  1. Bop & Wrestle (by Mindscape?) for one, I know used the extra ram of a 130XE (or an upgraded 800XL) for faster game play (which was a disk based game, and accessed the disk for alot of the wrestling moves, but much faster when installed to a ramdrive). Most later Dos's used the extra ram also for ramdrives. But other than the few software titles out there that did utilize the extra ram, you won't miss it if you choose the XEGS, which I would suggest. Also you can get 130XE compatible ram upgrades. One downside though to the XEGS, it dousn't have an expansion connector as did the 130xe.
  2. I was considering one of those myself. How faithful is it to the original games?
  3. <--EVIL OTTO, I hate him, I hate him, I hate him. I like to ring the bell in Kangaroo though, sweet sound
  4. quote: Originally posted by Chazbeenhad: Maybe it is a board that would have went into a 5200 with a * in the serial number?? I first thought that too, but I was under the impresion that the * serialed 4 porters were converted originals, with wires jumpered. This is an originally etched board that is a blend of both 2 port and 4 port design, I'm going to hook it up later and plug in my CX55 to verify compatibility, but I'm sure it will work because it has pin 24 separate and a trace fro it leads out to a diode just like the two porters. I'll let you know.
  5. I have a question for the really knowledgeable persons here. I have 2 5200's and a stack of 7 5200 mobo's (2 are two port and the other 5 are 4 port) fully populated that I picked up as spares. I also have a VCS adaptor that doesn't work in my complete 5200's (4 porters of course with no * in their serial) so I was deciding whether to mod them to work with the VCS adaptor or just run a 2port board in my 4 port case, when I noticed something really strange about one of my spare 4 port boards. First off it has a different # than the other 4 port boards, it has a different chip count than a 2 port and 4 port (two more than a 2 port and 1 less than a 4 port), has all the screen printing and traces of a 4 port in most areas while having 2 port design in it also, especially pin 24 of cart port is separate in the etched board not modified, just like the 2 porters. The #'s on the board are, Component side: CX5200P CA0 REV Solder side: Atari 1982 C019673 REV 3 That's all there is on it, and I have not been able to find these #'s anywhere on the web, I'm wondering if this was an early prototype before the 2 port release, because this has features made into it like a two port but still has all four ports. This board has no jumpers or other visual signs of modding of any kind, looks factory new. Any ideas? Anyone [ 12-22-2001: Message edited by: Bralgar ]
