  1. INTVNUT told me that you can get replacement RF modulators here: http://www.alltronics.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?item=92V017 Hope that helps.
  2. Pics or it didn't happen. Please.
  3. My INTV 1 unit has wonky controllers, but I haven't tried taking them apart and cleaning them either. That's a project for a future day. Tonight I took the INTV II and tried it on the TV in the computer room. I used the shielded RCA cable and the RCA to coax adapter. It's an older Zenith 25" CRT from the mid/late 1990s and guess what... the video locked in just fine with no cut outs. So, I'm back to square 1. I'd prefer to have it hooked up to the "nicer" 32" CRT TV in the living room, but that doesn't seem to be possible. Very odd... and frustrating.
  4. No, the other consoles are going S-video or RCA connections. Testing it on the tv in the computer room will happen this weekend. Heck, even the Atari Jaguar locks in just fine, but it too is using RCA connectors.
  5. Picked up a shielded RCA cord today and using the RCA to coax connector, I was able to get it to display... with the same AV cutting in/out. I guess replacing the RF Modulator is the next step then. The TV I'm using is a standard CRT made by RCA, so there's no good reason for it to be doing this. The TV works fine with the Xbox/PS2/Xbox360.
  6. It seems strange though that I get the exact same fault with two different machines. I think I'll try getting a new RF switchbox from Rat Shack before I go invasive and replace the modulator. Thanks for the suggestions!
  7. Well, I officially quit. I just received an INTVII today. Hooked it up... and I have the SAME problem as my original Intellivision, the video/sound cut in and out. I've tried using those auto switch boxes from an NES and Sega Genesis, and neither of those work. I also tried my original switch box and that gives the same in/out reception. Also bought one of the small RCA to coax cable connector ends and there was NO signal at all with that. I was trying to run the video through a VCR and then I tried connecting directly to the TV with the same results. I now "think" the problem lies in the RF switch box itself. Is there a recommended replacement box that boosts signal strength? Very frustrating. About ready to toss it all in the trash. Nostalgia be damned.
  8. The boxes with the flap on the front that opens like a book. Those are my favorite since those are the first ones I received when we got our Intellivision... back in the day. I'd love gatefold boxes for those games that DIDN'T come with them such as later INTV Corp. versions. What is the general "retail" price for the "standard" (non-gatefold) boxes?
  9. In a word: nostalgia. Classic gaming is all about the fond memories of our childhood, and plastic cases were not used for games then. Those who grew up with Sega or PlayStation as their first console will have different considerations as to what fits the bill, but old-school Intellivision and Atari collectors and developers are very particular. I know I am. -dZ. Granted, but the ease of making a boxed game, when originally all you had was a cart only, or cart and instructions, is very appealing. I have maybe 15 or so games without boxes. The sites online with the box scans and instruction/overlay sets are great, but not being able to print a "real" box is what makes the platic cases somewhat attractive. INTVNUT, are the cases you shared pics of, the same as the ones in the link posted by Revolutionika? Thanks for the help everyone!
  10. Do you think reflowing the solder joints on the RF modulator would help any? Thanks!
  11. Are there any sites that offer plastic replacement boxes for INTV games? I've seen some in the past for Atari games, Neo Geo and vectrex. Something with a space for the cart, slipcover outside for artwork and perhaps little clips to hold a manual? Similar design perhaps to DVD boxes... only that will hold INTV games. Thanks!
  12. So I dug out my first gen Intellivision the other day which has been in the family since Christmas 1980. The video wouldn't come up, but after being on for an hour or so (I was trying to look up tech documents online at the time) I started getting video to display some, even if a bit corrupted. So I figure it has heat related issues, so i took it apart and reflowed all the cold solder joints on the power supply PCB and suddenly now it boots up rock solid! But... The video and sound cut in and out. The gameplay continues at normal speed, it's just the audio/video that cut out every couple seconds. Anyone else ran across this issue or have a fix for it? Thanks in advance!
  13. On this site, or elsewhere? Do you have any links to the information? Thanks, and sorry to hear about your own flash misadventures. Russ
  14. AvP was the sole reason I bought a Jag a few years back. Back before the PC games were released. Heck, the premise alone in the game is better than what they're planning for AvP2, the film. Sadly, genre film fans do not make movies. Big corporations do. Russ
