As you could have guessed by yesterday's blog entry, I'm a big supporter of the uDraw GameTablet for the Wii. So much so that back when it was new (November 2010), I had made a little 8-page magazine about it, unsure if there was ever going to be an issue 2. With the announcement of SpongeBob SquigglePants, I can be sure of an issue 2, (that is, if THQ decides to release it!) I made a little website where I will post pdf files of the eZine about it. You can view issue 1 here. But be warned, it's
Ah, ah, ah, #5. #5. I also got some comic protectors. I got 5 of them. They were only 15 cents each. The comic store I go to, there were the two employees huddled down next to a TV watching a movie. Must have been a slow business day. I asked them about it and she said there hasn't been many people come in today. So now I have all five issues. What I don't understand is why this thing doesn't come out monthly. I like the comic book. There's usually like 5 or 6 stories each of varying amount of p
You want to know what I'm doing for Easter? I went to Fred Meyer this morning (they're open on Easter apparently.) and got myself, among other things, a turkey TV dinner. I thought since I usually do that for Thanksgiving, that I should treat myself to turkey on Easter too. And then I will yell at the TV because the Blazers are going to lose game 1 of the NBA playoffs. Mom got me some peeps and candy, but that's just about all that's special for this Easter. My sister is busy and I don't want to
I am going to report that Nintendo Stuff, the newsletter I made about the N64 in January and February 2015, is back! The May 2015 is up. I made two pages of it today, reviewing a N64 game that I had been slacking off on playing. But first I had to get my N64 out of the garage. I found one. I plugged it in with my N64 RF thing. It worked, but no sound. So I got out my other N64 console I had. Same thing. So I am going to throw away that RF switch. It took a while, but I found a nice red-white-yel
All was well in Floatingredcubeland. That is, until the green floating cubes invaded. As the border guard of Floatingredcubeland, your job is to stop the floating green cubes from coming into the country. This is the setup for a new game I want to make for the Channel F. I spent all night programming this thing and didn't get very far. All I have is a floating cube that you can move up and down. A little tune plays at the start of the game. I don't have a name for this game yet. I was thinking
So after a ton worth of more work, I think I finally have the button pushing problem solved in the password screen of Frank the Fruit Fly for the Pokemon Mini. Also, today is my half-birthday. I want cake. I was looking on the Wayback Machine's archives. I looked up atariage.com/forum/. In June 2006, I was doing this blog. I've been doing this blog shortly after I joined and it's been 13 years since I joined. Out of curiosity, I looked up atari2600land.com, my website. There it was, a snapshot o
Two by a British rock group called The Madness (one of the sides on one of them was scratched, but oh well), and one by the Toilet Boys (punk rock). I saw a third one by The Madness, but I didn't have enough money to get it. Might go back out later this week and pick it up. I'm still getting used to the new format, although "insert special item" doesn't work. None of the dropdown menus work on this thing, and it's really ticking me off. Oh well. Tomorrow, I turn 24 1/2, big whoop.
Right now, we are in the process of going through my grandparents' things to see what to keep and what to throw away. Most of the things are junk, but Mom has decided to keep things that her parents loved and cherished. I think I'll trust Mom to decide that aspect, but I know for sure that my grandma loved her small collection of Kliban cat stuff. So, apart from the shirts, which I think my Mom has already given to Value Village, I've decided I want to keep her collection alive. I found two cups
Last year when my sister went to San Francisco for vacation, she brought back a couple of newspapers since I said I wanted some. This year, she brought back like a half dozen. So here's a list of newspaper issues I have from various cities in Southern Oregon and Northern California:
Calistoga Tribune
Press Democrat (Santa Rosa, CA)
San Jose Mercury News
Times-Standard (northern CA coast)
The Weekly Calistogan
Napa Valley Register
Daily Triplicate (Del Norte County, CA)
News-Review (Roseb
Well, it didn't have a very long run, but it ended: The game store I went to on South Commercial is now closed for good. I went into the parking lot and I was expecting it to be open, but no. I was greeted with paper signs on the wall saying its last day was March 25, and an empty store. Now there's only one gaming store on S. Commercial: Game Crazy. So I went in there. It was still open. But man everything is overpriced. I was greeted with the sight of an Atari 2600 with a dozen or so games and
I woke up @ 9am. Mom said she took the dog out when I was sleeping. I gave Mom her pills. I have to hide them from her so she doesn't try to kill herself with them. And mine, too. Then Mom went and laid in bed and I worked on the computer until about noon and then made Mom take the dog out. Kept checking the mail. It never came until after 3pm. I got two games. I had to clean one intensively and finally made it work through my Intellivoice. Made some changes to the Secret Government Waffle Pro
I was getting kind of angry about the two songs that played in a lower volume than all the rest of them. Apparently I forgot that I made the volume not at max level for the first two songs, thus making them sound quieter than the rest of the ones I made for the game. So I decided to try something as a last resort. I went and made each note in both the songs louder. It was hard going note by note redoing what I had done before, but at least the composing of the songs was already done. So I think
Last night something wonderful happened. My team, the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes, won the 2006 NWL Championship! Since I live in Salem, I kinda have no choice but to root for them. The NWL, for those who don't know, is a minor-league baseball league (NorthWest League), consisting of 8 teams. Our major league affiliate (sponsor of sorts), is the San Francisco Giants. This is the third time the team has won the championships since the team started up 10 years ago. We also ended the season with the bes
Some games I make derive from hatred for others. Take for instance, Miner 2049er. If you fall off the edge of a platform, you die. Is that fair? No. So what I'm doing here is taking Miner 2049er's platform deals, replacing the miner with a headless chicken, and replacing the goal of walking along every single part of every platform (that's a stupid goal) into how many handfuls of henscratch Mike can get in 60 seconds. How to work the game thus far:
Flip the game reset switch using your favorite
I need someone that knows how to program better than I do to help me with the programming in GoSub. For more information, check out the Gosub topic in the homebrew forum, but it basically has to deal with blacking out the colors in the last level (level 19.) In order for this last level to work, I need the sub to change colors from black to red for the whole game. So say bye bye to Mr. Black sub (I think it's red on the NeoTokeo label anyway )
"Floyd the Flea ran away from home to join the flea circus. Help Floyd get there and jump on the infamous evil-yet-sad yellow blocks."
