#4197439 What dumb little tech repair have you done recently that felt good anyways?

Posted by RockyRaccoon on Mon Jan 14, 2019 2:44 PM

What dumb little repair or tech thing have you done recently- that while simple and small- makes you feel accomplished and awesome?

For me it was putting the guts of a well loved Gameboy Color into a new case with new pads and buttons to fix it- since many of the buttons didn't work well (or work in well.) and the case was not in great condition. Easy thing to do- but made me feel pretty good when it was all done and everything worked a hecka a lot better.

#3953470 Will the Coleco Gemini Clone's Dual Controller Work on a Regular 2600?

Posted by RockyRaccoon on Sun Feb 4, 2018 9:06 PM

Basically, the Coleco Gemini, which was an Atari 2600 clone, had this cool controller that had a joystick on the top part and a paddle on the bottom.

Will this work on a normal Atari 2600 system? I kind of like the dual controller style.

#3938119 How much should I be paying for Atari 'Pro-Line' Controllers?

Posted by RockyRaccoon on Wed Jan 17, 2018 10:08 PM

The GOAT store has them for $12.99/ea.

I had no idea this store existed. Woah. That's some nice stuff there. Thanks for the heads up. I'll see what masschamber might offer me first though too.

#3937760 What happened with Digital Press?

Posted by RockyRaccoon on Wed Jan 17, 2018 2:09 PM

Back, before I had to quit the hobby due to my life being turned into a mess in around late 2006, Digital Press was a very active website. With a fun chat room on IRC I used to visit a lot. There always seemed to be discussion. I also, had an account here, (This same one!) but was mostly a lurker. I returned later last year / early this year to the hobby now that my life is back on track, and...

Well Digital Press Forums seem super dead. What I understand is, the owners started a brick and mortar store with the same name, and dropped the forum for a bit but then someone else took it up? Or they just run it without moderation or something?

Anyways, I re-settled back here on AtariAge since this place seems super more active than my old stomping grounds of Digital Press.

Basically just wondering what other peoples takes on that is?

#3934344 MicroVision Commercial

Wow, didn't know they had commercials for these things.

Also reminded I need to put this on the 're-obtain' list for consoles I need to re-collect. :3

#3932971 Just picked up a Coco2: NOOB questions

Posted by RockyRaccoon on Thu Jan 11, 2018 2:01 PM

Hey, I'm a noob, too! I recently got a CoCo Model 1 for very cheap with a composite mod. Some things:

#1.) If you load games from a .wav file/cassette, if CLOAD doesn't work, CLOADM will.

#2.) After loading, 'Run' for CLOAD programs (BASIC Programs) and 'exec' for CLOADM programs (Machine Language Programs.)

Cassette cables can be had for a relative cheap price on Ebay. I got mine for about 5 bucks.

#3918038 Can't get Casette Programs to load via Smartphone or Computer.

Posted by RockyRaccoon on Fri Dec 22, 2017 4:34 PM

Hey jhd.

Basically, I'm the ultra noob. X3. I thought it was 'RUN' for both types. I loaded a program and typed 'EXEC' and that worked. Go Munchman and Color Invaders working, which were my two test programs.

Thank you for your patience. X3 Whoops!
