  1. Steve got back to me overnight (with many apologies) and is shipping out a new unit. Thanks Steve!
  2. I did start out with a flaky SD card- the Ultimate SD would boot but wouldn't read it. That card actually shipped with the cart, so I formatted one of my own and I was up and running for about an hour. Suddenly the screen froze, and when I cycled power on the CV the cart wasn't recognized at all. I either get a black screen or the standard CV error that says to insert a game cartridge. All my other cartridges work just fine.
  3. I've heard it sometimes takes Steve at Atarimax a few days to get back to you, which I don't have a problem with. I know this is a side project for him and presumably a labor of love. His products are unique and very cool. I purchased the Ultimate SD cart, and sadly it gave up the ghost within an hour of use. I emailed Steve, and after a brief back and forth I haven't gotten a reply since October 18, despite reaching out roughly once a week. Is there a better way to get a hold of him? Thanks in advance. Bill
  4. A few years ago I picked up a Dingoo A320 handheld and installed Linux (Dingux) on it. It runs CV games pretty well but the lack of a number pad makes things slightly confusing.
  5. I also have a IIgs setup with a 4MB RAM upgrade and a compact flash card for storage. It's good fun! http://www.whatisthe2gs.apple2.org.za/ is a great site, as mentioned above. Definitely give Zany Golf a spin if you want to see what the GS is capable of (the GS standing for "graphics" and "sound," of course).
  6. I now have two of these little guys- I use one with the native emulators and the other one I have set up as a dual boot system with Dingux, the Dingoo Linux distro. I find myself using that one almost exclusively on the Linux side of things. The dev community is really pulling out all the stops with tons of really high-quality emulators and PC ports, and a pretty slick user interface. Check out this page where the author is posting self-contained Linux images for download and easy install: http://a320.freeforums.org/fat32-sd-image-...-2009-t813.html All in all, if you follow the instructions to flash the firmware for dual boot it's pretty painless. And it's nice to have an entire MAME arcade in your pocket.
  7. Space Invaders with the Sears label.
  8. I've been pushing one of these around for about a week, and I have to say it's a pretty addictive little toy. The emulation is a mixed bag (GBA and NES is very good, the Genesis is pretty lousy) but overall it performs well and has great potential.
  9. This is great, concise information. Thank you! I totally agree about having a stand-alone Genesis clone. I got burned on eBay buying a "good" used Genny (the thing was in awful shape and was unusable), so I thought I'd go as "new" as possible. The FC3Plus gets relatively good marks for compatibility and accuracy on the Sega side. shows the FC3 up against a first generation Genesis and an FC Twin running Sonic. Looks and sounds pretty good to me- the Twin does NOT!
  10. If the Yobo controllers are compatible across systems, does that mean I could pick up NES/SNES specific ones to use with the FC3? That would at least give me proper A-B button position...
  11. Thanks, guys. SAG, I tried to buy the FC3Plus from you, but it was out of stock!
  12. The inner geek in me broke down and I picked up a new Yobo FC3 Plus (NES+SNES+Genesis) console for $50 shipped. I have old games but no original systems to play them on. After much research I see that the biggest flaw is the proprietary connectors for the controllers. Does anyone know of any adapters that would allow me to hook up some authentic controllers? Or, are there any pinout guides to retrofitting better controllers to the Yobo-style connector? I don't pretend to be extremely tech-savvy, but if I picked up some spare parts I'd be happy to give it a go. Thanks in advance!
  13. We saw the Mickey Roarke movie "The Wrestler" this past weekend, and there's a scene where the main character fires up an NES to throw down with a neighborhood kid. The game looked NES like, but the sound effects were a combination of Pac Man and Donkey Kong, both the 2600 versions. I've heard the Pac Man sounds before in other films and shows. They must be in a stock sound effect library somewhere...
  14. You can also Google "burgertime flash" (without quotes) and find a handful of other Flash versions...
