  1. can't believe this thread is still around. epic.
  2. I think I saw some of these Joysticks at Wal-Mart a few days ago.... I didn't really look too closely as it's kind of like been there done that but I didn't notice if they had USB connectivity or not.. ETA: Never mind I didn't bother to click the link until after... Add a Atari PIP to the list though. I dig the new USB joystick... kind of makes my Stelladapter obsolete now.
  3. Joystik Magazine this link has 9 magazines completely scanned. There was also "Video Game" and "Electronic Games" and "Electronic Fun"
  4. GroundKontrol is a MUST VISIT. Any time I make it to Portland I have to go there. Word to the wise, parking is a PITA take the train instead it stops on the corner no parking nazis to worry about and over priced hourly parking. It's pure old school arcade goodness. I looked for Wunderland in Portland last time I was there and couldn't find it... the pics I found on the intarwebz were less than impressive IMO.
  5. Yep, count me as being regretful of selling. I had a collection of 15 full sized arcade games and decided to sell them instead of getting a storage locker. That was 5 years ago now. What I didn't think about is I could have had a storage locker and stored them almost indefinitely for the 7 THOUSAND dollars it would cost to replace them. I sold them for $3000 (I took a loss to sell them quickly) But I'd rather still have the games. Now they are gone... forever.
  6. Sure I'd be neat to have a NOS rotary style TV but $200 is just too much IMO. That seller reminds me of a lot of coin-op operators that have a very inflated opinion of what their stuff is "worth". After January 2009 those $200 NOS tvs are going to be worth even less. I would say $75 to $100 max for those.
  7. Local Costco has Mercury Meltdown game in a twin pack with a remake of the Midway classic Rampage. Picked on up last week. I'm waiting for christmas to open though.
  8. Atari plans? That's news to me. Nothing to add except I really wanted one of these for xmas this year.
  9. Atari Stock listed as the #1 worst stock of the last 10 years! Of course 4 years ago when I bought my Infotari stock for $1.50 a share it shot up to nearly $4 a share within 4 months of buying it (It was listed as a hot stock from this exact same website that is dissing it now ). I should have sold, the stock has been in free fall ever since. But when it crashed it crashed hard and fast. Then came the 10-1 reverse stock split. So my 100 shares (that I bought for $150) are now 10 shares worth $20. BTW the overall stock price adjusted with the reverse stock split so the numbers I gave were accurate just not reflected in the stock price history... This stock to me was like going to Vegas... I knew I would lose in the end... But I do have a nifty infotari stock certificate http://www.fool.com/investing/small-cap/20...rst-stocks.aspx
  10. E.T. is hardly the game to show that old school Atari games don't suck. To me the n00bs complaints of "this game sux" would be completely valid. Give them a button mashing shooter... the end result will be the same the n00b will be pwnd.
  11. Thought I'd post my code directly from my Wii. grimbasement: 8298-6310-3246-3254 (grim)
  12. I look like a complete fan boy but still it was great to meet him and chat for a few minutes. He expressed regrets that he sold Atari to Warner. He said they offered him more money than he thought he would probably ever see in his life (Turns out he was probably right). and said what a tragedy that Warner and later Tramiel ran it into the ground. Additionally he said that Atari wasn't really a gaming company but a research company using games to innovate. He said unfortunately Atari had grown just about as much as it could have with the current venture capital and he needed the deep pockets of a mega corporation. But R&D are not strong points of entertainment companies like Warner. Like today all entertainment companies are formula driven and not into the R&D side. He also said he would be interested in buying back Atari and bring interactive entertainment back to the US and that it's a tragedy that an industry that started in the US has so little influence in the gaming industry. Note that this was in 2001 when Sony had a huge market share. He noted that there was the "x-box but really, who can get excited about Micro$oft?" Finally he had a lot of contempt for the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) saying that the patent process significantly slows down the development process and getting ideas to market. It used to be that patents could protect the little guy with an idea. But now there companies whose sole purpose is to patent ideas and then go after anyone who might use that idea in any product or process even if they never intend to manufacture or market the product or process. It's a real racket called patent squatting. I work for a patent law firm and I think he's absolutely right. Grim meets Nolan Bushnell
  13. I don't think that this is a big deal because I've had this box in my collection for a couple of years now But I never actually noticed the different artwork before and I didn't see it in either the AA or Atari Mania database. In the picture you can see that this box came with a text label cart and the traditional/more common artwork on the instruction booklet. Just thought it was neat. Does anyone else have one of these? I can make a scan if it needs to be added to the database.
  14. I have the Classic NES gameboy SP and would really like to mod one of the newer brighter SP screens. Anyone know if it can be done? I may break down and buy a DS some day but I don't like the DS "mooshy" buttons. I've thought about buying one of the brighter DS and getting a nice skin for it but I like my classic DS.
  15. I feel your pain I did a 6 hour yard sale trip (hit about 20 of them). Only thing I found was a box of Intelivision stuff. 2 loose intelivision consoles and about 25 games in boxes marked at $40. I passed because I hated the INTV back in the day. Crap console IMO. My sister had a INTV and playing pitfall on those damn controllers was nearly impossible.
