Going Over Niagra Falls In A Cardboard Box

That's not going to fit on a Batari Basic-made title screen, but that's the name of this little thing. I haven't added collision penalties yet, but I have added rocks to avoid. They randomly come. What do you think? (besides "Get back to work on GoSub!")

Snowflake Studios

You may have heard me talk about my own comics page, but every Thursday and Saturday I contribute comix to this website called Snowflake Studios. It's kind of a Far Side comic called the non sequitur title "47 Meatballs," 47 being my favorite number, and I like meatballs on spaghetti. Looking back, I think I should have called it "47 Slices of Bacon" because I like bacon more than meatballs. "47 Hamburgers" would be the best title, but changing the title now would be absurd, seeing as how it's b

Let sleeping birds lie.

It's kind of beautiful around my mobile home park. I went out and took some pictures around the area. I don't know what all the birds were doing asleep at a quarter 'til 2 in the afternoon. Here for your enjoyment are a sleeping duck and a sleeping goose.

Again with the DS games

I got another one today: Gunpey DS. It's a puzzle game in which you make 5 line segments go from one side of the screen to the other basically horizontally, with new pieces coming from the bottom. It's kinda cool, and it has a sequencing program, too, for some reason. I really need to work on GoSub tonight, as the octopus problem has been fixed by Mike (thanx, Mike). Plus in the thread, I'd said I'd work on it, so I guess I'd better get my butt in gear.

One of those games

I went to EB Games and got a brand-new Major League Baseball 2K7 for DS. It's another game I just like to collect just for the heck of it. Sure, there are some games for the DS I actually play (like Mario Kart DS,) but others (such as Final Fantasy III) I collect just for the joy of collecting. I think I might have to go to Best Buy again to see if I can find Quickspot, a new DS game that looks fairly interesting. MLB 2K7 was only $20 new, so if you like baseball, I think it's the only baseball

Ghost Rider

After an almost two-month-hiatus, I walk into Best Buy sensing nothing but coming out with Trioncube and Ghost Rider for GBA. So, the GBA 2007 blog is back! This game is rated T for Teen.   Ghost Rider is a guy who has a skeleton head that’s on fire. As if that wasn’t scary enough, he’s trapped in Hell. This basically takes on the form of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, (the Arcade game), with a little Roadblaster thrown in, with a level of Ghost Rider on his bike killing baddies that way.

Finally!

I found Trioncube at Best Buy this morning. I thought for a minute they didn't make it and I dreamt the whole game up, but I didn't. It looks from the screenshots that you get 3x3 cubes of the same color to make them disappear, but it's easier than that, you just get 3x3 cubes of any color, so it turns out it was easier than I anticipated. I got a little bored after playing the 'endless' mode for half-an-hour (really is endless). And I've been pronouncing it wrong all this time, I've been pronou

Top o' the Evening!

Well, here it is, St. Patricks Day, and I don't have any green on. And you can't pinch me so neener. I tried to find my green shirt, but with no success. And it's a hot St. Patty's Day here, right now it's a quarter after 3 and 66 degrees. And I'm in Oregon. Yeah, I know. There's been a real "heat wave" here recently, and I feel sorry for the people up in New England stuck with all that snow. I got a couple of NES games for trade in future deals, (Super Pitfall, Caesar's Palace, California Games

The Bored Game

I think I may have found my next project after GoSub. It's a board game, tentatively called "The Bored Game." See, because you play it when you're bored. Right now, this is pretty low on the priority scale, but will pick up once GoSub is finished, like I said in yesterday's blog, will be in the summer (I hope.) Right now it's very buggy (like it thinks 5+3 is 9), but this is just after the second day and a few hours coding this thing. To roll, the dice, all the player has to do is press fire, an

Something that will interest you (I hope)

The release date of GoSub. Are you ready? It's.......Summer 2007. By then, I should have all the bugs worked out, all the levels completed, and the game should be shiny new and in the AtariAge store. So, Albert, if you're reading this and are working on the 'in development' page, please add this. I can't say when in Summer 2007 just quite yet, because even I don't know. I just set a goal that I'm hoping is realistic.

DS Rarity list updated

I've updated the DS Rarity list again. Put a few more 5s on: Pac N Roll, Sudoku Mania and Trioncube. Here are the places I've looked for Trioncube and never found it: Toys 'R Us, Wal-Mart, K-Mart, GameStop, Electronics Botique, Sam Goody. And if you can't find a game there, well, geez. I bought some of what I think are rare games at K-Mart and Sam Goody (I got Dig Dug DS at Sam Goody and Lionel Trains at K-Mart, two games I've never seen anywhere else), but no Trioncube. Still lookin'...

TV Week

On July 2, 2006, something happened to my local paper's TV listings. They got bigger. A lot bigger. And the cover changed. And, they got a lot better. So impressed with the new design, I decided to keep every single one since. pescoman_v99.zip Now it's week #37 of the new TV Week, and on the cover this week is "Andy Barker, P.I." on NBC. What's even more interesting is the one program that didn't get to be on the cover: Super Bowl XLI. Well, anyway, if you care (and you probably don't), you ca

Help!

