ooooh! This time, I'd thought I'd express my beliefs of religion. Judging from the title of this entry, this is about my descent into the occult. This began with reading "The Satanic Bible" by Anton LaVey. While there are some good ideas in the book, it's not really what I believe. Of course, Theistic Satanism has inspired me (I sold my soul to Satan via a contract signed with my own blood when I was younger. Because I was a wimp and didn't want to poke myself with a needle, I did it with the bl
I waited until it came back up again. Mainly that involved going to *gasp* other websites (yes, there are others.), but mostly just twiddled my thumbs waiting for it to come back up. The first time I noticed it was down was Saturday afternoon, when I just got home from Best Buy with a copy of Photoshop Elements 6. I also went to GameCrazy and bought an old Game Boy. What is the deal with all these Game Boys having dead pixels along the left side of the screen? Other than that, it works great. I
In case you don't already know, I'm collecting songs that are 15 minutes or longer on CD. I have a few that I have on records and not on CD, but now I'm just mainly focusing on CDs because the technology is better, they can last forever (theoretically), and they are smaller. Well, anyway, I went out and got the album Eat a Peach by the Allman Brothers Band which has a song called Mountain Jam on it that is 33 minutes long. It's called Mountain Jam because it's loosely based on Donovan's song "Th
Can anyone without Microsoft Internet Explorer go to my websites (www.atari2600land.com) (http://chrisread.comicgenesis.com) and see if my little shortcut icons are there? If so, please give me a screenshot of them. I'm having the craziest time with icons not reupdating on MIE and I'm wondering if I did them right.
Well, he's out of the hospital and in a rehab place, but the rehab place is so horrible, mom thinks he'd be better off at home, so she's working hard to get him out of there. As for when he gets out, there are two possibilities: #1 - We move over to his house (and bring along our cat and dog) and stay with him alongside a caretaker; or #2 - We sell his house and try to find him a NICE nursing home for him. I am vehemently against #1 because he has a cat and I have a cat, and I don't like the ide
I need to have an update for my KWVT Video site. But first, I need some videos. One that I have in mind is a station identification in which they show buffalos eating grass, which is weird because there aren't any buffalos roaming around in northwestern Oregon. Maybe they're bison, I don't know. Anyone out there know the difference between a buffalo and a bison? Well, anyway, here's how I go about putting videos on my site.
#1 - Sit in my room watching KWVT. My VCR is hooked up to an indoor ant
Well, here's a picture of all my 218 games I've collected so far. There is a third short column in the bottom shelf that you can't see, but it's there. Some day I hope to outgrow this thing, but that'll be a long way away (I'd need about 300 games to do that.) And yes, I'm counting my repros of Elk Attack and Ixion. Not pictured: My 2600 four-switch.
Here are the games I've been playing this month:
1. Mario Kart DS
2. Galactic Pinball (VB)
3. Ixion
4. Wario Land (VB)
5. Strat-O-Gems Deluxe
6. Dr. Mario
7. Crosswords DS
8. Lynx Casino
9. Mario Kart Wii
10. Toobin' (NES)
I got two new 2600 games in the mail today from combat16: Pressure Cooker and Plaque Attack, which brings my total to 218.
My grandpa is about to die. Apparently, it'll be soon. He checked into the hospital about a month ago and hasn't left since. Right now he's so weak he can't get out of the bed, and he has difficulty breathing, so me and my mom figure it's only a matter of time before he dies. Which is sad for him because he didn't really want to die. Oh well, you have to die sometime, right? Sure, I'll miss him, but not as much as I did his wife (grandma died about the same time 3 years ago.) But, I guess this
As most of you already know, I pump out a whole bunch of bB games without really having a chance to make them shine. But this one I think is really nice. And I think I'll keep working on this one to the end. I know I say that about every game, but I didn't really have the programming skills necessary to make ToobBin' a great game. So, I present to you the first of many versions of my new game, Squared Away.
PLAYING:
At the title screen, press fire to start a new game.
You are the yellow sq
Well, today was another hot day. I'm looking forward to Tuesday and Wednesday, where the highs will supposedly not reach 60. I'm not sure what the high was today. Last time I was awake, it was 89, although that was around 3pm. You see, if you fall asleep when it's hot, you won't feel hot. I guess that's the strategy of our dog and cat, as most of the day they look like they're dead. My cat is 15 years old, so I wake her up occassionally to see if she's still alive. In the morning when it wasn't
Well, it is hot in here. The high yesterday was 88 and the high today was 99. Why couldn't it just be 100? I mean it's only 1 degree hotter. My dog isn't taking it well. He has a whole bunch of fur (Lhasa Apso), and he's been panting a lot. I did manage to fall asleep on the couch today even though it was really hot. It's only been two days, but I'm sick of having to stay in front of the fan all the time. Literally sick . It doesn't really help all that much anyway. I wish we had air conditionin
Hot weather here in Salem for the next few days. Today 88, tomorrow 96. I opened the paper, and in the weather page, it said 100 for tomorrow (though the paper is usually wrong). So now I'm really anxious for tomorrow to get here, just to see how hot it gets. I got the fan out yesterday before all this hot weather. I'll tell you how hot it gets today and tomorrow.
