Out of every system I've ever played, the second-best one is the Nintendo 64 (After the 2600, of course.). I don't really care about the fact that it has a "weird" and "big" controller. But what I do think, though, is that it really should have had way more games made for it. More puzzle games, especially. Also, what didn't help is that there were NO pinball games made for it (although there was at least at one time a mention of an unreleased game called "Addams Family Pinball." I wonder what be
A supplement to the Dutch Prog Rock Page's Long Song List, I'm making a Short Song List. So far I have 113 short ones, but I know there are probably thousands more, so I'm asking your help with making this. Anything less than 30 seconds qualifies.
Also, I'm still anxiously waiting the arrival of Fantasy Zone to complete my Tengen NES black carts collection.
I was looking for Game Informer issues in the pantry. There actually was a time where I was pressured into GameStop to get a one-year subscription to their magazine. I found one issue. It has a cardboard thing on it that says "RENEW NOW FOR UNINTERRUPTED DELIVERY!" in big, bold, black letters. I didn't. Well, anyway, out of all the issues I could have found (all 10 or so), I found one with a review of Donkey Konga 2 in it. So I scanned the review and put it up in the DK Bongos Society page. I wa
So I decided to attempt to change the background color of the score in MidSpace. You'd think it would be somewhat easy to do, but instead it took hours of moving code around and trying different things. I gave up a couple of times. But something made me come back to it. I think it was boredom. Well, anyway, I finally did it. When I was finished, I went to test it on a real Atari 2600. This can be game-breaking. It may look fine in Stella but the screen may still jitter on a real Atari 2600.
Well, the dog didn't stay in the garage. He didn't bark as much as I thought he would, and he completely shut up very quickly so I let him stay in my room with me while they were painting the ceiling. I don't know what they're planning to do tomorrow, though. To keep busy, I'm making a shrine for Mario Kart 64 and I also began working on my Tetris game again. There were a few bugs in the last version I released (version 11) that I fixed in a version 12 I'll upload tomorrow morning @ a little bit
Well, as it turns out, they're letting the octopus stay up until they find out who the winning bid is. So all that waiting for nothing. Anyway, I just went on eBay and bought my 300th Atari 2600 game. The game that got me to 300 is (drum roll please...) Skeet Shoot. Apparently it doesn't seem to be a very good game. That's OK, I also have Firefly from Mythicon.
I had this dream where I was making an album of Beatles songs set to disco music. I woke up and thought to myself, "man that was weird, but there's an idea in there." So I began today to make disco Christmas carols. Researching "Jingle Bells" lyrics, I had no idea there were 3 additional verses to it. Mr. Pierpont certainly went a little overboard. Right now I am listening to the soundtrack to Saturday Night Fever while I'm typing this. I think I'll add a string section to Deck the Halls. And I
So after sleeping for about 15 hours yesterday, I decided to get up. I could have slept longer since I have no life. I could sleep all day and all night just waiting to die. But that wouldn't be very exciting. Anyway, once I woke up, I began to work on Chris the Cranberry for the Odyssey2 again. I was trying to get a second track in the game, but with no luck.
Until I tried some idea I had. Why not make all four tracks just one giant data table and put different starting and ending p
I got very bored. How bored, you ask? Well, I put my SpongeBob SquarePants food box collection online. The oldest has an expiration date of 2005, and i still have the box. I eat all the foods that came in these boxes, and I will continue to do so unless it's something i hate. I don't especially like macaroni & cheese, but i ate it anyway because SpongeBob was on the box. Not only am I bored, I'm weird, too. I also have a couple Atari 2600 game boxes, but everyone here has seen them already i
Worked on Frank the Fruit Fly some more. Sometimes when I went to the password screen, it was kind of messed up. Other times it worked perfectly. So I wanted a wonderful working password screen. So I thought I'd take a second stab at redesigning it. This is what I got. Since the redesign, it has been working fine. But that doesn't mean it will always. Pokemon Mini game programming problems seem to pop up and disappear whenever they feel like it.
One thing I've also noticed is that the
So I went to the video game store. I called first to see if it was open. While I was there, I looked through the Game Gear games. I figured if I got Mortal Kombat 3, I might as well get 1 & 2. They didn't have two but they had 1. So I got it. I also got Aladdin since it didn't look familiar to me. Came home and as it turns out, I already had it. Oh well. This in turn led me to work on my Hamburgers En Route to Switzerland 2 game I forgot about.