FTF is one of the first, if not the first, side-scrolling platform games for the Atari 2600. Right now, once you get past the hole, it repeats over and over again, but only because I haven't programmed the rest of the level in yet. Right goes right and fire is jump. This is an updated version from the one I posted in the bB forums earlier today.
After making GoSub for the 2600 and Virtual Boy, I thought to myself: What system needs more homebrew support and more games and I own it and an emulator for it. I've decided the Atari Lynx fits these guidelines. And, I figure it should be fairly simple to program. Unfortunately I can't seem to get the proper tools to start fiddling around with it because Karri's server is down or broken. Whether I go anywhere with this is uncertain. I've learned a little bit of C with my Virtual Boy experience,
Just when I thought they had it bad back east with all their snow they had this winter, I guess it must be our time now. The National Weather Service has put out a Winter Storm Warning starting at 2pm. Apparently all the stations are in agreement that it will be between 2-6 inches when it's all said and done. But I am still skeptical, even when the experts are predicting it. I have seen it much too often before: They say it's going to snow and then nothing happens. I will believe in sticking sno
So, what have I been doing since April 30? Not really anything unusual or different. I don't know what happened, it seems like the first few days of May went so fast like a blur. Well, anyway, I got to working on Toobin' for the 2600 again. I've made it so you aren't stuck at the top of the screen any more. I played Toobin' for the NES to see if I could get some ideas, and that was a major one I got. Another change is I made the guy 8 pixels wide so he fits on the innertube better. With him bein
I have announced over on the PVB forums that I am entering this year's game-making competition. I probably won't win, seeing as how I never did get even close to first the other two times, but I've been having this idea for a game for quite some time. I tried to implement it once, but I gave up in frustration. This time, though, I beat the problem I had the last time (I think.) and am ready to move forward. The last couple of hours have been spent creating my creation. I won't reveal what it is
Haven't been working on Castle of Doom. Instead I've begun a new song I made. It's a little inspired by Yes's "Tales From Topographic Oceans" in that there are four parts to it, each about 20 minutes long to fill up a whole CD and I'll probably have to overburn it to fit it all on one CD. So I sat down on the keyboard and began plunking notes. I found C, G sharp, and then a higher octave C. That led to this MIDI. This is the first part of part 1. I use this program called Cakewalk to make MIDIs
I was up until 4 am last night working on I Like Bacon. I am at the point where if I add new stuff it would probably crash the game, so all I can do now is just make changes to the stuff I have now. I put in a high score function. Discovered some Odyssey 2 limitations where doing certain things glitch on real hardware and not emulators. That was fun. Not. I have used 1,829 out of an allotted 2,048 bytes. I have 219 bytes left, which is less than 256, which means I would probably have a real hard
Here's a little bit more info on my Odyssey game I am making. It needs a red die and and blue die. Well, they really could be any color, but I wanted red and blue. I guess since they're primary colors, I don't know. I found some and I ordered them and they're on their way. I think I'll go to the office supply store and see what kind of paper they have that can be thin enough for a printer, yet thick enough for my liking. I slept all day yesterday. I think because I didn't get much sleep the day
I hate going to bed. I was about to go to bed, until I realized that in order to go to bed, I have to take my pill. Since I haven't done that yet, I decided to stay up. I worked on a thing to record and put in my show I make of weird stuff. I begun work on season 2. In season 1, I made stuff in the Atari 2600 and Odyssey 2 for the show, so I decided since I have INTYBasic on my new computer that I should do something for the show involving it. I took the song that was playing currently on my com
I must be the only one left making these types of puzzles, but here I am. I made a special Halloween Boggle puzzle for anyone who cares. It's #21. You can download it here. Also available are my previous 20 non-Halloween themed puzzles but they do have a theme. It's just not Halloween. I wonder if anyone will see it. Probably not, but it's just something I do to pass the time. How did it get so late? Oh well.
