I found my Game Boy Color. It was hiding from me. I knew where the games for it were. I only have 5 games for it. They are DKC, Wario Land 3, Dr. Evil: Welcome To My Underground Lair, Mario Golf and Super Mario Bros. DX. I would really like to have Shantae, after reading the article about the DS remake in this month's NP. I would like to have a DSi and be able to download games, too, but if I had a DSi, I probably wouldn't be able to figure out how to get it online. I don't know how to get my Wi
I got the octopus in GoSub for Virtual Boy moving! You can download the VB rom for use on emulators or Flash Boy here. The octopus won't harm you, though. Obviously I'll have to address that before it's finished.
After making GoSub for the 2600 and Virtual Boy, I thought to myself: What system needs more homebrew support and more games and I own it and an emulator for it. I've decided the Atari Lynx fits these guidelines. And, I figure it should be fairly simple to program. Unfortunately I can't seem to get the proper tools to start fiddling around with it because Karri's server is down or broken. Whether I go anywhere with this is uncertain. I've learned a little bit of C with my Virtual Boy experience,
Well, my hands froze, but day 1 is complete. We put some chasers on the fence and a lot in the bushes. It looks pretty good for just an hour's worth of work. Sure, there was the untangling of the lights, but we found the missing chasers! We didn't have them up last year because we had lost them. Like I said in my previous posts I want to have the best display in the whole neighborhood. We're thinking about getting one of those animatronic reindeer, seeing as how we live mostly with a bunch of se
For the first time in at least a few years, I got out my Microvision collection to see if it still works. I have two consoles. There was a 9-volt battery in one of them, so I put it in the right space and turned it on. A couple of random pixels. I turned it off and back on again. Nothing. I tested the other unit. The same problem. Could it be that both of them died in storage? Then I thought of something to try. I went and got a new 9-volt battery and put it in. I got a 180 score in Bowling. I
Well, today was the big day. After over a month of waiting, my Goat Store package came. Panic Bomber was in Japanese, so I couldn't really figure out what i was doing much, and i had no idea what the characters were saying, but it was kind of fun. I also got Thunderground, Cosmic Creeps and Popeye for the 2600. And now, I've ordered Golf for the Virtual Boy. Speaking of that, here's the latest on GoSub, a zip file with source and rom.
I fixed my Sega Genesis! What was wrong was the pin in the RF switch was bent. I don't know why I tried to unbend it again, but I did. Using a pair of tweezers, I managed to pull it out from the side, and then got it straight again. Now I can enjoy my Sega Genesis and its games again! I also tried to unscrew the screws from my Game Gear to figure out why it wasn't working, but I hurt my finger trying. I laborously tried to unscrew some screws, I even used WD40 to no effect. So I had some dead sk
Goal #1 of 2 of my Atari 2600 collecting has been reached. I got a second 2600. This one is a Vader (the other one is a 4-switch). Now, all I have to do is get 300 games. That's my second goal. Right now I have 256 (Off the Wall, Raft Rider and Lost Luggage came in the mail yesterday.) I just ordered Cosmic Creeps, Flash Gordon and Thunderground. Actually, my second goal was just to fill up my 2600 bookshelf (that'd take 288 games.) Then I thought, why not just shoot for a dozen more? I don't kn
So one of the things got crossed off my to do list: Make the elevators start at random y positions. But one thing is the same: They all start moving down. I have an idea on how to change it but I don't know how. What I want to do is check the rightmost bit and if it's a 1 (odd number), start moving up and if it's a 0 (even) start moving down. But I don't know how to check certain bits. e5frog and I worked on the random y position problem. We got it working good. But even after making three games
I thought that the new/password letters were too big so I decided to change it and make it smaller. I also made the title words go up so it didn't interfere with Frank flying in the words' way. So this is what it looks like now.
Yes, if you press down, you can move the arrow down and enter a password and pressing up moves the arrow up if it's not already there. Pressing A starts the game with the choice you made. When something like this is implemented, it's much easier than if there
So with renewed interest in my Golf game I decided to work on it some more. One of the things I wanted to do, and did, was made the power meter faster. One of the things I plan to do is add an ending tune to the game. I have to compose one first. People want 18 holes, but I don't really have any more ideas for holes, so if I do make 18 holes, I'd need help with course designing.
I updated the Golf site with version 42 and also posted it in the game's AtariAge thread. Another thing I
I have been lucky so far. I haven't yet slipped and called Pea-Man by another, more famous name. So I figure in order to keep the streak going, I should change Pea-Man's name.
I couldn't think up of anything better. So I decided on Pea-ter. It's a pun on the name Peter.
