Serial numbers suggest 20,000 units made. Current sales reported on Amazon: .com = 900+ .co.uk = 200+ .ca = 100+ .de = 100+ .fr = 50+ total = 1350 (probably close to 1500 when considering the '+') Of course there's other shops and other countries selling THE400 but probably in small numbers.

Please update if you do this.

Get rid of the dogs.

After further play with mine I've had no trouble. I stuck it in my PC and checked it using the windows system as outline in this post No matter what pressure I used the stick reported the correct direction. My conclusion is either a) You guys are a bunch of amateurs and don't know how to use a joystick. or b) Atari have some dodgy manufacturing and quality control.

Is someone already doing this? Where's the info from?

Without thinking I just used my Samsung brick and it worked fine (5v/2a & 9v/1.67a QC)

Curious about how many have been sold, is the serial number simple the production number? Also, maybe the quality of the joystick (which many seem to have a problem with) has anything to do with when it was produced. Please post your number, location of purchase, and if you have any problems. Also, if you got yours in a press kit please state this too. Got mine and I've had no trouble with the joystick, but I do have the hands of a lady. Not had a problem hitting the shoulder button by accident either but I guess that depends on how you're used to holding the stick.

Someone needs to tell Atari that we're not 12 year old boys anymore.

Apparently it's designed this way, light touch is good for L/R/U/D and firmer use is better for diagonals - stupid idea if you ask me.
