Well, Best Buy came through again. They had Deal or No Deal for GBA. It was only $20. And, I got the complimentary "Would you like the warranty that covers damaged games?" I only had a $20 bill so I said No. I may or may not write a review for it, haven't decided yet. I turned it on to make sure it worked, and a big huge long disclaimer comes on every time you turn it on saying basically "You get no money for playing this. It's for entertainment only." I guess people have gotten stupider since I
Tomorrow is that time of year again, DENTIST TIME!!!! Argh! I don't know why they have to put it so close to my birthday. Well, anyway, since the medical plan I'm on has reduced me to once every 12 months instead of 6, my sister said they'd try to get me to still go every 6 months by putting me on a 'special needs'-type thing. My teeth are fine, thank you. They don't hurt. Sure there may be a cavity or two, but unless I need a root canal or something (knock on wood), I'm not really special needs
Lynx Casino delivers what it promises: A casino on the Lynx. In this game, you walk around a casino playing different casino games. In that respect, it plays like Caesar's Palace, only instead of a cursor, you get a man walking (Maybe it's just me, but he seems to be very upset for some unknown reason.) I like casino video games because it's a chance for me to go to a casino without losing money. I don't really like gambling, except in video games when i don't risk losing lots of money. My favor
...are coming into my house. Well, I haven't seen any IN the part of the house where I live, but I saw a few going into a hole from outside. Good thing the exterminator is coming tomorrow. And I've got all 223 Atari 2600 games moved, from 2005 Minigame Multicart to Zaxxon. And I'm working on Terrance & Phillip again, so check out the thread about it in the Atari 2600 BASIC forum.
I just got Volume 12 yesterday, and watched 2 of the 4 episodes last night. I was going to watch all 4 of them, but I got tired and went to sleep. I have #s 9, 11, and 12. I was a little late getting into this show, I got into it 8 weeks before the Sci-Fi channel stopped airing reruns back in 2004. I taped the last 6 reruns they aired before the stupid morons at the Sci-Fi channel quit showing them. If I had my way, I'd bring them back and never stop airing them - ever. Why not air the best show
While we did get a tiny bit of snow, it melted quickly. RIght now it's 40 degrees and cloudy in Salem and 28 and snowing in Portland, about 50 miles to the north. I bet Portland got about 6 inches while we have nothing. And I highly doubt it will be as cold as 17 in Salem tonight like they're predicting, if it's 40 right now. It'll probably be 33 tonight with rain. There won't be any so-called Arctic air coming into Salem. Bah, phooey.
Right now I'm listening to Procol Harum's "The Worm & The Tree". I've got back into my record-wanting groove (no pun intended). I figure these will probably be the easiest to find. There's this record store on Commercial right after the library called Harvest Records, and the owner is there, a weird-yet-very-polite guy named Brian, every time I go there and buy something, he always says "If you take it home and don't like it, birng it back and I'll give you 100% store credit." During the his
Well, I did it. I just bought a manual for SMB1 off evilBay. When it comes, I'll scan it and put it on my website. Then people will be able to enjoy scans of it without having "THE NES FILES www.nesfiles.com" in bright, big green lettering on it. It just ruins stuff like that. WHO CARES where you got it? My website has no advertising whatsoever on it. I even turned down pokerlistings.com's offer because I didn't want an ad for an online casino on my site, even if it was just text and no pictures
I got back to working on my Odyssey2 Fatso! game again. I think it looks more like Fast Food than ever before. I don't think I'll be adding more food, since I want eating it all and not missing one to be a vital part of the game. However, I might add some words if I have enough space to do so. Stuff like in the original game: "YOU'RE GETTING FATTER!" and stuff like that, that is, if I can figure out how to do so. I'd like the messages to take up the whole screen, and I think it might be easier o
I got inspired. There was a typo in a old cheesy movie catalog I get. It said the movie Millennium was 1 minute long. I said "Well, I wonder if I can make a one minute long movie." So I have decided I will. The movie will be called "The Invisible Thing From Neptune." A big, hideous alien from Neptune is invading the earth. Not only that, it's choking people. It is up to one person on the entire earth to defend us all from the invisible thing from Neptune. It will be a challenge, since all I get
Side Pocket for Game Gear is an example of a game that shouldn't be done on the Game Boy due to the use of color. Of course, that hadn't stopped the makers from releasing a Game Boy version. I wonder what it's like. I couldn't imagine playing a black and white version of a game that is supposed to be in color. Which is why I like my Game Gear. And I don't have to worry about batteries, I can just use my AC adapter. Anyway, the point is to sink a whole bunch of billiard balls on a table in as few
More work on Frank the Fruit Fly yesterday. It took a while because I was trying to update v. 16a when I realized I should have been doing v. 16. Oh well, at least I figured out the problems with 16a and got a new 17 out of it. It took a few attempts to make a left wall at the left bathroom screen. Then I put in a sink. Then I realized the lowest part of the wall was flashing. This was because I simplified the erasing of the text to include the wall parts. So I had to change what each bathroom c
So yesterday I was up until 9:45pm or so trying to get channel 3 to make a buzz sound whenever an item was picked up. I thought I was doing everything right, but it kept making a buzzing sound until the song relooped. As it turned out, my buzzing timer was set to go off wrong. Who would have thought that? Not me. So I got that done. But now what do I do? I am waiting for some guy who offered to make some bgm for the ingame song using just 2 channels. But what do I do in the meantime? I really
Been working on lots of stuff. First I worked on Golf for the channel f. e5frog alerted me to a few problems he was having. I made it so hitting the ball into a tree costs you a penalty stroke. I have also been working on Frank the Fruit Fly, getting the dragonfly to appear in the game.
