Now she's worried that the medicine she's taking is only a short-term fix and won't really help her any for very long. I had to sleep all day and night. I went to sleep at 11am and was surprised to wake up at 4am. I thought it was 4pm, but no. Now she refuses to take the medicine and she went back to being helpless again. What am I supposed to do now? She told me she has a doctor's appointment on August 31. So she'll have to try to take Boost for the next 10 days. Lots of things can happen whe
While I've been so focused on my new Wii-U, I've forgotten about the other modern gaming system I have: the 3DS. (My X-box 360 doesn't count because I never play it. I once tried to sell it to the game trading store, but it was too old or something. It works just fine.) Anyway, I just got back from a trip to Wal-Mart, and, along with a yummy Subway sandwich (they have a Subway restaurant inside the Wal-Mart), I got Rayman Origins for the 3DS. Another one of those games where nobody knows the rig
...even Giuseppe. So even though his final enemy is Fido (who is holding Princess Pomegranate hostage), I added another one. It suspiciously looks like a goomba. I need a different name for it, though. If you hop on it, it dies, but if you run into it, it "kills" you. Right now, though, death doesn't take Giuseppe very far because this build is just like the other one except for the one added enemy. And I spent like three hours or so working on this game today just to make the enemy work. I thin
Sometimes I feel like Bob, trapped inside a room spitting out toxic waffles you have to dodge endlessly (I doubt I'm ever going to die). Well, anyway, despite Mom being ill, I've continued work on this game because i want it done. And some very nice people have been helping me as well, so I hope they continue to do so, since I don't know very much about the Intellivision hardware. Right now we're designing various machines. Right now there's only two machines in the game. Right now the game is
In a previous blog entry I described how both M$Paint and Adobe Photoshop both have the somewhat hidden power to make icons, the little pictures that show up before the web URL. (For example, AtariAge's is a blue circle with two chevrons). Well, I learned today that if you put an icon in a website, its name can be no longer than 8 characters long. I spent a long time trying to put an icon named "rowsgardenicon.ico" in my Rows Garden page I just created. I kept getting angry. Then I had the brigh
Here I was anxiously awaiting the first Oregon Ducks game. My hopes of a victory were soon dashed as LSU defeated them. Now the whole season is over, and there's no point in watching any more Ducks games because they don't have a shot in hell of making the national title championship. What a bunch of stupid morons. Oh well, there's always next year...
Here in Salem, we have two minor league teams. The first, the Salem Stampede, is a minor league basketball team, who in their first few years here, have been sub-par. The second, the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes (the Keizer part is because the stadium is in Keizer), is a minor league baseball team who won the NWL title last year. And with all the talk about baseball being back because of it being spring, I checked the Volcanoes website to see when the season started. Mid-June! Guess it's a few more mo
For the first time in a long time, I had to open a case against someone. Apparently you can't contact the seller without opening a case. I didn't want to, I just wanted to ask where my game was. I've been looking for the USPS site for days at the search number, and it was last updated Feb 7. So I'm guessing the post office lost it or he hasn't mailed it out yet. eBay is so stupid, though. All I did was want to contact the seller, but nooo I had to open some sort of case against him in order to d
I added a cat to get past in the game. It took a really long time to code. I tried last night and I just gave up. I tried this morning again and I had to give up again. I finally tried to do a simpler version of what I was going to do. And just like that, the original version of the cat screen was completed. I had a bad case of insomnia last night. I guess those melatonin things quit working. I was up until 3am coding this thing. It wanted to ignore lines of code and do what it wanted to do. Wha
Well, this one had been listed as Q4 2013, but it finally got a new release date. Doodle Jump Journey will be released...this Tuesday. Apparently the company that makes it wanted it to be a secret or something. If the game had gone gold, why not pick a release date and then TELL everyone about it? Anyway, I guess I'll have to go back to Toys R Us next weekend to see if I can find that as well as Lego Marvel Superheroes. Toys R Us seems to be the only place to get new DS games any more. Of course
Here it is, Christmas morning at 12:20am. Naturally, Mom wanted me to go to sleep at 10 or so. I tried but I just couldn't do it. So I decided to get up (laying on the bed doing nothing is quite boring!) and write this blog entry. I also didn't forget the Odyssey 2 game, so I uploaded info, pics, and a binary for it. The game is called "Aaron the Aant" and you can find it here: http://www.atari2600land.com/aaron/
This is my Christmas present to you. I doubt this will be the final version, and I
Made it so that when you press the reset switch, it goes back to the title screen. I put the current score you had in the title screen because frankly there wasn't room to do anything else. I really want this game to be 2k, as you can see with my fiddling with the default.inc file to get rid of some files I didn't need. I was right in that you were to expect new files yesterday, but unless there's a bug, I think this is all I can do with the game! The file is available in the page I linked to in
So I was working on my Game Gear game again today. I designed some new numbers for the score. But something was wrong with the 9 digit. It wasn't put in the game. So I wondered why. I went back to the bmp2tile messages to see if anything had gone wrong. It only read numbers 0-8. 9 was on the end and for some reason didn't get read at all. So I moved it one pixel to the left and tried again. Success. I don't know why that made a difference though. I used the Century Gothic font to make these nu
