Halloween food

I ate too much. And I still have to eat candy. The problem was, I went to the fish house and ate too much. I know I shouldn't have. I ate so much, and I feel guilty. And tomorrow is my birthday party, and I'm going to have pizza and cake! And then Monday is my actual birthday and then Tuesday I have to go to the dentist! I didn't get my package, so I'm hoping that I'll get a nice birthday "present" in the mail on Monday (I put present in quotation marks because I bought it myself.) So I'm in the

Back to the 2600

I was looking at my VCS. Then it hit me. It started saying "Play me. And buy more games for me. You love that Virtual Boy more than you do me." So I plugged the VCS in and played some games: Midnight Magic, Jr. Pac-Man, Juno First, Video Pinball. Right now I'm listening to the theme from BMX Airmaster emanate through my TV's speakers. Last time I checked, I was stalled at 294 VCS games. So I made a goal: Get 300 by the end of the year. So I bought Mr. Do, so once that comes, I'll only need 5 to

Pitfall 2 as played by an orchestra

Back a long time ago, I sequenced the theme to Pitfall 2 as played by an orchestra. It sucked pretty bad. A few hours ago, it hit me: Why not try again? So I did, and the result is here. I think this is a lot better compared to the one I had on the site. I also uploaded it to The Video Game Music Archive just in case they felt like adding something by me (it's been a long time since they did. I also uploaded a MIDI I did recently of Wario Land 3's Fat Wario music). Oh, and by the way, the Blazer

Go Blazers!

Boy am I excited. Only 24 more hours to go until the NBA regular season starts. The Blazers went 4-4 in the preseason while trying to find a perfect starting lineup. Now that they have found one (it's still uncertain, with Oden vs. Pyrzbilla), I think they're going to do better than I expected, beating Phoenix by 20 on the road in the last game of the preseason. I just wish we could have a better opponent tomorrow night, it's the dreaded Houston Rockets, who ended our playoff chances in the firs

15x15 crosswords with themes I made

I started doing this because I was bored, but I've made like 4 of these crosswords, and with grandma dead they don't have anyone to do them. I really enjoy making these, so whether you do them or not, I plan to keep on making them. I was going to try and submit them to a magazine but haven't heard anything back on how to for about a week, so I give up and will put them on the web for you lucky people. You can find them here. They're in .pdf format, so you'd need Acrobat Reader to open and print

Game Boy Color: The Ultimate Site

Well, it isn't the ultimate site quite yet. What is up now is 5 reviews and some NP issue scans: most notably, the 6-page launch article in November 1998's issue. I'll look through more old NP issues to see if I can find anything of note about the GBC. I also have two Playback articles: one on Metal Gear Solid and one on Shantae, as well as NP's top picks of the 20 best GB/GBC titles in their 20th anniversary issue. I'll be adding way more to this site as time goes on, probably the most updates

Game Boy Color

I found my Game Boy Color. It was hiding from me. I knew where the games for it were. I only have 5 games for it. They are DKC, Wario Land 3, Dr. Evil: Welcome To My Underground Lair, Mario Golf and Super Mario Bros. DX. I would really like to have Shantae, after reading the article about the DS remake in this month's NP. I would like to have a DSi and be able to download games, too, but if I had a DSi, I probably wouldn't be able to figure out how to get it online. I don't know how to get my Wi

Poor Raymond Young...

Well, today is new crossword puzzle magazine day. My favorite crossword puzzle magazine comes out 6 times a year, so it's a pretty significant day. While skimming through the crosswords, though, one name is noticably absent: Raymond Young. The crossword magazine tells who makes each one, and I love the way he makes them, but I fear he has no job with the magazine any more because his crosswords are too hard and weird-looking. I usually get a few clues to his, but I just love the way his look. An

Virtual Boy!

I bought 3D Tetris for Virtual Boy yesterday. It will be a while until it comes, so I am waiting for it anxiously. Until then, I am busy working on GoSub for the Virtual Boy. It wasn't fun sitting there for three hours trying to make the collision detection work right, but once it did, boy was I happy. And so I added level 25. I am having a hard time trying to decide whether to keep the select screen option in (right now, if you press "Select" at the title screen ("W" in the Reality Boy emulator

Fun is fun

I got a notice from the people who make Mr. Roger's Neighborhood. It seems like they weren't too happy with me putting the final episode on my YouTube site, so YouTube disabled it. And since they disabled it, what would be the point of me having it there, so I deleted them. It was in 4 parts and was by far the most popular videos on the site. Part 4 got over 13,000 views. But that didn't let me damper my spirits (although I am boycotting that stupid show. I don't care how nice Mr. Rogers seemed,

A Treatise on Cosmic Fire

Well, that CD came in the mail today. As it turns out, the song was split into four different tracks. They had done the same thing to other long songs released on CD, and am wondering why. Is it because the record labels are afraid to have one long track? Or are they just plain stupid. If they're stupid, they're even too stupid to SAY that said song is more than one track long. You'd think it'd be information people would like to know. Now this isn't the seller's fault, and I'm not blaming him,

One-letter song titles

I'm making a list of one "letter" song titles. It should really be one character song titles, but the computer term of a "character" is kind of confusing. Right now I'm listening to Prince's "7". I don't have most of these, but there's also Sunny Day Real Estate's "8" (i have), Arrested Development's "U" (i have thanks to my sister.) The ones I don't have include Meshuggah's "I", Tomas Bodin's "I" "A" and "M", Paula Abdul's "U" (written by Prince). I bet there's a whole bunch of songs called "U"

DS games I want: October 2009

Here is where things stand on DS games I want that haven't been released. I haven't been buying very many for my collection recently. Here's what I'm looking forward to:Space Invaders Extreme 2 (10/22)Bookworm Adventures (12/1)Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks (12/7)Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing (Q1 2010)Clayfighter (Q2 2010)And for the first time ever, there is a game I'm anxiously awaiting for the Wii: New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Hopefully there will be no hidden levels like in the DS version

TV: 60 years ago

I was watching my I Love Lucy thing I bought yesterday and today. So far, three episodes have been watched: the unaired pilot, the one where Lucy thinks Ricky is trying to murder her, and the Vitameatavegamin one. I was watching and it began to strike me: TV sure has changed in the last 60 years. We've gone from black and white to color and now ("thanks" to the US Government) to digital, there were only 4 stations back then (if you count DuMont), now there are hundreds of them. You could actuall

Do I Love Lucy?