Pokemon Mini sprites can be a maximum size of 16x16 pixels. Since the two dragonfly sprites when put together were 32x17, I had to do more code to make sure it wouldn't bounce up and down. I had to pu
I finally got the sound back on. I was using Pinnacle Studio 19 a few months ago when all of a sudden, the sound got muted for no reason. Yesterday, I decided I might as well sign up to the stupid Pinnacle forum to see if I could get any answers. The one I got didn't make much sense, but it did lead me to something called B & O Play. One of the options, the one for allowing sound from more than one program running at a time, had been turned off, but not by me. Because I didn't know it existe
Remember that old game in Mario Paint where you moved the mouse around and clicked it to swat flies? Well, I've been working on a Game Boy version, for fly-swatting action on the go (or in the bathroom while pooping a bunch.)
What made me stop? I don't know. What made me continue? Yesterday's blog entry. I found this uncompleted game being in there and I said to myself "I really should finish this. I hardly ever finish anything."
Work I have done this morning includes getting two
Do you know how hard it is to kill one of those stupid things? I didn't have any idea it was in the house, I just saw it for less than five seconds and then stepped on it. Bam. It died. Yay me! I hate it when huge flying insects get in the house. I had to kill a bee in the house this summer. A bee! And they can sting you! Luckily, it was behind the window curtain and I squished it without getting stung. Hopefully it will get to be below freezing soon so all the stupid insects can die and not ge
This Saturday I'm going to Best Buy to see if Spider-Man 3 for GBA is going to be there (it's supposed to come out tomorrow). What I'm more interested in is if M&Ms: Break 'Em is going to be there (if it came out, it would have come out Monday.) And apparently, I missed Petz Vet as a 2007 GBA release. Also, I have to get my hair cut Saturday, which I really hate because it's boring and I hate getting my hair wet. And apparently nobody else has a Game Gear game list to share. And apparently G
Finally discovered. I was going through some tapes, and thought that I had reached the end of what we've recorded (in 1988). I let the tape go for a few seconds, and sure enough, something popped up: The credits to a miniseries called "Kennedy" and most of the 11 o'clock news from that day. That day happened to be November 21, 1983, apparently the 20th anniversary of the JFK assassination. West Germany was still a country, KUPL played easy listening instead of country, and Darryl Strawberry was
I've updated the Alien Greed official website. All i did was add a banner and change the release date of AG3 to Q2 2009. I PM'ed neo about how progress on GoSub 2 and Alien Greed 3 were going but he hasn't answered me yet. Both games have been finished for quite some time now. Also, i PM'ed Al about Jack and the Beanstalk, but he hasn't answered me yet. Al hasn't seemed to be around much here for a while. Perhaps he's getting carts ready for the "holiday" sale? I don't know, I've been bored and
Right now I am one cart shy of filling up my bookshelf of Atari 2600 games. That's why I ordered London Blitz, mainly so I can fill up the bookshelf. After I get that filled up, I don't know where I'll keep them. My ultimate goal is 300 different titles. After I get London Blitz which will (hopefully) come early next week, I will have 289. And please check out my want list by clicking the link in my signature, and please PM me or e-mail me (i've opened up my e-mail address in my profile.) if you
After 8 months of off and on work, I am proud to announce that I am ready to release version 1.0 of GoSub for Virtual Boy. You can download the ROM for use on an emulator here. So what is my next Virtual Boy game? I'm not sure. I'd like to do something in the vein of Pitfall!, where a guy moves from screen to screen avoiding enemies and getting treasures, but I'm not sure whether I have the programming skills to make that or not. Well, anyway, enjoy!
This game isn't very good. First off, I don't know how to play skateboarding games. That puts this game at a disadvantage before I even put it in the Game Boy Micro. Once I did, I tried the practice thing (in this game called Freeskate). The only thing I could do is make the guy jump by pressing A or make him twirl and jump at the same time by pressing either R or L shoulder buttons. The way you move around in the park is reminiscent of Skateboardin' for the 2600, which is kind of stupid because
Tetris Axis was a "bonus" review, mainly because I wanted it so much. I will still be having a 3DS review every Monday. Just got back from the store with another brand-new 3DS game to put up a review for on Monday. I don't want to tell what game it is yet, but I will say it's kind of a fitting game to be reviewing on Halloween. I also got my book I ordered off eBay (it's about damn time, too! I think I ordered it a week ago.) So that's what I've been up to today so far. I will be celebrating my
Hello. Today I got three GBC games. They are GEX 3 Deep Pocket Gecko, Croc 2, and Nicktoons Racing. I spent $18.85 on the trio. Most of their Game Boy Color games I saw are $6.95. They didn't have very many games I wanted, though. None of the more popular titles like Zelda or anything (not that I would buy Zelda). So the three I got were considered the cream of the crap by me. (Yes, I meant crap, not crop.) So that raises my GBC game collection to 9 titles. I'm looking forward to the flea market
