After ten months of not having anything Atari 2600, I went to Value Village this morning, and to my surprise, there were 12 Atari 2600 games. They were ones I already had, though, and were horribly overpriced, but just to support the cause of selling Atari 2600 games (there were some boxed Inty games, too, like Sea Battle.) I got an Atari version of Othello. Put it into the Atari 2600, and it worked! It beat the heck outta me before I turned it off in disgust, but at least it worked. So, friends
Keeping with my Pac-Man fix, anyway, I wasn't that big of a Pac-Man fan. I thought to myself, I have all these Pac-Man games laying around. I know Pac-Man was (is) a big fixture in video game history (like Mario or Sonic), so I thought, well, why not try playing them for more than a few rounds? Well, I did, and I've grown to like the yellow fellow and his wife (girlfriend? She's Ms. Pac-Man, not Mrs. Pac-Man.) So, well, anyway, I got a Tengen version of Pac-Man for NES in a gray cart, which alon
I did some research and found that there are a whole bunch of different Pac-Man games for different systems. Here's a complete list. *=Ms. Pac-Man: Maze Madness.

If any of you have an Atari 5200 or 7800 version of Ms. Pac-Man out there you don't need, why not give it to me. I want to have e
The good news: My teeth are just fine. The bad news: I have go back again in 6 months. Argh! More good news/bad news. Good news: I got to go to Best Buy and get a game. Bad news: The game's box had a sticker on it which was a real pain to get off and now the box is kinda screwed up (Well, not really, but it kinda has some residue and faint scratch marks from where I tried to get the sticker off.) The sticker was advertising I'd get 5 "Nickbucks" for getting it (whatever those are.) Couldn't they
Tomorrow is that time of year again, DENTIST TIME!!!! Argh! I don't know why they have to put it so close to my birthday. Well, anyway, since the medical plan I'm on has reduced me to once every 12 months instead of 6, my sister said they'd try to get me to still go every 6 months by putting me on a 'special needs'-type thing. My teeth are fine, thank you. They don't hurt. Sure there may be a cavity or two, but unless I need a root canal or something (knock on wood), I'm not really special needs
So, I was at the record store, and there were two versions of Karn Evil 9, one split up into 4 tracks and one 29-minute track. Guess which one I got? This couldn't be false advertising because it said "5. Karn Evil 9" and after that was track 6, which begins the bonus track portion of the album. And not only is there a long song on this CD, there's also a long song title (I don't collect those.) Do you think "When the Apple Blossoms In the Windmills of Your Mind I'll Be Your Valentine" is a lon
That's the title of my next "album." So I don't get totally bored, I used to make up songs and sing them on a tape recorder. I did two albums in 2002, and I thought I'd do one since I haven't in 5 years, and it took about 10 months to finish this one. If you thought the parody "There's a kind of flush" was bad, then you definitely don't want to hear this one. Some of the more interesting titles of the songs I've sung/instrumentals include:
Fun With Salt
Atomic Feast
Samanaranarapeli
Notor
Well, I got back from Best Buy VHS-to-DVD recorder-less. They only had one and it was out of stock. Not only that, the warehouse didn't even have one. So if I wanted it, I'd have to pay for it before I got it while it was shipped from another warehouse, and I didn't want to do that. But I didn't go away empty-handed. I got a really nice Herman's Hermits CD that has all their hits on it. I like "I'm Henry the VIII, I Am", but I'm in the middle of writing a parody of "There's a Kind of Hush".
Here's a list of games that prominently feature Ms. Pac-Man that I have:
-Ms. Pac-Man (Atari 2600)
-Ms. Pac-Man (Lynx)
-Ms. Pac-Man (SNES)
-Ms. Pac-Man: Maze Madness (N64)
-Ms. Pac-Man (Sega Genesis)
I didn't know I was such a big Ms. Pac-Man fan! So I guess the only ones I don't have are the ones on Game Boy and NES, unless the Saturn had one. My poor Saturn. It sits there hardly being played at all. I'm wondering whether I should have bought it seeing as how I only have two games f
I fixed my Sega Genesis! What was wrong was the pin in the RF switch was bent. I don't know why I tried to unbend it again, but I did. Using a pair of tweezers, I managed to pull it out from the side, and then got it straight again. Now I can enjoy my Sega Genesis and its games again! I also tried to unscrew the screws from my Game Gear to figure out why it wasn't working, but I hurt my finger trying. I laborously tried to unscrew some screws, I even used WD40 to no effect. So I had some dead sk
I fell asleep while waiting for the mail to come (it was about 3 pm.) Suddenly, Mom came home and went and got the mail. I got Dolphin for the 2600 (thank you jboypacman), as well as Warbirds and Hockey for the Lynx (thank you yojimbo.) My Atari collection now totals 178 for the 2600 and 26 for the Lynx. I mailed a money order to a company for two more Lynx games and I'm hoping they'll come by the end of this week. My six-month anniversary having the Lynx will be November 5, and by then I want a
Instead of 1, I now have 2! I just got Sonic 3D Blast (the other one is Hyper 3D Pinball), and it's kind of tedious making sure all the enemies are killed before you go on to the next stage. I like the boxes for Saturn games, so I'm collecting them CIB. They had a few new Atari 2600 games, but they were all ones I already have. I played Legend of Spyro: Eternal Night for GBA a little bit this morning and it's basically like Ghost Rider and TMNT: Enemy kill-fest. Luckily, there's an easy setting
With only 2 1/2 more months to go until the end of the year, the end of an era is nearing. I'm not sure what the last (official) GBA will be, or when it will come out, but it will be soon. And there will probably be homebrew games on emulators to burn onto chips or whatever so you can plug them into your GBA and play them (Qwak is the first sold GBA homebrew), but it won't be the same unless a big-time game maker will do it. Don't get me wrong, the GBA has had a very long run by today's standard
I'm trying to make an Adventure-type game where the square is the diamond and Daffy is the dragon. Inspired by the minigame in the new DS Daffy Duck game. To quote NP: "Daffy's dream to star in a strategy adventure game comes true, but as a late-'70s adventure game. The pixels get larger and the music turns to blips and beeps as Daffy tries to collect a diamond on each level. You must use the stylus (or in this case, the joystick) from screen to screen, eluding and distracting Daffy all the way.
