Here's something that I am having trouble understanding: Why is it that when I try something a few times it doesn't work and then I try it once more it does? I decide to not give up on something because this turns out to be true. Case in point: Chicken animation for Traffic! I tried inserting the animation code from Super Giuseppe two or three times and it broke the game. But once more I tried and it runs perfectly. It's just something that I'll never understand. Something else I'll never unders
I went and worked on my Channel F game again this morning. Today's goal was to make the lettuce heads shootable. This required more time than usual. Once I thought I had it, but then realized that just because I made the bullet blue didn't necessarily mean it was off the screen. So more work had to be done. At one point, the ground was uneven. It had a grassy feel to it. Odd because I didn't do anything to make that happen. I figured it might be because I was using too much code. Eventually th
So I woke up at three a.m. this morning. I wanted to get the music done for level 4 of Mr. Ultra 2. The old computer was being a s--thead and not cooperating with me. So I backed up all the files needed for Mr. Ultra 2 to compile on my website. The new computer was being slow, and when I went to restart it, I noticed it wanted an update. So I restarted it. It took about 10 minutes but it did its little thing. The music for level 4 of Mr. Ultra 2 is done. I think I'm only going to have 6 levels t
So apparently the roofers are coming tomorrow to reroof our condo where I live. Mom wants me to be awake all the time they're there so I can help take care of the dog, who will probably be frightened by all the noises up on the roof. Any time the workers come to clean out the gutters, the dog gets all excited and starts barking, so I doubt all the noises of us getting a new roof would be good for her. I guess the cat will hide under my bed all the time. See, this is one of the reasons why I don'
So does YouTube. I found the reason why my video keeps playing automatically. It appears YouTube thinks the video in question (along with another one) is owned by UMG. UMG does NOT own copyrights to some rinky-dink TV station in Salem, Oregon. I don't even think Viacom owns the rights to it even though it said "Viacom Cablevision" at the top because it's a local station. So, UMG sucks donkey balls for wrongly assuming this, and so in part does YouTube because they let UMG take down or classify
What a night. I spent almost all of it trying to figure out my stupid Music Maker thing I'm making. Then, once I notice it's 3 AM, I try to go to sleep, only to start having acid reflux. Now, I never have it, and I figure the only reason I had it (it's over now) is because I started eating those microwavable hash browns. Well, anyway, I didn't get to sleep until 5 AM and I woke up at about 12:45 PM. BTW, I have made a little progress on my Music Maker program. Check the attachment out. Now all I
So I have been browsing a site about UHF channels from the '50s-'70s. Portland was the home for the world's first UHF station, channel 27, KPTV which started in 1952. Back then, KPTV was on channel 27 and was an NBC affiliate. What I don't know is how many TVs in 1952 were equipped to go as high as channel 27 to receive. But then five years later, tragedy. KPTV was sold to some guy and moved to channel 12, where it is today. Not only that, Salem for a brief time, had a UHF station, between 8/4/5
So I finally got a UFO in Ten Pest. Next step was having something happen when you shoot it. Got it to make a noise upon laser impact and generating a new one on the screen. The controls are a bit hard to control, so I think that is the next step. I had a hard time lining up the shot to shoot the UFO. I think if I slow down the rocket it would be easier to line up shots for the UFO. Here's stuff left to do: + Design nine more UFOs and stick them in there. + Work on some UFOs that shoot. + Move
Well, those looks to be the last uDraw games for the Wii. Just now got Disney Princesses and Studio: Instant Artist, which I now have every uDraw game for the Wii in existence. Had to go to GameStop, where, to my surprise, I got sealed copies of both games! I also went to the other store and got a "new" Dreamcast controller, even though it looks like nobody seems to want my Dreamcast in the marketplace forum. I guess it's time for me to hook up my Wii and take these games as well as Mario Kart W
Ever since this was mentioned in the forums, I've wanted one. Now there's only three more days until it gets released. Methinks it will be cool to have a Mario Paint-style game on the Wii. That, and Dood's Big Adventure looks cool as well. If I can find one on Sunday, then I shall have a review of it up here on the blog. THQ has a site up dedicated to the "console" at www.worldofudraw.com The site is kinda stupid, but the thing still looks cool. I doubt I'll be getting Pictionary on launch day,
So I had finished this novel I wrote in February. It took 2 years off and on to write. Luckily, I had discovered a typo. Not a word spelled wrong, but an entire sentence was out of whack. The sentence was in the last chapter, chapter 14. The sentence was "People don't want me to think I'm crazy." It should be "I don't want people to think I'm crazy." So, no more writing novels before bedtime. Luckily it wasn't in print anywhere and was just for my own amusement. And I fixed it. The novel is call
I decided since I had the room, to add a "dummy" color to stand in to the first color that was being black. The palette showed the dummy color as the first one. The dummy color was a hot pink, which I used to color the tree trunks. Then I made sure the original tree trunk color was still in the picture (or else it wouldn't show up in the palette), I put it it to the extreme left, and it doesn't show up in the game. I changed the colors to 4-bit and changed the hot pink to a different shade of br
