Post Clone Wars

No no no... Post Clone Wars is not a breakfast cereal. But that would be kind of awesome - a breakfast cereal where all of the pieces looked exactly the same! No odd-shaped ones or broken bits in the bottom of the box, because, you know... they'd be clones.   Ummm... right.   Where was I?   Oh right, Star Wars: The Clone Wars.   So, I used to blog about the show while it was on the air. Then Disney pulled the plug after season 5 without wrapping up the series properly - mainly because Cl

Pixar's best?

I just went and saw Disney's Pixar's Ratatouille last night.   Even though Surf's Up was a good movie... Ratatouille is a great one. It's an order of magnitude better than anything else out there. (Sorry, Jeff.)   Pixar has set a new standard for animated films. Not merely CG animated films, but animated films, period. The animation is absolutely incredible, and would be, regardless of the medium. Computers do not make animation this good - people do. Pixar has the best animators, and in Bra

Pimp my 2600

This will probably be the last Artie strip for a little while. I've got another project that's been moved to the front burner, so to speak.   17 < PreviousIndexNext >

Pentaclones

Well, my U-Verse DVR was too stupid to catch the season five premiere of The Clone Wars in its new time slot last weekend. The show has moved to Saturday morning - because nothing goes better with a big bowl of Cocoa Puffs than lightsaber decapitations! So I had to watch the episode - Revival - online.   The problem is that my internet is too sporadic to stream the whole episode without interruption. This despite it not even being in true 1080 HD. Time Warner is looking better all the time.

Passengers - Spoiler-free movie review

Titanic in space. 4.5/10 Okay... I was really tempted to just leave the review at that, but in all fairness, I suppose I could do a little better. Passengers is the fourth film in the Gravity / The Martian / Interstellar trilogy. Don't ask me how the math works, it just does. Sometime in the very distant future, Earth is a mess, and we're now colonizing other planets to mess them up too. So... add Wall-E to that list, since that

Pacific Rim - Spoiler-free review

How do you write a spoiler-free review about a movie that is completely predictable and exactly what you expect it to be?   Beats me, but I'll give it a shot.   Pacific Rim is live-action anime. If you're at all familiar with anime, you'll know exactly where this movie is going at every turn. But really, that's the whole point. It's supposed to be an homage, tribute, rip-off or love letter to anime. More to the point, if you don't get anime, you probably aren't going to get this film either.

Orwellian Dining

While out for lunch with family last week, I had the experience of eating at Old Country Buffet. You know the type of place - where you grab an empty plate and head over to any one of several troughs, er... buffets stocked with all manner of generally mediocre food. This type of restaurant is particularly good for those with kids (we had my three nieces in tow), since it gives them the opportunity to eat whatever they'd like. I myself loved going to The Royal Fork as a little kid for this very r
