I was looking for something last night and decided to check under the bed. While I never did find what I was looking for, I did find my spare game.com cartridge. So if the time comes when someone figures out and codes a homebrew game.com and figures out how to make a game.com flash cart, I'll be ready. I also found my Intellivision Voice Module. I wondered where it went. Turns out it was under my bed. It is super hot here (90 or so right now) and has been for the past few days. Our normal high r
A box full of Quiz Wiz stuff came today. Four of the booklets I got did not have matching cartridges. But anyway, I did get 13 new to me cartridges and books. And, yes, another console. This one is different. This one is gray. I'm figuring this is a later model since the later cartridges were also gray. I was asleep for most of the morning. I got up at 9 a.m. and was still sleepy so I went back to sleep on the couch. And woke up at noon. It's almost 1 p.m. as I'm writing this. I really need to g
So I put my ActionMax stuff together and figured out the thing doesn't work! I figure it has to do with the sensor. It works at the beginning when the tape tells you to try the special mode and the score increases, but shooting doesn't make the score go up like it's supposed to. So maybe I have a bum gun perhaps? I did notice when I took the sensor cap off and unscrewed the little light bulb, it had bled some red stuff. I don't know what it is (mercury?), but hopefully I can get this resolved. I
Someone who was in charge of making the screenshots for the Fall 1988 INTV catalog must like the number 47 a lot... - Page 3: Body Slam Super Pro Wrestling - Over the T in the words "GIANT SPLASH" is the number 47. - Page 5: Pole Position - One of the scores is 4700. - Page 5: Super Pro Football - The number of Total Yards for the red team is 47. - Page 6: Slap Shot: Super Pro Hockey - The time left in the game is 16:47. - Page 7: Tower of Doom - The amount of Life Force is 147. - Page 8: Diner
Unafraid to open a new can of worms, I decided to resume work on my GoSub for Game Gear game. Last time I quit, I deleted all the files in disgust, vowing never to work on it again since the SMS Power people were quite mean to me. Then I remembered: I backed up all the files on my webpage. So I downloaded my own game zip file I made. Now, since collision detection wouldn't work, though, since I put the sprites up some weird way even though it's exactly the same way I did in Mr. Ultra, I needed a
Here's the latest version of Gosub 2. I think with the way things are going, this will be done by January 2007. Tell me what you think of the levels, whether they be too easy, too hard or the colors are too ugly. Right now, once you get past level 5, it goes back to level 1. The final build will have an ending screen because I've changed the scoring system: Every time you hit a wall, you get a point, the object being to have the lowest number of points. I'll probably add about 5 more screens and
Take a look at my two most recent comics that will go on my comics website next month. I've been trapped in this horrible life for too long.
C'mon. All I want to do is go to my used video game store again. That's all.
I've decided to put the cranberry game on hold since I can't get it working right at all on my Virtual Boy. Perhaps I can work on Frank the Fruit Fly again. At least I haven't run into an troubles for that lately.
Finally went to sleep at 3 a.m. and got up at
So the ants are back again. Yay. They serve absolutely no purpose except to annoy me. I put some poison bait and there's more than a dozen dead in the traps. They must come in waves. For a few days, I haven't seen any and now my kitchen is overflowing with them. Anyway, my Voice module quit working. I can't really test the Celery game any more. Well, I could, but without the Voice part. I made the celery's machine smaller, and I made the vegetarians' moves more erratic. I fixed a bug that made i
I can't do the trampoline in trip 1 round 3. Every time I try to do it, I end up in the water. I tried a running start, I tried everything and I can't do it. So I looked at a YouTube video and saw someone successfully complete the trampoline jump and I'm like "HOW DID HE DO THAT?!" It's just so frustrating that I can't figure out how. I tried jumping on the trampone. I even read the manual and figured out that pressing the lever causes you to run faster, so I did that and I still couldn't do it.
Here's a game I've been working on for the 2009 Minigame Compo. It's called "i." The other vowels have invaded i land and you are the bravest lowercase i in the land. Use your dot to defeat your foes. Fire it like a missile, first press fire, then the direction you want your dot to head, then depress fire. How many vowels can you shoot in 99 seconds? Unfortunately, since this is a 2k game, there is no room for sound, i have about 30 bytes left, and that's not going to be enough space even to put
Every time I hear the word Jaguar I think of the Atari Jaguar. This lady on Jeopardy! said she was in a cage and there was a jaguar that pawed at her face. Even though she was talking about an actual jaguar, I still couldn't help but think of the Atari Jaguar. I had to uncapitalize "jaguar" while typing that last sentence. Anyway, I went and worked on the Jaguar again. I was having quite the time with the UFOs. It just so happened that even if you put in a 24 bit image with 5 colors in it, it
Wow, every time I attempt to write a diary, i just write in it a few days and forget about it. This time, I guess since it's writing about what I really like (video games), this one is lasting. This is my 300th entry, and with almost 7,000 views, too.
