While the relative size of a Lynx game is small, the value of it to me is way bigger. I have a few new additions to my Lynx library. By the way, if I were you, I'd expect another Lynx review soon. I've been slacking off on them. I can't do every single game (for example, I have no clue how to play Baseball Heroes, because I don't know much about baseball), but I'll do as many games as I can play. In other news, I've been sleeping better. I slept for 10 hours. The clock on my VCR in my room has b
I've been having a tough time staying asleep lately. I'm used to laying there with my eyes closed for about 15 minutes before I actually go to sleep, but now I can only stay asleep for a couple hours before I wake up and have to use the bathroom. Then I can't go back to sleep because I'm up. So my schedule has been this thus far: Go to sleep for a few hours, wake up for about 8-10 hours, then repeat ad nauseum. So, I might catch the bus downtown and do a little window shopping this morning, or I
Onward with my collection of movies that begin with the letter Q. I got The Quick and the Dead at Best Buy for $7. I haven't watched it yet but plan to either tonight or Sunday. Mom wants me to get Quigley Down Under because she likes Tom Selleck. It wasn't at Best Buy, but there were a whole bunch of Magnum PI box sets. She found the first season of the original Route 66 series (the 60's one) but didn't buy it. Oh, and I got Mario Party DS there too. There were two copies left. Last time there
Here's my new site. It's called OriCrap because I couldn't think of a better title. I've given up on Tic-Tac-Toric for now and instead am working on a game called "@dventures of the @t symbol!" It's kind of like Robotron 2084, but using text characters. Guide the little @ symbol and shoot other punctuation marks to see who will come out on top of the punctuation mark war! Expect a .tap file on the OriCrap site tomorrow.
Well, my programs are written in BASIC, so it could probably be done on any Oric-like machine, but I chose the Oric because it's unique. This next program I'm working on is a tic-tac-toe game called "Tic-Tac-Toric." A few months back, you may remember my Tic-Tac-Toe program using batari Basic. I'm just importing the logic to the Oric, and, unlike Puckman, this program will have sound! Wow! You are X, and the Oric is O (seems fitting that the Oric would be O because Oric starts with O.) The playi
I'm working on a website that features silent Felix the Cat cartoons from the mid 20's. I found these on a cheapie public domain cartoon DVD collection and bought it for the reason that these were on them. I found them interesting, and if you do, here's the link:
Silent Felix the Cat Cartoons
I'll be adding more until my supply of 6 or 7 is exhausted and I'll have to go on the hunt for more.
Yesterday, I went out and got the mail three times, the last attempt being at 4:30, and each time, nothing. Then, at 11:30pm, I got the idea to check once more (i was expecting something important), and sure enough, there was the mail. And in the mail was 4 Atari 2600 games. And after hours of sitting in 30 degree weather, they still worked! I opened the box and they felt cold, so I wondered if they would work or not. So now my total is 188, and I hope to get to #200 early this year, which will
Here's a list of my favorite movies.

Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (1970s, from childhood)
Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975)
Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie (1996)
Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)
Planet of the Apes (1968)
Reservoir Dogs (1992)

I'm only planning to get an account on YouTube if
A.) I can get permission from enough people to post their ads on it, and
B.) If I can get it to work correctly.
So that means going around asking various companies of those who advertise on KWVT (which you can count using one hand) and KWVT themselves. I e-mailed (annoyed) Mike, the owner (co-owner?) of the network a lot, and he's a nice guy, so I e-mailed him asking permission to use a station identification piece. I imagine it would be a
I hope to one day have something like one of the web's best places for videos, For Portlanders Only!, but for Salem. It is a very few select group in Salem that know that there's an over-the-air station called KWVT on channel 17, mainly for the fact that it's not on Comcast. I think the cable system in Brooks has it, and some other puny town's cable has it, but not Salem Comcast. Nuh-uh. They hate us because Comcast is evil. When I first read about then-channel 52 in the newspaper (they moved to
Finally discovered. I was going through some tapes, and thought that I had reached the end of what we've recorded (in 1988). I let the tape go for a few seconds, and sure enough, something popped up: The credits to a miniseries called "Kennedy" and most of the 11 o'clock news from that day. That day happened to be November 21, 1983, apparently the 20th anniversary of the JFK assassination. West Germany was still a country, KUPL played easy listening instead of country, and Darryl Strawberry was
It snowed on Xmas day! It didn't stick, though. It was cool to see snow on Christmas Day, albeit only a couple hours worth. I think I ate too much and am afraid to step on the scale! So I won't weigh myself for a few days (even though I don't really care how much I weigh.) And now, to the topic of my blog.