Added the chocolate milkshakes that
I've just been looking through over almost 15 years worth of my comic book i make just to amuse myself (right now, i'm working on issue #431). Started at age 12, fifteen years later i am 26 years old and still working on it. Sometimes filled with current events of the day and my views on them, it's sort of a diary in comic book form. Most others are filled with two guys named Bill & George who do stuff, much like in the vein of Ren and Stimpy, or Frank & Ernest. They can go anywhere and
What an odd thing for me to say. Why do I envy her? She's getting to have her very own network. I want my own network. I am not content with my own show (although I would like a talk show. I'd say stuff normal people wouldn't. I think it'd be very entertaining.) Although my network would be almost nothing but MST3K reruns and Monty Python's Flying Circus marathons (along, of course, with my aforementioned talk show.) And I think I'm going to get it, too. That is, OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network.) It'
I just realized something: I need to program an ending for this game. That, and with me not working on this game very much, I'm probably going to have to limit it to 16 levels if I want to get it done in time for the competition. If it gets released at all, I'd add more levels, but for the competition, it's just going to have to be 16 levels. Just made level 13, so that means I have to program three more levels and an ending and thirty days to do all this. I bumped up my deadline to October 20 i
Well, today is new crossword puzzle magazine day. My favorite crossword puzzle magazine comes out 6 times a year, so it's a pretty significant day. While skimming through the crosswords, though, one name is noticably absent: Raymond Young. The crossword magazine tells who makes each one, and I love the way he makes them, but I fear he has no job with the magazine any more because his crosswords are too hard and weird-looking. I usually get a few clues to his, but I just love the way his look. An
So I just ordered a copy of Warhammer for N-Gage off eBay. And if everything goes well, all I'd need for a complete boxed US collection is Civilization. I'm not going to even try to get Sega Rally (a CIB copy is on eBay now...for $500). But I do wonder a few things. #1 - Why wasn't the N-Gage successful? I remember hearing about it back when it was new and thought it seemed pretty cool, but the one thing that put me off was I thought I needed a cell phone plan to play the games. Now I know that
I just got Volume 12 yesterday, and watched 2 of the 4 episodes last night. I was going to watch all 4 of them, but I got tired and went to sleep. I have #s 9, 11, and 12. I was a little late getting into this show, I got into it 8 weeks before the Sci-Fi channel stopped airing reruns back in 2004. I taped the last 6 reruns they aired before the stupid morons at the Sci-Fi channel quit showing them. If I had my way, I'd bring them back and never stop airing them - ever. Why not air the best show
The mind works in mysterious ways. While I was asleep I was apparently trying to think of ideas for my Far-Side-type comic strip. I woke up with two puns in my head, and, armed with a throat ache whenever I tried to lay down, I went to my bathroom where my crossword puzzle magazines were. Each issue has about 5 cryptic crosswords in them (I can't find the latest issue anywhere, though.) I wanted to see if maybe I can work my puns into a cryptic crossword. In each issue, there's also an article a
The Portland, Oregon restaurant called "Greek Cuisina" has closed, and the giant octopus that sits atop the restaurant will be coming down. FOX 12 said they'd bring live coverage of the giant octopus statue coming down. They said it would come down at 8am. At 8:30 am, the octopus was still up there, and now it's a quarter after 10 and FOX hasn't interrupted regular programming to give us the live coverage they promised. I had to watch "The 700 Club" and right now I'm watching an infomercial abou
On Thanksgiving, it was just me, mom and dad eating spaghetti and garlic bread. Mom had to pick Dad up and take him over here and then take him back. On the way home from taking him back, we stopped at Fred Meyer (a local department store) on our quest to find more LED lights and/or chasers. We couldn't find any, although I did get some CD/DVD pens and a few DVD-RWs. Today, we tried to go to the record store I mentioned in last time's blog, but it was closed so we went to another one instead and
Well, how I draw my M-Sat comic is i take a 8.5x11 page and I draw six comics on it. Probably not how most single-panel cartoonists do it, but I like it that way. I usually draw them one at a time, keeping the paper in a safe place until I have six comics on it. Then I take the piece of paper with 6 comics on it, run it through the scanner, go into Paint and reduce the size by 75%. Then, I divide them into 6 seperate ones using Paint. If I'm doing my Sunday comic, then I reduce the size by 60% a
Well, after saying I wanted to go to the library to do research on my Keizer site, I finally got the first of what I assume will be many trips out of the way. As a result, three articles have been added. I hope to have this site done by November 2, 2012. It's a 30-year retrospective on the city. I was born on the day they voted to make it a city. As a result, my birth announcement was in the same day's paper as the first article posted on the site. After the library, I went to Straight From New
I got HERO today in the mail, so I now have 225 Atari 2600 games which means I only have 75 more to go until I reach 300. Also, I'm working on GoSub for Oric Basic, for those of you who don't read the Homebrew Discussion forums. I doubt very many people even know what an Oric is. I'm from the United States and I've never even heard of it until I read the Minigame Compo back years archive 2 years ago. Well, I was looking through trying to find out how to program for it, and one of the sound effec
Ever since I found that website that converts MIDI files to MP3s, I think I'm going to give my family members a CD of 45 minutes' worth of music I composed for Christmas. So that means basically I'm going to burn 4 copies, one for mom, one for dad, one for my sister and one for myself in case i lose the computers they're stored on right now. The first thing they'll ask when they open it is, "Is this the usual disgusting off-key singing of stupid songs we're used to?" See, I record really disgust
So I have decided to go ahead with producing a first run of Trimerous, me and e5frog's Channel F game. It will be a while because e5frog is working on improving my code and adding stuff. I am making an 8-page color manual to go along with the game. Today I worked on the Golf part of the manual. I have 14 spare Channel F carts. I ordered another 11 off of eBay. So that will make me have 25. So I think the first run will have 25 carts, which will result in 22 up for sale. I want this game to be co