So I have been working on Insecticide again, even though nobody really seems to notice or care. I added in the final special move, the one for Slaying Mantis. Now comes the real fun part. Wondering what to do next. Should I work on AI? If so, I'd need help on it. Something else? If so, what? I also did some "beautification" modifications, trying to make the intro screen look better. I think I've succeeded in that. (only took a couple of hours...) When I set out to the special moves programming,
So apparently it's impossible what I want to have happen in my game. Because if it was, it would have happened by now. Because I tried just about every single thing. I've tried just about every sequence. In both files. And what I want to have happen won't. So I'm close to just giving up. Now I know why I gave up the first time. It's just too freaking hard. And I'm also giving up programming in general. Because all it does is just makes me angry and suicidal. Because I can't do it very well. And
Well, I think I got all the bugs worked out on this game so far, but I don't know if I want to finish this game or not. It's not a matter of whether I want to, it's a matter of can I? Right now the game is about 800 bytes. A couple more hundred bytes and I'll have to use bankswitching. But that's good I suppose since I got all the routines for jumping and falling and running into an enemy good. Now all I have to do is work out some more routines (like smashing a ? block). I don't think I want to
So I thought that it was pretty dull, just being a lake and grass, so after fooling around with the kernel options, I managed to add a couple trees. This took me a good few hours just experimenting and seeing what I could come up with. I put this on my harmony cart and it looks good. Still haven't added the radar yet. The tree trunk is player 0, so if the guy (player 1) touches it, it goes under the tree trunk, so I made it so that couldn't happen. Thoughts and suggestions are appreciated. I may
So I read the Wikipedia entry on DVD and I still have a few questions. I've been making an animated cartoon series. I have a DVD set of an old cartoon that used to be on Saturday mornings. It has each season on DVD. Each season is 13 half-hour long episodes. Not only that, it has bonus content on it. I did the math. (13 x .4, for 20 minutes) That's 5.2 hours. Add in the bonus content and it's about 6 hours on each disc. Reading the article, it says that the commercial DVDs are DVD-ROMs. So wha
So I finally got around to adding scans of a Didj game to the website. I think I have about half the manuals scanned. And since I have all of them, I can do any one I want next. Any requests (lol.) The one I just finally got around to adding was Superchicks. The game's box was just sitting on top of the computer in the den for some reason. I think it's my extra copy. I think I'll save it in case there's any Didj homebrew games. All the handheld consoles I want to have homebrew games aren't. So m
Worked on Golf a whole bunch yesterday. I added a special putting meter so when you get close to the hole the score switches from red to blue to let you know you're putting. I can adjust how far away the ball is to the hole when it switches to putting mode. I don't know if it's my keyboard or the programming but pressing fire seems to not work sometimes, I have to press it a second time and try again after pressing the left CTRL button (I'm using MESS) and it not do anything. I discovered a ne
Well, i didn't think i would be able to sleep because of my stomach cramps and frequent diarrhea, but I did manage to go to sleep. When I woke up, I was still sick, although my stomach doesn't hurt any more. I still have diarrhea, and whenever i eat something, i'll barf it back up again. i haven't been taking my pills i'm supposed to because i figure why waste them? (I took them Sunday night, but probably barfed them back up on Monday morning, when my illness started.) And, with all of this goin
My computer used to be able to copy DVDs fine with Nero. Now whenever I try to it gets like 12% done and then says the disc is unreadable. I tried Handbrake to rip the video but it freezes at 25%. I used the same E drive to make another copy of Snowman's Land, plus I also used it to watch the DVD that it allegedly won't copy. Plus, my mom is back to being on the couch and sleeping a lot. Which is weird because she drove herself to a counselor appointment this morning. The whole reason my compu
So a whole bunch of games arrived in the mail today. First off, my 9 Game Boy games from that guy who put my game onto a cartridge who lives overseas came. I'll be keeping one, so eight of these will be on sale soon. And also, last night, I designed the final hole in Channel F Golf. It took a while since the idea wasn't too keen on cooperating with me, but I got it to work somehow. It was ten Game Boy games, but I made the mistake of showing mom one of them and she looked at it and commented o
Well, I finally went through my huge wad of wires. I'm not kidding when I say "huge" and "wad". It took the better of half an hour, sorting out which system is attached to what wire and what not. But finally I got almost the whole thing untangled. And I've decided to sell some systems at my sister's garage sale. What's on schedule to leave my abode:
Sega Saturn, Atari Jaguar, Magnavox Odyssey2.
I don't really have anything against these three, but I need to downsize because I have too much stu
I just played one of my DS games in my collection for the first time today. I've also played a Bust-A-Move game for the first time today. I just played Bust-A-Move DS, and am disappointed that there is no high-score save. I have a hard time aiming the balls, so sometimes they don't go where I want them to. I think my longest game was 10 minutes or so on Endless. And, since there is no high-score saving, I don't know what score I got on my best game. I always thought "Gee, I wonder what Bust-A-Mo
