Troll routes

So I started work on the PlayStation game I'm making again. Jack and the Beanstalk. You know, the silent one . Anyway, I tried to make the troll chase after Jack, but it looked bad, so I tried to make the troll bump into the trees and not go through them like Jack does. I must have spent four hours trying before I decided it was useless and gave up. Instead, I have the troll go a patterned route, which is much more predictable. I think I'll have the castle guards chase after Jack once you climb

Triple Fun

I have an idea. The idea is make this new Intellivision game I started work on, make a version of Yum for the Intellivision, make a third game I haven't thought of yet, and put it all together and call the thing "Triple Fun." I figure the games aren't going to be very large, so I can just make three 16k games and put them on one ROM along with a title/game selecting screen. I don't know about the Lemons game I started for the Intellivision. I kind of lost steam on it. I want to finish it, but

Trimerous on sale now.

So this morning the power went out. It was only like 10 seconds or so, but it was enough to screw up the clocks, AND MY VCR/DVD RECORDER. Which I just had working in my room a few days ago. I tried to get the thing working again. I couldn't. But then I went to the post office and got 24 boxes to mail Trimerous cartridges in. Then I went and got a burger. After that, I tried for about an hour and finally got the stupid VCR/DVD recorder working again. So now I'm selling Trimerous (there's a preord

Trimerous (Channel F) update - 7/8/2020

There will be 2 dozen copies for sale. You'll get a Trimerous cartridge complete with lovely labels and instruction booklet in a lovely box. It's not ready yet. I will make a for sale thread for the game in the Marketplace forum when I am ready. I don't know when I will be ready. It may be a couple weeks or a couple months. Anyway, I want to thank e5frog for making all this possible. This isn't possible without him.   I actually woke up at a sane time (4 a.m.) It took some effort to st

Trimerous (Channel F) update

e5frog is putting the finishing touches on "Killer Heads of Lettuce." I am working on a manual. This will come with a full-color 8-page manual. Although I'm not sure what to put on page 2 and the back. I actually printed some full color manuals for "Kevin Vs. Tomatoes" but I didn't include them with the game for some reason. So if you have the game and want one, just PM me and I'll send you one. I guess it's because I didn't think it was worthy of a manual. But I think certainly Trimerous is, so

Trimerous (Channel F) news

So I have decided to go ahead with producing a first run of Trimerous, me and e5frog's Channel F game. It will be a while because e5frog is working on improving my code and adding stuff. I am making an 8-page color manual to go along with the game. Today I worked on the Golf part of the manual. I have 14 spare Channel F carts. I ordered another 11 off of eBay. So that will make me have 25. So I think the first run will have 25 carts, which will result in 22 up for sale. I want this game to be co

Triangle

So I was looking through all the songs i have ripped to my computer and found a song called "Triangle" by a group called "Sounds From the Ground." It's on an ambient music compilation CD I bought a while back. It was my sixth grade teacher (who I hated) that got me interested in new-age-type music, i think it was like on the second to last day, she brought in "One A.D." (volume One ambient dub) and I think that summer I was so intrigued I went out and bought it. This was the summer of 1994. Well

Trees and ponds

I had a marathon coding session last night which made my bedtime around 2 a.m. Just woke up about an hour ago. This one was for Skiing, the new Channel F game I've been working on. I've added some new obstacles. A tree and a pond now show up randomly, randomly placed. Also, the flags are now at a random x position. But they aren't really obstacles yet since you can go right through them with nothing happening. Collision detection should be easier than normal since the skier stays at t

Trapped

So I had to get my haircut today. Before that, I went to the store and got some eReader cards. Now I have Mario Bros., but I can't play it until I get Donkey Kong 3. That's the game loaded on the eReader now, but I don't have the cards for it. After my haircut, I decided to go to the record store. Bad move. The guy who owns it (he is a little crazy, mind you), apparently needed to go to the bank to get some change. He said "You guys like to wander around here for 15 minutes, right?" So Mom agree

Trapped

Well, I worked on GoSub for the Game Gear again. I wrote a SMS Power forum about my game, and they suggested I draw the coral in background and then to check for collisions do some thing I'e never heard of before. At least there is a way to do it. More help is needed. But at least today's job was semi-easy: drawing a coral square. I had to first make it in a 256x192 size, then check out the boundaries of the Game Gear's screen size, then make it visible in the Game Gear's screen. First time was

Transit Man!

