  1. I picked one up at the Midwest Gaming Classic, but I haven't had a chance to try it out yet.
  2. How? It runs so terribly! I want to love it, because the arcade and SNES versions are crazy fun. But it's too choppy to be enjoyable, for me. Still, I'm really glad that somebody loves it. Maybe I need to give it some more chances.
  3. This is awesome, and I'm glad I snagged a ticket. I've been a huge fan of the Lynx and Jaguar since they were new, but I never made it to the original Jagfests...at least, not until they morphed into the Midwest Gaming Classic. I can't wait for this! It will be good to meet other Atari fans, and finally do some Lynx and Jag multiplayer.
  4. Well yeah. I click every thumbnail that might have something to do with the Lynx.
  5. When I did these back in college, I had tons of free time but only like a quarter of the Lynx library. Now I have the full library and zero free time, lol. I'd love to go back and rip the rest of the games, but I'm not sure how I could get the time to do that. Maybe this summer I could work on a few specific requests though.
  6. So I picked this up today. It's a straight emulation of the Lynx version with a very barebones menu allowing for save states and scanline filters. The sound quality is warbly just like early Handy emu builds, which is a big disappointment. Still, for $3 I really can't complain.
  7. Somehow I missed this initial announcement. But this looks really cool! It's a great idea and I can't wait to play it.
  8. Eek! Double post...please delete.
  9. Every time I try to edit my post, the forum posts another copy of my comment. Sorry!
  10. (Sorry, the forum is being crazy...please delete.)
  11. Oh man. This is a cool topic, and there are a ton of comments I'd like to reply to, but what's the point when they were posted 20 years ago? Here are mine: Hard Drivin' - I've heard the arcade original was great in its time, but I've only played the ports, and they're all terrible. The Lynx version is no exception - while it's a programming marvel, it just has too painful a framerate to be enjoyable. Lynx Casino - Boring. Some of the graphics aren't bad, but I can't stay awake long enough to appreciate them Viking Child - I could see this being a pretty decent game, but it plays embarrassingly slowly. It should never have been released in its current state. Krazy Ace Miniature Golf - It's not terrible. But it's really unpolished and feels more like a demo. Yet for the longest time it was the priciest, most hard to find Lynx title. Probably one of the sports titles I haven't played. They're not at all my thing. So if they're bad, I wouldn't know. Basketbrawl, however, is bloody good fun. I really like that game and it irks me to see it listed so often here. It's not perfect, but it's absolutely playable, and it's a really fun concept. I love knocking out the other team and then scoring basket after basket while they're napping. And the guy who listed Rampart clearly needs to play more games.
  12. Apparently the Lynx version of Chip's Challenge is getting a re-release on the Nintendo Switch on 01/25/2024. The information out there so far doesn't explicitly say it's the Lynx original, but that's pretty clear from the screenshots and videos shown. It looks to have a cheap $2.99 price tag too! No word yet on a physical release, though I'd say that's pretty unlikely. I never beat the Lynx game, but I've put a decent amount of time into it and I think it's clearly one of the best games on the Lynx. It's so good to see it brought back to a modern platform! I just hope they mention somewhere that it's an old Lynx game, as most of the people exposed to this port will likely know little to nothing about our old Atari handheld. https://www.nintendo.com/us/store/products/chips-challenge-switch/ https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Games/Nintendo-Switch-download-software/Chip-s-Challenge-2500433.html?fbclid=IwAR3EdmzRCrjO9FNAk8zO5gOykFPeK4cFhZ2ekXwyt_OAgJi2c7g8UP3wO9U
  13. Since a few people here have mentioned Zafinn's Lynx book, it's worth mentioning that he's working on a Jaguar one as well, with pre-orders to come this year. Click
  14. This is awesome! Thank you for these tips. I'm relatively new to RPGs and don't care much for roguelikes, but I've spent probably 25ish hours with Kings of Edom and have only found 3 crowns (I think....it's been awhile though). I didn't pick up on a lot of these things, like the benefits of the "searching" stat, gold carrying over, and timing your attacks. I guess I associate RPGs with turn-based combat and assumed there wouldn't be any benefit to trying different timings. Anyway, I've really enjoyed Kings of Edom even though it's not a genre I usually go for, and these tips might be what I needed to make some real progress.
  15. Yeah, that Videogame Critic guy's head is firmly up his rear. He gives Slime World an F- but Raiden an A. Did he bother playing either one?