Beck has just finished making a new album tentatively called "Modern Guilt." At first, I didn't know the title of the album, only that something by him was to be released "at the end of this year". Now I hear it'll be out next month, hopefully in CD form, if not, I'll have to go over to my sister's house and download it. But I'm worried about two things. #1: This is Beck's shortest album yet - only 10 songs, and #2: He says he has no plans now. This album marks the end of his record deal with In
It seemed like a good idea at the time. Players fill in crossword puzzles using the stylus on the DS. But there seems to be a flaw in the writing recognition: Make a line straight down the pad. You get the letter I, right? No, it says that's an L. Apparently it doesn't matter that all the other letters switch to a default UPPERCASE font once written in the square. So, you either have to put lines above and below it, or make a small line with a dot on top of it. Apart from the occasional miscues
Here's a minor revision from the one I posted in post #10 of this topic in the bB forums about my game. This fixes any previous bugs that I know of. Now what I need to do is how to figure out how to end level 1 and go to level 2. I have a pretty boring end sequence in mind for ending levels (the guy simply floats down to the bottom of the screen and another river pops up.) But the question remains: What must you do in order to get to the next level? Suggestions encouraged and welcomed.
I'm trying to port Toobin' over to the 2600 using bB. It's not going very good, especially the title screen. I even have an alternate name for this project: 2600bin'. Well, anyway, it starts out with an AtariAge splash screen (which every game apparently does nowadays), then the title screen. Where to start? The music sounds awful and the O's keep disappearing and reappearing on the screen (I want them to bounce around and when they hit the side of the screen, bounce off into the opposite direct
Well, it was one year ago today that I first got my Lynx, which means it's also my first anniversary of collecting games for it. So here's the games I have to show for it:
Awesome Golf
Baseball Heroes
Basketbrawl
Batman Returns
Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure
Block Out
California Games
Chip's Challenge
Crystal Mines II
Dirty Larry
Gates of Zendocon
Gordo 106
Hockey
Hydra
Ishido
Jimmy Connors Tennis
Klax
Kung Food
Lynx Casino
Malibu Bikini Volleyball
Ms. Pac-Man

This is what I originally had more in mind before GoSub. In an idea dated April of 2004, 4 years later, it is beginning to become reality. I don't think there was a multisprite kernel when GoSub was made, so I was only limited to 2 sprites. Now, using some TIA registers and the multisprite kernel, I can have up to 25 enemies (although there won't be that many.) It plays like GoSub, only in this one you can touch the walls and not lose a life. I'm limiting myself to 4k, and I think I can cram 18
Lynx Casino delivers what it promises: A casino on the Lynx. In this game, you walk around a casino playing different casino games. In that respect, it plays like Caesar's Palace, only instead of a cursor, you get a man walking (Maybe it's just me, but he seems to be very upset for some unknown reason.) I like casino video games because it's a chance for me to go to a casino without losing money. I don't really like gambling, except in video games when i don't risk losing lots of money. My favor
My sister Stacie and her boyfriend John are still wondering what a good name for their baby boy that's due in September is. Seeing as how John is a Monty Python fan (as am I), I suggested Ausfernschplendenschlittercrasscrenbonfrieddiggerdingledangledongledungleburstein-vonknackerthrasherapplebangerhorowitzticolensicgranderknottyspelltinklegrandlich-grumblemeyerspelterwasserkurtslichhimbleeisenbahnwagengutenabendbitteinnurnburger-bratwustlegerspurtenmitzweimachluberhundsfutgumberabershonendanker-
I got some games for my 5200 today. They work fine, the system seems to work fine (it's from Value Village), but the controllers don't. Well, the start button kinda does. I had to press it with a pair of scissors to get it to work. The fire buttons don't work. I tried playing Galaxian and couldn't get the ship to fire. The only game I know that works fine so far is Pac-Man. All the other ones work, but I can't play them because the stupid fire buttons don't work. Oh well, at least I have a worki
This poem is something i wish i had the guts to say to my shrink. of course if i did, he'd tell me he'd want to see me more often.
"Tell me, why do you feel this way?"
Because you're being a f---ing a--hole to me
Telling me that what i feel,
my heart's desire
it's all wrong
Telling me to supress it, ignore it, control it
You da-- normals are all alike
carrying on the charade, the facade
that life's OK, well, it's a fraud
Spewing stuff professors told you to say
when you come
Well, Nintendo Wii seems to be loved by everyone...except me. They went and ruined Mario Kart! They made it way too hard. They could have at least made an option to control the game by the Control Pad instead of twisting and turning the stupid remote. I kept falling down in Wario's Gold Mine every 5 seconds. So now I'm probably going to have to hire someone to beat the game for me so I can actually have fun with it. Argh! Well, anyway, at least Virtual Boy and Galactic Pinball is fun, so not a
I got myself a Virtual Boy. The games that came with it are Galactic Pinball, Wario Land, Red Alarm, Mario Tennis and Mario Clash. I've only had a chance to play Galactic Pinball so far. It's a very cool game. The reason I haven't played it for very long is because I was figuring out how to put the cartridge in. Apparently, some idiot put a cart in with the cover on and the cover got stuck. Fortunately I was able to shake it out. No dreaded red lines on the screen either. Now I have every Ninten
