  1. I should explain further then. My draw - this box over retropie - is one of convenience and ability. As im disabled and mostly bed bound, I want something thatll sit across my lap, plug in and go right off the bat. I dont have working pc atm either, so retropie would be more bother than I wish (it was bothersome enough to get my nes classic set up, even though it was a simple procedure once I had access to a pc). Also the retropie kit setups ive seen seem to be small little button and joystick setups that arent much bigger than a joypad.as I pointed out in my op, I want something robust. I do want that 2 player control setup too, as when its not being used in bed, I intend to have a mock cabinet setup with a spare monitor and the unit sat below it on a stand, if you get what I mean. So, apart from the setup stuff with retropie, I have not seen anything approaching that level of controller setup, and even if someone did it, I doubt itd be much difference in price to the whole pandora unit in any case. I hope that gives you the picture more clearly. I share your concern about the problems finding the right unit, and regarding feedback. So, heres a starting point if you will. I can get this on amazon uk now if I wished. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Arcade-Console-Pandoras-Double-Machine/dp/B07H26VSFS/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1546793989&sr=8-7&keywords=Pandora+5s
  2. Generally speaking, Playstation has been slightly my favourite brand in recent years (well, the last 20). So naturally, I end up spending more times with PS games. Im currently playing - Earth Defense Force 4.1 (a brain dead shooter but stupidly cathartic, if you like that sort of thing) Gran Turismo Sport (frankly, Im not digging this one so much as previous ones. Something about the handling seems a bit off to me. Maybe more intended for wheel usage) Railway Empire (picked up on a whim recently in a 70% off sale, lovely little strategy lite game) WRC 5 (part of a bundle of WRC games bought in recent sale for bugger all. Ok, but not anything remarkable) Star Ocean: Till the end of time (already owned on the PS2, but again, deep sale victim) Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare 2 (the only EA game ive bought in recent years, and you guessed it - deep sale. About as close as im willing to get to "live services" *vomit*) Minecraft (because sales, and because addiction) Hard Reset Redux (an overlooked little shooter, with a really visceral feedback from mowing down tons of robots. Of course, from sales) Recently finished - Prey (absolutely loved it. Astraight up single player game with plenty of the hunt and collect stuff with bioshock like powerups and all. Good stuff, particularly when on sale, again). .hack//GU Last Recode (didnt get the original PS2 versions over here in britain, iirc, so of courseit popped up in sales and I bit. Glad I did - the 3 original games plus A NEW ONE!) Final Fantasy XII zodiac age (my favourite ff game, along with ix. Whats not to love about this?) Gal Gun Double Peace (I particularly love stupidity, and that doesnt exclude pervy stuff like this. Batshit stupidity is close to fun, imo) More telling for me is what Ive bought, also in those regular sales, or cheap online and either barely touched or not at all - Onechanbara z2, Akiba's Trip, Lumo, world of final fantasy, divinity original sin, warhammer vermintide, ratchet and clank, final fantasy xv, star ocean IAF, ys origins, I am setsuna, undertale. Resident evil 4/5/6, everybodys golf, wipeout omega collection, pier solar, the long dark, batman return to arkham coll, resident evil vii, horizon zero dawn, shadow of mordor, yakuza kiwami, assetto corsa, gta v, nier automata. the sexy brutale, dying light the following, project cars 2, uncharted trilogy, a hat in time, hob, dungeons 2, yomawari midnight shadows, the last guardian, and a few more. As far as the controller goes - I love it. I guess being a smaller guy, ps controllers are more suuited for me anyway. But the ps4 one is sublime. The right amount of tension on the joysticks and so natural to hold. Far, far more enjoyable and accurate for me when playing racing games than the xbox one, although that is still good enough. I try to use the ps4 controller on my ps3 too. Ive either not had a lot of luck with recent ps3 games not recognising it though, or sony have pulled the feature (I hope not). Apologies for the long post - thats just how I am.
  3. I picked up the original grey n64 release, boxed while the n64 was still on the go (most of my collecting is done at the time the consoles are still current). Picked up the Zelda Collection disc with Mario Kart (I think), which was a US import. Similarly, I got the Master Quest disc with Wind Waker as another US import at this time. I used to import quite a few games via ebay, before the lovely british government increased import duties and killed off my fun. Im really thankful I picked up both those extras, as I just went for them on a whim at the time, thinking that as theyre different to the standard release and cheaper than the standard for this side of the pond, itd be cool. But theyve ended up being oft revisited classics for me.