I want every single curved lip Lynx game ever made. All 71 of them. I looked through the AtariAge rarity guide and came up with that number after subtracting all the non-curved-lip Lynx games. Why don't I want the not curved lip ones? Knowing me, I'd probably get one stuck in there without being able to pull it out. Well, anyway, here's a list of what I need in order to achieve my goal. I'm 1/4 of a ways there (with 24 of them so far).

Welcome from the Land o'Lynx. Now I'll review Switchblade II. The thing I'd like to know most of all is where is Switchblade I? Anyway, Switchblade II is basically like Toki only a little bit easier and with codes, but they are kind of hard to activate. At the title screen, you're supposed to move the buttons on the + pad clockwise until you see a flash and then repeatedly press up. Whose "brilliant" idea was that? I'd much rather have a sequence of buttons to press than some convoluted code lik
I looked back through my entries because I thought I had attempted to make this game before. Sure enough, I tried in April. Six months later, I'm trying to make it again, and the chances are better that I might actually succeed this time. Why?
#1 - I now have the Atari 800 and Commodore 64 versions for research (This version is more similar to the Commodore 64 version.)
#2 - My programming skills have increased since then. I now know about Superchip RAM and how to take advantage of it. This no
It's that time again! Since I've missed the last one, I've been looking like a hawk in the classifieds for the flea markets. And I found it on Friday. And apparently, it's gotten bigger. It used to be in the Jackman-Long building at the fairgrounds (about the size of an average grocery store.) Now, it's being held at the Armory. I don't know how big that is because I've never been to the Armory before, but mom says it's bigger. We're going at about 11am because before that, Mom has to take her f
I like jazz. I also like long songs. So liking a long jazz song would obviously work. How does 20:49 strike you? I'm in the middle of listening to "One of Another Kind" by VSOP, a jazz quintet with Freddie Hubbard, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter and Tony Williams, as they are playing to 30,000 Japanese jazz lovers at a concert. I don't necessarily like "concert" albums, mainly it's because I find the yelling and cheering distracting to the actual music, but the musicians cover the app
Hello, and welcome to today's blog, where I will list all the rarity 3s I don't have (I want them all. Basically, I want any 2600 games I don't have. I want any Lynx games I don't have. I'd have a 5200 and 7800, but haven't run across any at my local stores. Needless to say, I love Atari. The only reason I have a Lynx is by chance someone dropped one off at a local used video game store along with 3 games for it.) Well, anyway, here's the list of stuff I don't have (and I don't count Sears stuff
Well, there was a window cleaner who was supposed to come by and clean our hard-to-clean windows. He came round Monday and said he couldn't do it then, as the tree-trimming service the park hired was in the way. And they "trimmed" the trees. I should take an after picture as I have a before one, too, so you can see what they did to most of the poor trees here. Anyway, we haven't heard from him since. And, I wanted to go out yesterday, so what I did was move the couches back in case the pets deci
Now I'm ready in case they quit making AA batteries (I don't think they ever will, but then again, you can't get a new movie on VHS any more). I got the mail and inside was the Lynx AC Power Adaptor I bought. So now I can play my Lynx games without batteries! I don't know why the Game Boy had a stranglehold on the handheld market when the Lynx games were way better, and in color. The only Game Boy games I like are Super Mario Land 2 and maybe sometimes Alleyway, but that's it. With the Lynx; the
So, anyway, I got this Dream Theater 2-CD set, hoping to find a 42-minute-long track. Once I got it in the CD player, I was enraged because they broke it up into 8 different tracks, even though the liner notes and the back of the CD clearly said "6. Six Degrees of Turbulence - 42:04". False advertising? Probably. So, now I'm beginning to call all my long songs even longer. For example, I've been putting Thick As a Brick in my lists as two seperate tracks of 20 minutes+ each. Now, it's listed in
When I get tired of working on GoSub 2, I'll be making another alternate game. It'll be a dice game; apparently most commonly called Dice 10000 or 6-Dice. The playfield will represent the pips of the die, and the score will keep track of the score. The game has many different names (I learned it as Zilch), and here's a list of them:
-Zilch
-Foo
-Boxcar
-Crapout
-6-Dice
-10,000 Die
-Die 10,000
I don't think I'll be calling the game Crapout, though. I'll be using the variation of not b
I haven't done top lists in a long time. So here's the top 5 for the Lynx:
1. Shanghai
2. Pinball Jam
3. Power Factor
4. Switchblade II
5. Qix
that's only out of the 24 I have. If I counted stuff I've played on the Handy emulator, Lynx Casino would be somewhere in there.
And now, the top 5 games I've played for the 2600 this month:
1. Space Cavern
2. GoSub
3. Fast Eddie
4. Strat-O-Gems Deluxe
5. Trick Shot
And the DS:
1. Mario Kart DS
2. Drawn to Life
3. DK Jungle Cli