Back when I was a kid, I got this "comic book" in school that was basically a tool to get kids to think about how fun the transit system is. And what could be more fun than a superhero? Thus, Transit Man was born. He didn't live very long, and nobody except me has ever heard of him, but that didn't stop me from making an Atari 2600 demo of him. Right now, you shoot the monster by pressing left or right & fire simultaneously. If you hit the monster, she'll make a roar sound. And that's it. Si

Transatlantic - "The Whirlwind"

Here are some notes I made while listening to the entire thing: Introduction similar to Pink Floyd's "Atom Heart Mother," slowly fading in with horns and samples. Then comes the beginning of the catchy song. Then, the next 6 minutes reminds me of the beginning of Dream Theater's "6 Degrees of Inner Turbulence." Seems fitting, as Mike Portnoy, Dream Theater's drummer, is part of Transatlantic. The first word is sung at almost the 7-minute mark. The main theme, the part that goes "We got caught i

Traitor!

For handhelds, I've always gone with Nintendo. I can remember buying the first Game Boy as a kid. But after the Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance and DS, I'm ready for a change. After seeing good things from other handhelds I've gotten from the past that are new to me (Nokia's N-Gage, Tiger's Game.com, Sega's Game Gear), I've decided I might get a PS Vita if there are actually going to be games for sale at stores and not downloadable only. Here's a list of some announced games that interest me:

Tracks

I've been working on Chris the Cranberry again today. While I was, I had a few instances where the entire screen flashed. I've had that happen before in games, but in this one, I wasn't doing much computing in it, or at least I thought I wasn't. But I think I have it squared away. I figured out my problem last night and I worked on it today and found another problem. But I think I solved it.   Here's what I am going to do. I will put the game's engine in the first 1k and the track info

Tougher

So I tried making an Intellivision game. I knew my skills were rusty as I hadn't done any in a long time, but geez. I guess I should just keep doing all the various things and not go weeks without skipping programming a console I know how to program for. I was trying to figure out what to do with the Fast Food game for the Game Boy. Then it hit me: Games usually get tougher and tougher the more you play a round. I figured this should be true with Fast Food as well. So I made it so the only spe

Touch the Dead

I got Final Fantasy Chocobo Tales and Touch the Dead for DS. The box for Touch the Dead is funny. "Rob Steiner has been jailed for a murder he has not committed. Suddenly he finds himself surrounded by bloodthirsty zombies!" I can just hear him go "Oh, great. Not only am I in jail, now there's zombies!" But the funniest part of the box has to be this: "Some games want to train your brain. We just want to eat it." It's the second game for the DS I know of rated M (the other is Resident Evil.) Oh,

Total lack of drawing skills.

So I have been TRYING to make a walking animation for Bob in the waffle game, but I just can't. Everything does not look like walking. I wish I could draw. I can't draw simple comics that look good. Must be because my arms shake too much for me to draw a simple line. I don't know why my arms shake. Must be because the first 25 or so years of my life were total crap and I can't get over being anxious subconsciously. But that's a different story for a different blog. This one is about drawing. And

Topless

I decided to try and get the top off my Game Boy so I could clean the dust under there. I mistakenly thought you'd need screwdrivers to do that, so I ordered some three wing screwdrivers off eBay. Well, turns out I didn't need them all that much. I tried once more and the top came off and I was able to get all that icky ickies out of there. Now I need to attach the top back on. I'm at a loss of what glue to use. I saw someone on a YouTube video using sandpaper, I guess he was doing that to remov

Top Whatever - February 2008

Here's a list of the games I've been playing for February. -I'm still on a Mario Kart DS kick, although I've been getting a little tired of it lately. -I made good with my promise and have played Tetris on GB. My current record is 199 lines. -I've been playing with my Game Gear, most of the time Sonic 2 and Super Columns. -Stella's Stocking. I don't see why people are bashing TC, though. But it could be just that I suck at playing video games. To quote Milhouse: "My mom thinks it's cool." -

Top o' the Evening!

Well, here it is, St. Patricks Day, and I don't have any green on. And you can't pinch me so neener. I tried to find my green shirt, but with no success. And it's a hot St. Patty's Day here, right now it's a quarter after 3 and 66 degrees. And I'm in Oregon. Yeah, I know. There's been a real "heat wave" here recently, and I feel sorry for the people up in New England stuck with all that snow. I got a couple of NES games for trade in future deals, (Super Pitfall, Caesar's Palace, California Games

Top Gear GT Championship

Company: Kemco Release Date: June 2001 (launch title) Size: 32 Megabits NP's rating: 2.5/5 (vol. 145 p. 119) ESRB rating: E   Finally, a game I can agree with the rating NP gave! After playing this for a half-hour, it's kind of an interesting game, but I noticed a few flaws, one of them being the helpful turn warnings stay on longer than needed, making the car go into the grass (or beyond the side of the track). Another one is that the cars seem like they speed up after the first lap. I kn
