  1. 2600 (light sixer) was my first console. My parents donated it (without telling me) in the 90s. Acquired a 4-switch woody (around the FB2 time) and a Sears light sixer (courtesy of my son) and started collecting carts with a vengeance. Have gone on to get a 5200 (4 port) and 7800, among other systems. When I heard about the 2600+, I loved the concept and ran to preorder. I mostly play on my light sixer since it is always connected to a small CRT on my desk (and the family typically is using the flat screen). I love that the new Atari commissioned the 2600+ and that my carts will still be playable when my OG systems ultimately die.
  2. Just hit 199 2600 cartridges (old + new + homebrew) ... Solar Storm was #199. Starting to think about what #200 should be.
  3. I used to work on the Xbox team (360 and One). While I never met him, Spencer comes across as being all about the games. The only question I think he would have is whether or not there would be a reasonable return on investment. Worth a shot.
  4. Well.... after tonight, add * Gyruss (Parker Brothers) * Star Trek (Sega) to the list.... * Fire Fly (Mythicon) * Solar Storm (Imagic) are inbound (hopefully they work when they arrive). I think I have a "sickness" hahahahaha.
  5. CIB is nice, but I am more about getting the games. I can use this site for manual scans / HTML versions. I have gone a bit crazy lately with cartridge acquisitions .... * H.E.R.O. (Activision) * River Raid II (Activision) * Private Eye (Activision) * Commando (Activision) * Bridge (Activision) * Solar Storm (Imagic) * Fathom (Imagic) * Subterranea (Imagic) * Quick Step (Imagic) * Shootin Gallery (Imagic) * Star Voyager (Imagic) * Star Fox (Mythicon) * Fire Fly (Mythicon) * Alien (20th Century Fox) * Bank Heist (20th Century Fox) * Sir Lancelot (Xonox) * Entombed (US Games) * Name That Game (US Games) * Space Jockey (US Games) * 3D Tic-Tac-Toe (Atari) * Basic Math (Atari) * Video Checkers (Atari) * Video Chess (Atari) * Dark Chambers (Atari) * Mario Bros (Atari) * Demons To Diamonds (Atari) * Brain Games (Atari) * Berzerk Enhanced (Atari) * Mr Run and Jump (Atari) * Submarine Commander (Sears) -- Gift from my son * Stellar Track (Sears) * Challenge (Zellers) * Unholy (Homebrew) - Not 2600+ compatible due to Melody Chip * Circus Convoy (Audacity Games) * Coconuts (Telesys) * Infiltrate (Apollo) * Planet Patrol (Spectravision) * Smurf (Coleco) * Reactor (Parker Brothers) * Tunnel Runner (CBS) * Encounter at L5 (Data Age) * Space Attack (M Network) I _think_ that's it (so far)....
  6. Great interview. Love hearing the "being the custodian" comment. Thanks for busting your tail @Ben from Plaion!
  7. Hahahaha! Two of the best characters in that movie! Every time she goes looking for Busy Bee, I am in stitches
  8. My son gave me a copy of Submarine Commander. I have had this one on my wish list for what feels like forever. I also bought myself the 2600+ kit (console, extra joystick, paddles, mr run & jump, berzerk) as well as more cartridges than I care to count. Merry Christmas all!
  9. I have been collecting for the original for over a decade now (my parents donated my original system and games years before). I am lucky to have many retro stores nearby and to have a wonderful wife who bought me my holy grail (Crazy Climber). With the 2600+, I have started buying again (some would say I have gone crazy). I LOVE this hobby
  10. My kit arrived yesterday. This being the first new Atari console I have ever owned (my original light sixer was a refurb my mom bought from a friend who's husband worked 'in sunnyvale'), so i took my time. I investigated the paddles first, then the system (I saved Berzerk, Mr. Run and Jump and the extra joystick for last). My 26 year old son wanted to be part of the fun and we both LOVED the feel of the paddle pots, not to mention the switches on the 2600+. We took everything to one of the TVs and spent the next hour laughing and having a blast playing combat, surround, video olympics (in pong mode) and, of course, an OG Warlords. Everything worked great. I will likely never hot swap as it feels 100% wrong (maybe if I hadnt grown up and still have the original HW). Spent the rest of the evening cleaning my old cartridges in anticipation of a weekend of gaming -- 2.5 hrs of 99% isopropyl fumes Addendum: The dust cover in the box is a huge win for houses with cats!
  11. Theoretically, all of the old Activision titles are now owned by Microsoft.
  12. I would love to see Crazy Climber re-released (even though I have a copy). My all-time favorite game deserves a new release
  13. I am fortunate to have several used game stores in my area that stock 2600 games. Have been haunting them for years and watching (some) prices creep up -- where I used to get handfuls of common (Pac-Man, Asteroids, Combat, etc.) for <1$, most are now starting around 3$.
  14. After years of debating, I ordered a Harmony Encore last week. Super fast delivery. Thanks!
