I just spent the weekend fixing my 5200. I fixed the color on my 5200, re-calibrated the controllers and replaced the flex boards. lot a work but well worth it. My 5200 works better now than ever. I think it needs some more tweeking but now it works. Over all great system. I also found pacman defender super break out and Kangaroo MIB for $20. I now have 10 5200 games. I also repaired my 2600 joystick and added a few more games. I now have 105 2600 games. nowhere near a complete set but will never own that too many one of games and such. My collection is going well. 60 in box games but not going for all in box just when I can get a great deal. I think I am like most collectors I want the games not something just to sit on the self. One thing that I hate is MIB people IMO why have a game in an unopened box. Games are meant to play and enjoy not just look at. I also feel a collection is what you say it is. No one has the right to say your not a real collector or a true collector has this or that. I have never bragged what I have though if I get a treasure I wanted or really like I will show it to people. Mainly because it excites me not so I can say I have this and you do not. Thats my thoughts anyone else have theirs. My pride and joy in my Atari 2600 collection is my first release 2600 Sunnydale heavy 6er. My mom belonged to this "club" where they sent you free stuff to try and keep and by some miracle we got a 2600. It has promotional use only not for retail sale. Its also carved into the bottom of the system. very deep so it cant be removed. LOL will never sell it but its still cool I had the original controllers but they were lost they were also stamped not for retail sale on the bottom. I remember it had bright orange almost red fire button. My favorite game I have is the combat game it came with then I would say adventure and berserk. still play those games. Anyone have a pride and joy of their collection?

got a great deal today. Finally replaced my 5200. Got one in Box 2 controllers. was sold as broken I took it home and cleaned it good removed some oxidation from mother board and it works great. One of the controllers works the other may need a new board but all look nice needs a back door cover. all this for $70. The box is in great shape system is clean and controllers dusty but good as well. Is there a place that sells repro covers for the back? if so where. Thanks still totally stoked Omega

Just wondering what everyone's favourite 2600 game. Mine would have to be adventure. This was the first game I bought with my own money also the first game I ever beat. Even today I get it out and play it it is still fun and on 3rd setting can still be a bit of a challenge. Bezerk would have to be my second favourite. I would say Pac man is my 3rd Yes don't kill me for that LOL. I just loved the game I got it for my birthday and was so excited my friends loved it too. Back when this was first released most people loved it I think today it gets a bad rap yes it did suck by today's standards but all in all I liked it. any thoughts out there?

The mother of all video games for an Atari 2600 owner and the first pack in game. My Atari game it came with my promotional release only Atari 2600 It had the box even. Though it had a red box and not the all black one so go fig. I was 8 years old controlling a MFing Tank. there were so many options invisible tanks bouncing shots etc. I was hooked The gameplay was awesome you could fight friends my brother or even the computer. It was an awesome game for an 8-year-old..but does it stand the ravages of time? Let's see. Graphically like all 260 games, they were poor, But who cares about graphics when you have the fun factor. I will say yes it stands the test of times I played it years ago with my nephew and he was excited even got mad when killed and wanted revenge it is addictive and fun. proving graphics are not everything. The play field is bland but engaging. You have to use strategy and can't just run and gun. With all its shortcomings it is still a great game with hours of replay even today I play it at least once a week. Sound well sadly since I was 8 I have gone partially deaf so the sound is not an issue with me. However, the sound is basic with nice explosion sound when shot but no background noise. It still has great sound effects simple but satisfying. My overall rating on a scale of 1 to 10 is an 8. it may be nostalgia talking but I will say its still a great game. Welcome any other thoughts. Though I currently do not own a 5200 ( Hey I will take donations LOL). I have played the system. It was a great system graphically superior to the 2600 and even on par with the 7800. So why did this system epically Fail?? There have been tons or reasons and it has in some ways been talked to death. But I will give you my first-hand thoughts and reasoning. 1. The controller was ahead of its time and poorly designed. The first Major mistake was using a cheap flex board for the controller. Also not making itself centring was a horrible idea. However, its major flaw was it was ahead of its time. Most people were not ready for an analogue joystick. They were use to the tried and trie 2600 style joystick. Intellivision disc controller proved that. People were not use to very precise movements and control. The second problem was it had too many buttons. The controller was overkill. Had the 5200 lived longer it may have used them. Star Raiders, for example, would have worked great on this controller and maybe even raiders of the lost ark. You could have simply pushed a button for inventory select. It would have been great but programmers really had no idea what to do with it. 2. The lack of games and not being backwards compatible. Most of the 5200 games were simple upgrades of 2600 games. Yes, the graphics were better but why would I buy another centapied if I already own one. There were very few new games for the 5200 and a small selection when the game system came out. Add to all this the pending video game crash where there was a glut of 2600 and other games It did not have a must have game. Pacman as a free game was a great idea and looked great but with the poor controller, many were not happy with another "crappy" Pacman game. he 5200 was doomed from the start. Retailers were nervous about carrying 2 atari systems plus a Coleco and Intellivision system and a ton of games for all the, Now we have a 4th system and games plus add ons It was a disaster in the making. 3. Atari makes a new 2600 cheaper but now also competes directly with the 5200. This was a bad decision. The game crash is coming Atari has basically 2 new systems they Update the 5200 to fix some issues so in theory at the same time you had 2 different 2600 systems 2 5200 systems and the list goes on. These decisions helped kill the 5200. If they got rid of the storage compartment made the system smaller and a better flex board the 5200 would have done better. 4. Lack of support and game crash. This says it all The 5200 was the system no one loved or wanted. It was supposed to be a game changer and in many ways it was but do to poor advertising marketing design and support it was doomed to fail. I loved the 5200 and hope to add it to my collection soon. There are now many new boards and controllers out for this system that will breathe life into it. Those are my thoughts would love to hear others veiws. Omega Supreme

I would respectfully disagree. I say they are speculators and not collectors. IMO a collector is a person who wants to complete a set of a certain thing. This may be all 2600 games or just the arcade ports ect. Collectors want to acquire items not just sell them. This is what investors do or speculators..

Thats what I thought. I could not think of Taiwan Cooper. They just repackaged CCE games which were doing Atari 2600 games with permission. I am not sure how rare it is They also made Colecovision games. I have Their Burgertime one.

First Blog Post: This blog will be about my thoughts on old 80s games and Toys. My first video game system was really a Coleco Telstar system then the Atari 2600. I was extremely lucky and got a Promotional use Atari 2600. I still have the system but have misplaced it I hope to find it as it was a heavy 6er Sunnydale. I currently Own another 2600 early addition 6er. Colecovision and a Intellivision. I have over 100 2600 games with 60+ boxed. My Intellivision set is 50 boxed games Colecovision only 20 with one boxed. What I like is the collecting I often trade or give away copies of my extra games. I do not like people who claim they are a collector because of this or that I feel that anyone is a collector and I ate game sealers. Why have a game if you cant enjoy it. I have bought several sealed games and opened them to play them. I only have one sealed game and that's because its a copy and a crappy game. I am tryng to find more about this game. so If anyone knows about it let me know. Its a pink a pink Box and is a NTSC version not pal.. anyone have any info on this? I have pics and would also like to post it on the guide but dont know how to. I will be doing reveiws of Games and maybe even toys. Mainly G1 Transformers..I do not really have enough Megos to do any great reveiws... Omega Supreme

Not a very good game in fact it sucks but I have not seen this game in this Box before. I got it in a lot of other games from Argentia from Ebay. I am not sure Who made the Game but I think its CCE. I have enclosed pictures of the Game Its still sealed in box but the other carts from the Lot were Black in color and North American not Pal. Has anyone else seen this?
