Well, my U-Verse DVR was too stupid to catch the season five premiere of The Clone Wars in its new time slot last weekend. The show has moved to Saturday morning - because nothing goes better with a big bowl of Cocoa Puffs than lightsaber decapitations! So I had to watch the episode - Revival - online.
The problem is that my internet is too sporadic to stream the whole episode without interruption. This despite it not even being in true 1080 HD. Time Warner is looking better all the time.
Today marks the seventh anniversary of my blog. Seven years!
That means I managed to survive longer without being cancelled than Star Trek: The Next Generation, or Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, or even Star Trek: Voyager! So how about that! Of course I long-ago surpassed Enterprise, but hey, I've got socks that lasted longer than that show. And...
What?
What do you mean they don't cancel blogs?
Really?
Man... I've been putting way too much effort into this.
No doubt thanks to all of the hard work he puts into AtariAge, and his upcoming attendance at the Portland Retro Gaming Expo, he is this week's App of the week!
Download him now, while he's still free!
Sony finally announced the new, long rumored, slimmer, cheaper, PS3.
Uh... wait a sec.
Cheaper isn't the right word... what's the word I'm looking for?
Oh right... pricier. The base PS3 now costs $269, instead of $249.
I suspect most people were expecting $199. I certainly was.
After all, they did away with the slot-loading Blu-ray drive, for a (presumably) cheaper top-loader. Generally the reason products like this are re-engineered, are to make them more cost-effective to p
Coming in 2013, from the makers of Robot Chicken...

What's particularly cool, is that even though Robot Chicken's Star Wars specials were done with the permission of Lucasfilm, this is being created by Lucasfilm.

I'm at the theater yet again, and I've only got a few minutes before the film starts, so there's just enough time to post a super-quick pre-movie entry.
And that was it.
See you in three hours!
(Much, much later...)
You know what? I think I'm going to type this up tomorrow instead. It's late.
(The next day...)
Well, that was a long movie. And if I had to choose one word to describe it, it would probably be "tedious". It takes forever to get going, takes forever to g
I'm originally from Seattle, and will always consider it home. So I was saddened to read about the passing of a Seattle icon - J.P. Patches.
J.P. (actually Chris Wedes) was a staple on Seattle-area TV from 1958 to 1981, hosting a locally produced live kids' TV show. What made J.P. a Seattle icon was that his show was actually funny. Sure, he was dressed as a clown, who are almost never funny (see: Bozo, Ronald McDonald, etc.), but this show was different. It was full of goofy characters (J.P
So, here we go again. I'm killing time in a movie theater, waiting for a movie to start. However, there are only a couple of minutes to go, so I'm not going to get much typing done. I wasn't sure whether to go see The Amazing Spider-Man or not, since I can't say I was all that intrigued by the trailers. But I had a couple of hours to kill, and a free movie pass burning a hole in my pocket, so here I am. Well... time for the show.
(One movie and a late dinner at Chick-Fil-A later...)

As I mentioned in a previous post, I recently rented Steve Jobs: The Lost Interview from iTunes. Here's the trailer:

I'll admit to having a fascination with the history of computers, for a couple of reasons. First of all, my dad worked as a computer programmer, so even from the earliest days I was at least peripherally aware of things like punch cards and ASCII printouts on continuous feed paper (someone at his work would print out Peanuts calen
I pick up MLB.com At Bat for my iPhone pretty much every year. For those unaware, it lets you access standings, scores, stats, and news about your favorite baseball team, lets you listen to every game live, watch video highlights, and follow along with a neat little graphical app. You even get to pick your home radio station to listen to. For those of us living in an entirely different state than our home team, this is a very cool thing. The cost works out to less than a dime per game.

Currently, it's 11:41 PM, and I'm sitting in a movie theater, waiting for the first showing of Brave. Now, I'm not usually enough of a movie nut to go on opening night (or in this case - opening morning since the movie starts at 12:05 AM), but 1) I was bored and 2) I've learned not to go see Pixar films during the day, because parents tend to take their kids to those showings. I'm talking kids in strollers. Crying. Not how I want to spend my movie going hours.
Usually this late, there are ve
Pro golfers are complaining that the 16th hole at the U.S. Open is too long at 670 yards. I have a solution for this problem.
Dear pro golfers,
I hate to be the one to break the news to you... but you are getting paid millions of dollars to play golf.
Shut up, go play your game, collect your massive paychecks, and stop whining about it.
Sincerely,
Everyone in the world who will work their entire lives and never make as much money as you will this weekend
So on Monday at the WWDC, amongst a spate of ho-hum announcements, Apple announced their forthcoming Documents in the cloud feature for OS X Spotted Ocelot, or whatever.
But here, and here only (unless someone else already thought of this) is the scoop on Apple's next big cloud service:

I'd first heard of this years ago (it's been in development for ages under different titles) and was skeptical of it, but it looks pretty good. I've heard some good reports coming out of the studio about it as well (in fact - they have a number of arcade classics set up there for "research").
(Edit: replaced trailer with higher-quality version, without annoying introduction)
Or he could buy a Star Trek pizza cutter. And a pizza.
But for those (like me) who dug the first two installments of Carmageddon, here's a link to their Kickstarter page.

Well, I was going to write up some ridiculous, overlong blog entry about The Avengers and superhero movies in general. But then 2/3 of the way through it, I realized that even I didn't want to read it. I got off on some tangent about Batman and... anyway, I'll leave that for when The Dark Knight Rises comes out.
So here's what you need to know:
The Avengers is awesome.
The action is great. Everyone gets a chance to show why they excel at what they do. You could see how Captain Americ