Best Buy is the greatest store in the history of video game stores, even though it's not a video game store (in the sense that they sell more than just video games.) So, expect a review of TMNT soon, and, since I pledged to do every single game,
So I got my Atari 800XL out from the garage. It still works despite being out in the cold for months. Out of all the games I had for it, I enjoy Qix the most. Or at least that's what I thought. I forgot that you had to wait ten minutes after each death before it recognizes you die, then play the dying tune, and then you can start up again. You'd think that since you can't move when you die that it would recognize it right there and then, but no. It has to sloooooowly erase the line you were tryi
47 has been bombarding me lately. A few days ago was our 47th consecutive day without rain. A few days later, a 47 year old man who is going to serve 32 years in prison got an extra 30 years tacked on for another crime. Looks like he'll die in prison. When I thought it was all over, I opened the paper today and saw this: So it's been a hot week. Last night I worked on Frank the Fruit Fly. I worked a lot on the inside of the cat's mouth. Here's what it looks like: Yes, I know the esophagus is q
So my sister is moving away from her boyfriend because he turned into a meth addict. He was admitted to the hospital tonight apparently even though he claimed he had worms boring into his eyelids. So I guess that meant my sister and nephew had to come over here before they could move into the new house. My house has so many boxes of stuff you'd think we were moving. Well anyway, they came over here tonight. And along came the rest of the pets. The dogs are in a kennel. The cat has been here fo
Yay!!!!! :) Now I can watch stuff on YouTube like everyone else does! And, people can call on the phone while I'm on the Internet! Everything downloads so much faster now! Yay yay yay yay yay (Can you tell I'm happy? )
Ordered this album from eBay. There's a lot of songs that are longer than one hour out there. I ordered this last week, and just now it finally came today. They shipped it last Monday and it came today. Can't blame them if it took longer than a week to get here. Perhaps part of the problem was they used DHL instead of the USPS. Anyway, I ripped this to my computer and listened to the first 37 minutes of it. Its total run time is 63:49. It's beautiful music, especially once you get past the first
I have to go see the doctor tomorrow. And get a stupid blood test. I don't know why I have to do it every year since every single one turns out fine. I'm never going to die of some stupid blood disease since I don't want one. Five million years later I'll be sitting in this chair typing away blog entries. Although I doubt AtariAge will be around 5 million years from now. But I will be. Got Videocart #4 in the mail today. Was really fast. I ordered it Saturday and it went clear across the count
Unlike a certain president, I actually built a wall. I was up part of the night doing it, too. Unfortunately, it's just in My History Teacher Ate Lemons. And what's after the wall? Another wall! What's after that wall? I don't know yet, so an open field will greet you if you happen to figure out how to get past it. I made the tree-drawing code simpler. Instead of asking if it's on a certain screen number and then getting positions, I moved them all into a data array and did it that way. The pr
Well, I got my first new game of the year, which is interesting because it's March already. (Technically, all those game.com games were sealed, but more than 10 years old, so I won't count them.) There was only 1 copy of de Blob 2 for the DS left and I got it. Looking at the back, it says "Syfy Kids". What the heck is the Syfy Channel doing making video games? Anyway, I have decided to get nearly every DS game that comes out this year because it's destined to be its last year! I doubt anything w
I had an idea. To make an album of songs where each song over an hour long. After almost half a day of recording, the first album is finished. And I had fun recording it, mixing it, composing it, and everything else involved with it. I made a neat little professional-looking case for it. I have perfected the art of doing this, I have a perfect size for both back and front covers. I know how to open the back of the case to get the back cover in. Since all the songs are over an hour long, it can't
But who would want to shake a stick at Yoshi? I love Mario's cute little dinosaur pal. Here's a list of all the Yoshi games I have (collected over the years):
Yoshi (NES & GB)
Yoshi's Island (SNES & GBA)
Yoshi's Story (N64)
Yoshi Touch & Go (DS)
...and now I just got Yoshi Topsy-Turvy for GBA. Now all I need to complete my Yoshi collection is Yoshi's Cookie for SNES, NES and I don't know if there's a Game Boy version of Yoshi's Cookie or not. And, as I mentioned, I'm getting Yos
While researching the number of albums out there named "Up", I discovered a fourth one by ABC made in 1989. So that brings the total to four, although I doubt this one made its way to CD, though. I could be (hopefully) wrong. A pretty popular name for albums. If you know of any more bands who made an album called Up, please post a reply. So far I have:
1.) Shania Twain (Up!)
2.) Peter Gabriel
3.) Great Big Sea
4.) ABC (the band, not the network)
This makes me thirsty for some 7-Up!
Just for fun, I decided to plug in my Wii and play Wii Sports to see if it still works. It does, and not only that, I got a new record score in bowling (in the 180's). That was the game in which I got a turkey (three strikes in a row.) I had to set it up in the living room and once mom goes to bed, I'll put in Mario Kart Wii and play it. I use the Gamecube controller for that because with the Wiimote it's too hard. Since I only have Wii Sports, Mario Kart Wii and Super Mario Galaxy, I've decided
I'm in the mood for TurboGrafx 16 games again. I got two $5 off coupons from eBay since my game was one day late. I don't know why they felt they had to do that for me, though. I don't care. So I figured I might as well use 1 of them. So I got Vigilante, which is the Turbo-Grafx 16 equivalent of Double Dragon (or so Digital Press claims.) I'd get out my Atari 2600 version of Double Dragon, but it's in the garage. And it's cold out there. Which is a reason I didn't put the three recently bought 2