On May 5, I got my Lynx at Game Crazy and along with it, three games (Calif. Games, Toki and Baseball Heroes). Since then, I've got 33 more, all from the internet. Here are my favorites fo
All the buzz weather wise in the Portland area is the possibility of snow on Christmas. Some stations say Christmas night, while others like the Weather Channel say Christmas morning. If it snows on Christmas morning, I won't be able to get any of my presents because they're all at my sister's house and Mom absolutely refuses to drive in the snow. But if it snows on Christmas night, that'll give me something to do while the Blazer game is at halftime. The last time it snowed on Christmas here is
First off, I'd like to thank AJ Franzman for the Strawberry Shortcake game with instructions that I bought from him. I've been wanting this game for a long time, and finally I got it. I don't know why I wanted it, I just did. I just feel like I should have it. My sister watched a whole bunch of Strawberry Shortcake when she was a kid. And guess what? She's back in style. (Strawberry Shortcake), along with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and other stuff from my youth, except Pogs. I want pogs to be
With all the attention my Lynx has been getting lately, my Atari 2600 has been jealous as it sits there. So later today I think I'll play it. As for what games, I haven't decided yet, but I'll be getting more choices soon. Right now I have 181 Atari 2600 games (still.) I am expecting a Lynx package soon, I went to get the mail but it wasn't in there. I guess when the holidays are here, the USPS really slows down.
Here's a poem I'm working on called "Sheep." It's basically me ranting about how I hate the medical industry, only it rhymes. I'd post this in the Religion and Politics forum, but I can't seem to get in. I think it sounds Nine-Inch-Nails-ish, but that's for you to decide. I'm posting it in a .txt file because it's too long to post here.
*Not work-safe* (especially if you work for the gov't. )
Here's the latest thing I'm working on. Since GoSub 2 needs a Superchip, I'm halting work on it until there's an affordable way to release it. Enter "Project X", a game in which you paint all of the playfield while avoiding either one or two Xs (depending on what level you're on). I also added an attract/demo mode that's kind of like Ms. Pac-Man's (once a death happens, it goes back to the title screen). This is only going to be 4k, and I'll approach Albert once the Holiday rush is over about ad
And their 7-game winning streak?! If it weren't for Boston doing so wonderful, they'd have the longest winning streak in the NBA. And it's all without one of their leading men, LaMarcus Aldridge, who is coming back next game tomorrow vs. New Orleans. But we've proved we don't even need him to win games. Here's the teams they've beat in their seven-game winning streak:
Memphis, Miami, Milwaukee, Utah (twice!), Golden State, and now add Denver to the list! But, they've got to lose sometime, bette
In sixth grade, there was a bully named Eli. But I got my revenge (sort of) by drawing a comic book about him. In it, he was incredibly stupid. That was right around when I turned 13 (in 1994). Fast-forward 13 years later and even though Eli is completely gone, I'm still drawing the comic book series about an incredibly stupid kid named Eli. I only do one when I feel like it (I just finished issue 29), so a little bit of that bully lives on to me to this very day. These comic books I make are ju
I've just recently started drawing my comic in Microsoft Paint rather than the old fashioned way with a pen and paper. Mind you, there's nothing wrong with pen and paper (I still prefer drawing my other comics this way.) But with Paint, I can now do them in glorious color. And, by saving them in the PNG format (as opposed to the JPG that my scanner saves them), they take up less room on my computer. I bet I could get my scanner to save them to PNG format, and maybe buy Photoshop or something tha
The Portland Blazers beat the Utah Jazz at Utah by 8 points. Now, if they could only win tonight against Golden State at Portland...
NBA team names are really weird. Take for instance, the Golden State Warriors. Why is it Golden State, why not the San Francisco Warriors or the Oakland Warriors? It'd make a lot more sense. And the Utah Jazz? There is no jazz in Utah. They should rename the team the Utah Beehives or something and give the Jazz name back to New Orleans who is now called the Hornet
I was intrigued by the title and screenshots. So I finally got a hold of the game and I was impressed. This is basically a Lynx version of the Virtual Boy game "3D Tetris". Holding B and up/down or left/right and a B-A combo rotate the block on either X, Y or Z axis, and A drops the block down into place. This game is kinda hard to get the hang of, so California Dreams was nice enough to add a Practice Mode, which is just like a regular game except the level (and the rate of block falling) doesn
The "D" standing for Digital this time instead of "Disney". If you're asking about the DTV Valentine's Day special, NO, I don't have it any more, so quit asking for it. If I ever get a new VHS-to-DVD converter machine, I will let you know.
Now, to the aforementioned rant. Apparently, I must be the only one in the world that thinks analog television is fine. The picture quality is fine with me. Call me Mr. Slowsky, but it's true. And I like to watch various channels coming in from my weak ind
I got a nice package in the mail. Why was it nice? Because it contained Robotron 2084 and Block Out for the Lynx. I also went to Game Crazy and got some Master System games. I got Alex Kidd in Miracle World, Penguin Land, and Zaxxon 3D (I need some Sega 3D glasses, though, something I didn't know when I bought it. D'oh!) So now Hang On/Safari Hunt isn't lonely. I might do some more Lynx reviews soon if I feel like it.
I was expecting two packages to come in the mail. One came today. Inside it was Rygar and Stun Runner for the Lynx. That now brings my Lynx collection total to 32. Once the other package arrives, it will be 34. I like Lynx collecting. It's very fun. What's also fun is playing the games. I don't know where to get isopropyl alcohol though, as Wal*Mart doesn't have it. I have a lull in my 2600 collection, though; still stalled at 181 games. I guess once you have all the rarities 1 & 2, it's kin
