on screen. The best option was surprisingly the mouse. It quickly became our favorite controller to play this game. The mouse was the only controller that felt natural and the players were able to turn quickly and precisely in any direction. So I would say, try to find a tempest game that supports a mouse πŸ˜‰
  5. No, your GTIA is fine. It is a bug in a specific series of GTIAs, you are lucky that you have a good one in your 800XE πŸ˜ƒ
  6. You can still have the infamous GTIA bug in your 800XE, because most of them were built by Atari with this faulty GTIA. You can check it by running a Lucasfilm game, for example Ballblazer. If the intro screen does not look like this: your GTIA has the bug.
  7. "Any info / offers on this can’t find any with the same box" It is listed on Atarimania: http://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-400-800-xl-xe-frogger-ii-threeedeep_6779.html There is a separate forum for selling stuff πŸ˜‰ I don't think that you are able to sell this cartridge like you did with the 2600 prototype of Tarzan πŸ˜ƒ You can do a google search and you find plenty of pictures including the box.
  8. Maybe you should try the RF signal too. If the RF signal is in color, your composite cable is not correct. If the RF signal does not output color too, something else is wrong.
  9. The autorun is a standalone firmware and is not built in the normal firmware. You can find the autorun firmware here:
  10. As long as we do not know which emulator/core The400 will use, nobody can say exactly what the possibilities are....
  11. That is correct. The membrane keyboard was replaced by the third party keyboard.
  12. The libretro 800 core (with the crappy sound) offers an on-screen keyboard which includes all of the function keys. But we still have to wait until someone who is involved with the development of The400 will answer the question "which emulator will be used"
  13. You are absolutely right, but sadly no one of the Atari / Plaion employees available on this forum have told us that they will not use the crappy core. They are ignoring this question. MyArcade is using this crappy core too. I really hope that they will inform us about which emulator/core they will use in The400.
  14. Sadly Atari / Retrogames / Plaion have not responded to my question about which emulator will be used.... I assume they will be using the libretro 800 core and that one has crappy sound. The Gamestation Pro is also using this crappy core for 5200 emulation 😞 So stereo is nice, but if the sound is crappy, stereo will be crappy too. In my previous comment I gave an example of how bad the sound quality of this crappy core is: I sincerely hope that someone of these companies will tell us which emulator they will be using. Yoomp is also available in the Atari 50 collection (Switch, PS4/5, Xbox), so Atari (or one of the supplying companies) probably already has permission to make this game available on other devices.
  15. The bad libretro core would be a dealbreaker for me. The My Arcade Gamestation also uses this bad core for 5200 emulation. What I am worrying about is that there might be too much available now. My Arcade announced at CES a.o. new Atari controllers, the Atari Gamestation pro portable and another range of Atari cabinets (larger than the previous ones). ATgames just released the Atari Flashback 12 Gold, Plaion released the 2600+ and now The400 mini. I really like an Atari 8-bit mini and I would definitely buy one if the sound emulation is good.