Went to Best Buy and saw the first season of I Love Lucy for $25. This inspired me to start collecting '50s TV shows on DVD. I also saw The Honeymooners, but it didn't have a price on it so I didn't get it. But the Lucy thing IMO is a deal because when was the last time you saw 7 DVDs for $25? And especially of a TV show as popular as I Love Lucy? Well, I'll watch some tonight, especially of the unaired pilot episode. Fortunately, this had the Vitameatavegamin episode on there "Are you unpoopula

Going postal

Well, it's been the third consecutive day with no mail whatsoever. Mom called to see why we haven't been getting any. So we now have a "case number" with the post office. And I had just bought a package from eBay that should have come by now and it's not the seller's fault. How I explain this to him is way beyond me. Maybe the stupid post office should not change things and have them kept the way they were before instead of trying to "improve" service.UPDATE: The mail finally did come (at about

No mail

I'm angry. This is the second day in a row we didn't get any mail. Not one piece of junk mail. I would be happy to see junk mail, but it didn't come yesterday, and Tuesday is usually junk mail day. Then there was the time when the mail came at 8pm. So, with two days in a row with no mail whatsoever, I guess I'll have Mom call the post office and see what the deal is. Did the mailman get so tired of giving me packages that he just decided to quit delivering mail to us all together, or is there so

GoSub for Virtual Boy again

I have been working on GoSub for the Virtual Boy again. I'm up to 20 levels now. It took me a very long time to get it right, but I made it so if you press Select when a game is going, it goes back to the title screen. I don't know how many levels the game will end up having, but I plan to continue adding them until I get to 2MB, and I don't know how long that would take. (8MB would take forever!) You can check the game out here. I wish I could do a cart release, but chances are slim. Thankfully

Slowly but surely

My interest in Atari is always steady, but my interest in the Virtual Boy comes and goes. I just happened to glance at it, and thought to myself, I'd like a new game for it. So I went on eBay, typed in "Virtual Boy" and got Nester's Funky Bowling with manual for under $30, which I think is a neat deal, and the guy has a 100% feedback rating on eBay, so I'm excited again and hope it will be coming this weekend or next Monday. I don't really care about the manual, I just wanted the game, but I gue

A good day for coins

Just got back from a coin store, where I got Ceylon, China, Great Britain, Prince Edward Island, and Romania. Now I have 86. Going to another coin store tomorrow, hopefully I'll have a good day there, too. I also stopped at the game store and got ToeJam and Earl: Panic on Funkatron and Vectorman 2. I got home and Juno First was in the mail for me. I played it a little and loved it. Normally I don't like Space Invaders style games, but this one is good. I accidentally pressed up and lo and behold

Terrance & Phillip 2

The full title for this game is "Terrance & Phillip: Not Without My Anus", but I bet most people will call this Terrance & Phillip 2, or, to make it even shorter, T&P2. And I've begun work on it. There's a thread about this game in the batari Basic forum, where you can download the very first binary. Level 1 is swimming, a type of level I didn't get to do in the first game because I couldn't figure out how. Only problem is: The Terrance swimming sprite looks horrible. Maybe you can d

Crazy Coin Collectors

I stayed up until 3am watching the various coin shows on Shop NBC and QVC (I would only recommend doing this if you have no life). Which makes me wonder: Why do coin collectors stay up until all hours of the night ordering bizarre expensive things from the TV shopping channels? Don't these people have jobs? If not, then they could stay up until 4am watching bizarre things, but then where does their money to buy these things come from? Two set of 50 state quarters (Denver and Philadelphia mint) p

Back to one of my various collections

I collect a lot of different things. Lynx games. Atari 2600 games. DS games. SpongeBob related things. LPs. You should see my room. It's a mess. Anyway, another thing I collect is coins from different countries. I really don't know how it got started it's been so long. I'm guessing that I was at the coin store one day and saw these coins from different countries across the world. Well, I have 76 so far. Some are from countries that aren't even countries any more (Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia) I gu

Life is too hard

I can't do it any more.First, I had to go on OfficeMax and register this stupid computer. It took half an hour. Now the stupid dog's eye is bleeding and he can't walk very good. And if it wasn't for the stupid dog, there would probably be something else to make me angry. I mean I love the dog, but the fact of the matter is, he's not doing so good, and I want him to be put to sleep but mom refuses. He's only 11 but he acts as though he's 22. I am so sick and tired of picking him up every day and

My favorite record

I got back interested in listening to my small but growing vinyl collection. My favorite record is Vanilla Fudge's "Near the Beginning", because side 2 is just one 23-minute-long rock jam. I am particularly interested in songs that take up more than one side of an album, like Emerson, Lake and Palmer's "Karn Evil 9", or the Allman Brothers Band's "Mountain Jam." I am very much looking for Todd Rundgren's "A Treatise on Cosmic Fire" because it's 35 minutes long and on a single side. I think the a