Also, I want to call the game "Peater the Pea," not "Hi! I'm Peater the Pea!" I worked a lot on cleaning up and tidying up what I have so it looks really great and not having artifacts and random junk left
The most interesting part of the night is when the power went out for three hours. After I put in a DVD of Jay Leno Headlines I made, three headlines in, the power went out. This was at 7 pm. So my mom and I played a game of Scrabble. She was ahead most of the time, but I pulled away and won in the end. With the power still not on, I lit a candle and drew some stuff. That got boring after a while, so I popped in V-Tetris for the Virtual Boy and began playing it. After getting 800 or so lines, I
For those of you that don't know, I have a daily webcomic (which you can view here.) Well, it's been such a long time since I've updated the look of the page. I've deleted the "'Jessica' will be daily starting March 30!" message (which isn't true anymore), and added a schedule, which I will update every other month. Right now it's Sundays - "Jessica" (about a 13-year-old girl who lives with her mom), M-Sat - "47 Meatballs", my Far-Side-type comic. I don't know if I'll keep up 47 Meatballs daily,
I hate this stupid transition. I have cable, but it still affects me. I got this antenna which i use. I try to get Eugene stations which are 50 miles away. One day I got KVAL pretty clearly, but the rest of the time it's mainly static or a faint picture. But with digital TV, the days of messing with an antenna to see if I can get these Eugene stations will soon be gone, replaced with the fact that if I try to tune into a digital station from Eugene, I'll get the inevitable "no signal" message fr
Right now I feel proud because I finally got a part of my "secret" game working. After trying to do this a few times for the past month or so, sometimes staying up all hours of the night, I finally got it the way I intended it to work. I don't want to divulge much of it, but you can now fool around with this. Pressing fire where there was no square makes a square and pressing fire where there is a square erases it. Oh, and if you spot any bugs please tell me. I know you can't go down to the bott
There will be 2 dozen copies for sale. You'll get a Trimerous cartridge complete with lovely labels and instruction booklet in a lovely box. It's not ready yet. I will make a for sale thread for the game in the Marketplace forum when I am ready. I don't know when I will be ready. It may be a couple weeks or a couple months. Anyway, I want to thank e5frog for making all this possible. This isn't possible without him.
I actually woke up at a sane time (4 a.m.) It took some effort to st

I've added a special little thing if you get 100 or more lines in 2600tris. It took &*^&*ing FIVE tries to get over 100 to see if it works. It does. If you want to try it, here's a link to the latest version (as of 11/18/09.) I'm getting a little sick of Tetris, though, after playing the NES and Game Boy versions for research/inspiration. But nevertheless, I will press on working on my 2600tris. A couple of people are downloading each version, and I want them to tell me what they think o
Holly is adjusting quite well to our abode. We have to tell her not to jump on the counter, and I had to move a plant, and she gets lonely while I'm asleep so she meows to wake me up and say "Hey! Gimme company!" but other than that, she's doing fine. She has been eating normally, etc. and her health is fine (although she's still fat). Mom is going to call the vet to make an appointment to have her claws trimmed. She seems to follow me around all day, which is fine except when I go to the bathro
I have been working on GoSub for the Virtual Boy again. I'm up to 20 levels now. It took me a very long time to get it right, but I made it so if you press Select when a game is going, it goes back to the title screen. I don't know how many levels the game will end up having, but I plan to continue adding them until I get to 2MB, and I don't know how long that would take. (8MB would take forever!) You can check the game out here. I wish I could do a cart release, but chances are slim. Thankfully
At least I don't think I am, that is, while I'm sitting at my computer programming Tetris 2600. I really don't want to change the name of the game, but I think I might have to. The words and numbers "TETRIS 2600" right now on the title screen are made up in Tetris shapes, but fortunately I have another name just in case: Tetchris (the H is silent.). Kind of like Edtris, but only with Chris instead of Ed. Right now I think I have the lines clearing and blocks dropping down code completed. I spent
Well, Fantasy Zone just came in the mail today, so now i have every Tengen black cart NES release. I'd like to thank the guys whom I bought Tetris and Alien Syndrome from. I can't believe I actually found every single one. Now I have no more goals. j/k. Kirby is coming along nicely, it's up to 8k now. I'll work on it a little more before i put up an update tomorrow morning. I've added a function, too. If you press down when you're not on the ground (i.e. on a platform), you can press down to go
Two nights ago, I had a dream idea. Sometimes I get an idea for something to do while I'm sleeping. Sometimes they're good ideas, sometimes they're bizarre. This fell into the bizarre category. I dreamed I was trying to make a crossword about apples. I was only half-asleep as I was trying to figure out the word placements and stuff. I told my mom about my dream and we spent the next few minutes trying to think of words containing the word "apple". And then, last night I dreamed it again.
...until the next Dream Theater album comes out on June 23. The name is "Black Clouds and Silver Linings" and there are 6 songs on it in total. That might not seem like very much, but keep in mind they are a prog-rock band, so I expect them to be long. After hearing "Systematic Chaos" for the first time, I had to find something else by them and I found "Octavarium". Then I found "Score: The 20th Anniversary Album," a 3-CD set with them with an orchestra and a 41-minute-long song on disc 3 (my lo