  4. Im a bit of a cheap arse, so my approach very much is to be patient, and get as much bang for your buck. So, ill happily wait years for games to hit a price point im comfortable with, and I never, ever buy games on release (except one or two indies, rarely). Being British, my biggest holes in my collection were the NES (as it didnt fare well over here) - I had the system but few games, and I viewed them as too expensive now as id missed the boat. Likewise the SNES, which was also a period where id distanced myself from gaming - partly because I was then a computer dept manager, and didnt want to come home to more computing stuff, and partly because I was djing in my spare time. Every now and then, id have a look at what gaming was doing, but there was a lot that I just didnt like from this period - I dont like fighters, and beat em ups not so much. So when the playstation came about, it hooked me back in, and I also became more aware of the classic rpgs and the like id been missing out on. But again, as they were too expensive, I couldnt be bothered. Thanks to the nes classic last year, this changed. ROMs ftw, essentially. But I still collect other stuff - ive largely finished off all I want to buy for the 360, and ps3, but still have a few original xbox, gamecube, ps1 and 2 I want to get. Again though, I dont have a target of "Im going to get x this year" because, to my way of thinking, thats against the band for your buck thing. I simply have a note of what I need, and just keep an eye on ALL of it until I see some that reach my threshold price. Plus this mentality of mine also helps, as you will inevitably have a large backlog so its never a case of having nothing to play. If I had to choose one system though that has been more focused of the older consoles, I guess its the original xbox. Im still finding games id never heard of, which is unusual for me. I do plan on getting a switch this year too.
  5. Sorry, im not familiar with intellivision programming, but as a general rule, couldnt you just use variables with a counter? Something like: print at 29 color $2206, <"\" 313+(cointwirltimer/10)> I know thats not correct syntax, but you should get the point. If you can just do a calculation as straightforward as that, its just one line.
  6. I agree largely. I suppose Im somewhat easy going, so I have kind of got used to a lot of it. Doesnt mean its good though, and I do dislike the MS tack of buggering about with the look every year or so, like they did with the 360. My biggest problem is its unreliability though. Im bed bound a lot of the time, and I have 10 or so consoles sat by my bed hooked up at any given time. So, apart from the gaming, Ill use the PS4 and XB1 for media streaming, youtube, et al. The PS4 performs far better for me, especially if you choose to put the console to sleep instead of full shutdown all the time. The PS4 remains fairly robust, apart from the shop, which will always restart if you view a long list of games. The XB1 though, will often sign out when theres a brief connection dropout (a problem which I am unable to solve at present), and no means to stop it doing this, which will exit you from games. Then theres the stupidly frustrating act of features randomly not working anymore for no good reason. Last week I had Game Pass all by disappear from access, which was truly bizarre as it removed some menu functions with it. Ive also had it regularly where, on the games and apps list, updates will not display and will simply sit there checking all the time. Similarly regular has been downloads just sitting there, refusing to budge. Add to these, the occasional Edge explorer not working, or clicking on an app does nothing at all, and its just been a mess. When I think of MS experience in creating Windows and they cant even get the edge browser to work well, well, its beyond me.
  7. Hi there. New visitor, but old fart here. I'm interested in getting one of those pandora 5s units (the one with the ryu street fighter overlay, 2 player controls), but am after some advice before I take the plunge. First off, let me be clear here. My reasons for wanting this is because im disabled and mostly bed bound, I need something that serves well for being sat up in bed, but also I can plug in my main telly and sit with my daughters and play. Ive got an nes classic for a lot of emulation of other games, just for ease. So please DO NOT recommend I try something else as its likely it isnt suitable. That said, my query is that these units are chinese, trying to find what the hell youre getting is difficult - naturally the number of games included varies with the weather, it seems. What I want is the ability to ADD games via usb stick, have vga and hdmi output, and be a solid unit with reasonable joysticks and buttons. Obviously due to being able to add games means I dont care what games are included off the bat, nor do I care about what pretty pictures the unit has on its overlay. Im in the uk, btw, and I intend to use amazon to purchase the unit, which goes around £109-145 depending on the seller. Is there anything I should beware of? Are the buttons and joysticks up to snuff, or would it be better to upgrade them in time (im ok with doing this)? Your time and help here is greatly appreciated.