I need someone that knows how to program better than I do to help me with the programming in GoSub. For more information, check out the Gosub topic in the homebrew forum, but it basically has to deal with blacking out the colors in the last level (level 19.) In order for this last level to work, I need the sub to change colors from black to red for the whole game. So say bye bye to Mr. Black sub (I think it's red on the NeoTokeo label anyway )

E.T. 2

I'm beginning to make this just for the heckuvit. Why make a sequel to E.T.? Because there's a sequel to Pac-Man! I don't know. I'm just in a weird mood today, I guess. See ya tomorrow!

GoSub 500

But first, guess what they had for the Atari 2600 at Value Village? A joystick. That's it. No games, no other accesories, no consoles, just a joystick that wasn't there the last time, which leads me to believe that someone donated a joystick and that's it. Why? Well, anyway, I also had a dream a few nights ago that I was programming E.T. 2 using Batari BASIC, so maybe that's a project when GoSub is done?   And now, to the topic at hand: GoSub 500. It's a mini-game like Indy 500 only it's subma

Found a few!

I found a few DS titles I was looking for way too long at Toys R Us: Pac N Roll and Sudoku Mania. Both were around $20, so that was good. I still haven't found Trioncube, a new DS game that looks interesting. In other news, just thought I'd tell the world I have every DS game rated 9.0 or above by Nintendo Power. 5 have been rated 9.5 and none have gotten a perfect 10 (maybe Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass will be the first.) The 5 that got a 9.5 are Metroid Prime Pinball, New Super Mario Bro

My morning

I spent most of it asleep. I was up until 12:30 working on GoSub's demo screen, and then I went to sleep. I woke up at about 6:30 (I woke myself up kicking the wall for some reason), and then at 8:30, I decided to lay down. Big mistake, as I fell right back asleep and didn't get up until 1pm. Well, there goes my big plan of going downtown this morning. I could still catch the 2:30 bus, but I'd get home at 4:30, which is the time my mom got home. At least she'd say she'd take me to Wal-Mart when

Bad Ads

Do you know that credit card commercial with the song "I'm free, to do what I want, any ol' time"? I am so sick of that song, I could scream. It's like the Cadillac commercials where they used the same song in every commercial for 3 years. And no, I'm not exaggerating. THREE YEARS. And, I don't know if this made it nationally or not, but here in Oregon, there's an ad with a colicky baby. And during its crying, it coughs a lot, and it's a message about not smoking when having kids. Luckily, we do

DS Rarity List

Yeah, I know, there's new games for the DS still coming out, but I'm trying to make a rarity list anyway. If you have any comments on games that should have a different rating, please tell me. Here are the games rated 5 so far (almost impossible to get): Break 'Em All, Bust-A-Move, Dig Dug DS, Elf Bowling, Golden Nugget Casino, Lionel Trains, Whac-A-Mole, and Zoo Keeper. I should add Sudoku Mania to the 5 list, but I haven't yet. Sudoku Gridmaster is relatively easy to get, but it's Mania I want

Top ten: february 2007

#1 - Elk Attack #2 - Midnight Magic #3 - Video Pinball #4 - Trick Shot #5 - Ixion #6 - River Raid #7 - Word Zapper #8 - Carnival #9 - Frogs & Flies #10 - Moon Patrol I've been slacking off on the top 10 2600 lists, I know. Expect March's at the end of March, etc. It's been a warm streak here in Sunny Salem. Yesterday's high was 66 and right now it's around the same. I feel sorry for those stuck in places like Minnesota, Chicago, and New England. Of course, they're probably getting

128 and counting

Hey, gang, I just got River Raid, Spider Fighter, Dragonfire, Commando Raid and Space Attack in the mail today, and do you know what that means? It means I now have 128 Atari 2600 games. And I'm expecting more soon, too. But there's still a few more games to go until I get every rarity 2 game, including the elusive 3D Tic-Tac-Toe, Backgammon, and Sneak N Peek. See the wanted forum for my updated list of stuff I want. 'Till next time.

R.I.P. My Game Gear

I had just got some new games for it, too. I had just got Ristar out and put in another game when the stupid thing wouldn't work. I jiggled the cord to the wall, even plugged it out and back in again, and still nothing. So I put an ad in the Wanted forums for a new one. Hopefully someone will answer my ad and I can have a new Game Gear, hopefully one that works better than the old one did. If you're not a frequent reader of my blog, the thing didn't work on batteries alone (it had been "sick" wh

The Smallest Digital Camera

Note that I am not duped easily. I purchased this thing thinking "this is a complete total rip-off." This thing being a digital camera keychain, billing itself "The Smallest Digital Camera." I don't know why they didn't attach "In the World" at the end of that. Well, after figuring out how to take pictures with the thing, I discovered that its best to do it outside, because the ones that I took inside were total crap because you couldn't see anything even though the lights are on. So, here's a f

Reproductions

I wanted Ixion and Elk Attack onto actual 2600 carts. One problem with this was that there were no labels made for these unreleased games (well, there might have been one for Elk Attack, but I wanted the challenge of designing my own labels.) And here they are. The side labels are the "Ixion" and "Elk Attack" "logos" taken from screenshots of the title screens of each game. Me and 8bitclassics thought they turned out pretty darn good. Whaddya think?