I can't believe I've been working on the Celery game for two weeks. I think it now has a name: Cellar Celery. The story is: Mr. Celery goes down into his cellar and discovers an evil plot by vegetarians to eat him! "It's a good thing I discovered this now, else I'd be toast!" said Celery. So he went to work and built a vegetarian incinerator to fry those evil vegetarians. But apparently the vegetarians were ready for such a thing. They kidnapped a whole bunch of stalks of celery and now the norm
I wrote a disco song. Well, in fact, I wrote three of them. One is called "boogie on down some more." I wrote another one called "disco pete" which is a variation of the classic song "Cuban Pete" and finally, I wrote one that is the topic of this discussion. I wrote a disco Christmas song. It has jingle bells in it. I made MIDIS to accompany my singing for all three songs. It really does sound a lot better than just playing my keyboard. I convert the MIDIs into MP3s with this tool I found. Unfor
So I've been talking about trying to get the DS games. I found them quite easily at Toys R Us. Well, two of them. I bet they had the third one, too, but I had forgotten what it was called, which I guess is good anyway since I got a $15 card for buying the "SpongeBob SquarePants: Plankton's Robotic Revenge" game. I also got "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2." So I guess I could go back there next week and only spend $5 for it. I know it has something to do with Legos, but there's just too many
First of all, I found out that what I said about pressing select in Tetris isn't true. It just takes a while for the rocket to blast off in the scene. Well, I need two more Lynx games to have a "complete" collection. (Complete meaning disregarding the Telegames and homebrew releases.) Today I just placed an order for Super Asteroids and Missile Command to an outfit that is selling them for $29.95. I think it's amazing that after 20 years, you can still find NIB Lynx games. Why didn't people open
Until I get broadband internet and can finally go on YouTube and download huge files and do everything else everybody else gets to do. The modem dropped from the counter down to the carpet, so I hope it still works OK. I think it does since the lights that were on were still on after it fell, but I'll let you know once I have high speed internet.
What better way to celebrate the two month anniversary of not working on Super Giuseppe than to work on it? For some reason, I had an urge to work on Super Giuseppe again, so I did. I began work on level 3. When I updated the Super Giuseppe page, I had noticed that the last time it was updated was October 3. It was a coincidence. All I have on level 3 though is a fish swimming towards Giuseppe. I had to design swimming animation on Giuseppe and redesign the fish. Adding my new sprite creations
Continuing with this theme, I was looking 'round the 'net and found that Peter Gabriel has not one, not two, but three albums with two letter titles: Us, Up, and So. As I'm writing this, I'm listening to the Presidents of the United States of America's II album, so there's at least 2 albums named "II" and "Up." Question: Did U2 release a self-titled album? Now next time I go downtown I have to look for three Peter Gabriel albums! Right now I have three 2-letter titled albums: II (PUSA, Boyz II M
I am fascinated by really short titles for things. Take for instance, Coldplay's album titled "X&Y" or Shania Twain's "Up!", or Boyz II Men's "II". Or TV shows such as "24", "Ed", and "ER". Or songs, like Pink Floyd's "If", Neil Diamond's "Be", or Faith Hill's "Me". Or even shorter, like movies called "Q", "M", or "O", or Paul Abdul's song "U". One-letter titles have more "mystique" than two-letter titles, but any other album with two letters would be appreciated. I'd like to start a collect
Issue 2 of Nintendo Power is up on my website: http://www.atari2600land.com/np/ In it is a review of Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon for 3DS. I also found this magazine I made when I was a kid called "Chris's NES/SNES Magazine" It was made December 27, 1992, so over 20 years ago! I had just turned 10 when I made it. Issue 1 is the only issue I have, I don't remember if I made an issue 2 or not. If I did, it's lost. But I don't think I did. So I'm going to make a second issue of "Chris's NES/SNES Maga
I got two more DS games for my collection. In case you're wondering why I keep getting DS games and never opening them, it's just because I like collecting them. I mean, I bet a factory-sealed copy of Polar Bowler is bound to be worth more than the $20 i paid for it 20 years from now. I wonder why Nintendo hasn't put out a new handheld yet. The DS will be turning 5 this November. I guess if it isn't broke, don't fix it. Another thing I guess that factors into it is that Sony hasn't announced any
So my sister and her family are off to Disneyland for a week. She has a dog. Someone needs to take care of it. Apparently that would be us. We already have a dog. Now we have two dogs this week. Two dogs and a cat. Woo. Good thing our dog likes her dog. They get along good. The only trouble is her dog won't take her pills. We had to mash them up and put it in her food. Her dog has a bum leg and the pills are for the pain. And Mom has to go over to my sister's house because they also have a cat.
I was bugged by this. So bugged that I had to move the screen down a little bit more. Because the star kept twinkling when the game ended. But then I got to thinking: There has to be a reason for this. The reason was the game was working too hard. So I tried to move the star up a little so the screen didn't look strange with everything below. It took at least 3 hours of work, but I made it so the star doesn't twinkle when the game starts. I kept on using the C7050 cartridge over and over again
Company: KemcoRelease: June 2001 (launch title)Size: 32 MegabitsNP's rating: 2.5/5 (v.146 p.117)ESRB rating: EFirst off, this would have been a good game, if the buttons did things right when you pressed them. No, instead, most of the times you press a button and it doesn't do anything. At all. Play control is HORRID on this. And this is a game that needs good play control because it is a minigame collection. I often ended up placing last because of the poor button pressing detection. I tawt I p
