  1. I love old Roland gear so this caught my eye. It’s not mine but there’s one available on Reverb.com for $60 + $10 shipping. I know it’s not very cheap for what it is but there’s no such thing as cheap classic Roland gear. You could alternatively just use a MIDI thru box such as a Kenton Thru-5 but all outputs would be live at the same time and not switchable. Similar price and brand new but not as cool as the MPU-105
  2. There’s basically 3 ways do do it. I’ve used all 3 methods on my PS2’s. External USB drive - slowest and has some stuttering issues in some games as USB1.1 isn’t as fast enough but it’s easy to manage adding new games. SMB network share from computer / NAS which works a lot better than USB but a little fiddly to set up initially and relies on the computer / NAS being available and wired up. The PS2 slim has a built in ethernet port. The PS2 fat only has one with a genuine Sony HDD adapter. Internal hard drive on PS2 fat works the best, you can install FMCB / OPL directly to the hard drive & don’t need to run it from a memory card. You can’t install a HDD in a slim (well you can but it involves a lot of hacking / soldering). I’ve found the 3rd party (Gamestar) SATA adapters are buggy - games freeze and some don’t load at all. The original Sony HDD adapter with IDE drive or a SATA conversion kit works best of all. However to add new games you need to remove the HDD from the PS2 and connect it to your PC. I use WinHiip to manage games on mine.
  3. Where are you located? I’m in the UK and sold off all of my retro consoles and computers just before the lockdown. However I pulled my listing for my personal PS2 as I’d sold everything else that I wanted to and decided to stop shipping stuff. It’s a SCPH50003 in great condition with a genuine Sony HDD adapter with SATA conversion and a 250GB SSD (for lack of noise and moving parts) Here’s a paste from my eBay listing: PS2 console. SCPH-500003. Fully working and in excellent condition. 250GB SSD drive Genuine Sony PS2 HDD / network adapter with IDE to SATA conversion. USB > SATA adapter to connect the HDD to your PC to add more games. Official Dualshock II controller. Official composite video cable. 3rd party RGB SCART cable. PS2 to HDMI adapter & power cable. Official 8MB memory card. FMCB on official 8MB Sony card. (I recommend you keep this as-is and don't save on it. It's very handy to have if you mess up anything on the SSD) Power cable.
  4. I had one of the tynemouth boards in my 400 and was getting all sorts of random crashes, graphics corruption, collision detection and other problems including ‘birdies’. I installed one of tf_hh’s 48/52K boards and all of my problems disappeared straight away.
  5. This is now sold. sorry @EdgeOfPortal I don't have any Aquarius items. The next thing I'm selling is probably my Sega Mega Drive console & accessories (Everdrive etc)
  6. Bump £175 to AA users. This is now on eBay too. I’m happy to provide a link to my eBay feedback to interested parties. I’ve also had several dealings with FJC from the 8bit forums both professionally and personally.
  7. Please note, I'm in the UK and would prefer only to sell to the UK Sega Dreamcast Console with GDEmu & Pico PSU & Noctua Fan & HDMI adapter. All fully working and in great condition. As it is a 20 year old console there are some minor marks. Please check the photos thoroughly as this is the actual item for sale. Includes: Sega Dreamcast Console - PAL VA1 Pico PSU & power brick & cable. New battery installed in holder for easy replacement. Noctua fan installed. GDEmu installed (China Version) with mounting plate, tray cover and extension. 64GB Sandisk SD card - fits around 50-60 games. No games will be included. Photos of GDMenu & games for demonstration purposes only. Kaico HDMI adapter. This is about as good as it gets without a full DCHDMI modification. Screenshots in this listing are photos taken of a LG 1080P LCD TV via this adapter (TV not included) Official controller Third party memory unit (not a VMU) Official rumble pack Third party composite cable Please note the GDEmu replaces the GDROM drive. There's no GDROM drive included with this console. Price: £199 posted to UK If you have any further questions, please send me a message. I'm more than happy to answer them. I'm going to be selling off all of my retro games systems and computers in the coming weeks. Atari VCS 6 switch & 2600JR (AV modded), Atari 400 with SCCC & 48/52K, Atari 800XL, Commodore 64 breadbin and C64C, Nintendo Super Famicom, Nintendo N64, Sega Mega Drive, Sony PS1, PS2 & PS3 etc.. If you're in the UK and interested then please let me know and I'll prioritise those.
  8. I use a USB PSU with my 800XL. It’s just an Atari DIN to USB cable that I bought from eBay. I’ve tested it with Samsung 2A, Apple 1A and plugged direct into a USB3 port on a PC with no problems using a Lotharek SIO2SD device.
  9. Basically the 1st computer I owned that actually generated sound was an Atari 400 then the 800XL.. from there I moved on to C64 and Atari ST which lead to MIDI and hardware synths.. I released a couple of records which ended up with me working for Domark / Kremlin / Eidos. In 1999 I moved over to Criterion but was pretty burned out by the industry by then and in 2000 I left and just did pro-audio stuff for about 5 years. From 2005 however I decided to separate my career and hobby and have been working in tech but not video games since. I've been lurking on AtariAge for over a decade. I don't post very much at all as most of my questions are already answered as there's people here with far more Atari 8 bit knowledge than me.. but I find it all still fascinating.
  10. I was the in-house sound designer / musician. I worked on pretty much everything from Sega Mega Drive thru to PS1. Prince of Persia, Marko's Magic Football, more Championship Manager conversions than I care to remember, Blood Shot, Total Football, Crimewave, F1, Deathtrap Dungeon etc.
  11. I’ve got a PAL 400 with both tf_hh’s SCCC and RAM upgrade and it’s a great machine. The RF modulator started to fail on mine with drifting tuning so I sent it to FJC for a composite mod. I wasn’t happy with the result so I sent it back and Jon removed the mod and installed the SCCC for me. The output is amazing even over composite and looks better than my 800XL via the built in monitor output. However I was getting random crashes, failed loads over SIO2SD and ‘birdies’. I discussed this at length with Jon and reflowed tons of points on the board for the CPU, RAM, SIO sockets but it didn’t fix it. I took a gamble and installed tf_hh’s RAM upgrade in place of the other 3rd party 48K upgrade I had installed and all the problems went away. So that’s a rather long winded way to say tf_hh’s upgrades for the 400 are highly recommended
  12. Looking for any one of these machines in excellent condition & fully working with PSU if possible. Decent price paid for decent example. Many thanks.
  13. Many thanks for your replies DrVenkman & SS. It makes a lot more sense now. After testing last night I kind of came to the conclusion that it was because I was powering from SIO. I had the unit working but was always booting to sdrive.atr and then selecfing an image. Do you know what voltage I should use? Ive got a multi voltage universal psu with 4.5v 6v 9v? I dont want to fry the unit. Also I apparently need to disconnect a power wire inside before using a psu.
  14. Ive just got one of these and Im struggling with it a bit. Ive used SIO2SD and SIO2PC in the past with no problems. I dont really want to be using the SDrive.atr software. Preferring to select the disks on the device itself. With SIO2SD I could select an .ATR image, power cycle the Atari and the disk would load. With SDrive when I power cycle it seems to forget the selected disk and just boots to Memo Pad (Im using a 48K 400). If I select another disk then press reset its back to Memo Pad. If I power cycle then the disk is gone. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a setting Im missing ? There doesnt seem to be documentation of the settings on the device itself - Ive tried the Boot D1 setting.
