47 in the news

Hey gang. I'm convinced Mitt Romney likes the number 47. In searching for 47 in the news, most of the Presidential polls have Romney at 47%, with Obama at 43-44%, though in Fla. that's a bad thing for Romney, as Obama has 48%. I guess that just goes to show you how equal the US political parties are split up. Now I don't want to go into politics here, so I'll refrain from talking any more about this. Moving on, it seems like No. 47 was mysterious in Oklahoma. There was a college football player

47 in abundance

Here are some recent 47 sightings. - The Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center will be 47 feet wide this year. - I was listening to the audio commentary on the last episode of season 1 of "Your Pretty Face Is Going To Hell," and some guy said he had his air conditioning on to 47 degrees. - The bill at my local shopping trip to Trader Joe's (a local grocery chain) was $47 - In last Sunday's "Dennis the Menace" comic strip, Dennis had $2.47. And not only that, on this Sunday, there will be 47 more

47 hits me again!

I've been seeing the number 47 a lot more lately. A few sightings: - I was flipping through the channels when I saw this religious channel and some guy was talking about Psalm 47. - The incumbent Polish president lost the Poland election. He only got 47% of the vote. - The Seattle Zoo's oldest gorilla, named Nina, died at age 47. - My local Wal-Mart has been selling Hallmark cards for 47 cents.   Also, all 47 republican senators are writing letters to various causes, like one to the Queen

47 coming up a lot again.

So I just posted in the GoSub 2 thread over @ the videopac.nl forums. Right now I just made my 47th post on it. Was reading the newspaper, and if Oregon approves gay marriage, someone estimated that it could bring in $47 million to the state's economy. And an old Headlines on Jay Leno segment, a typo made a young-looking couple married for 47 years. It's the attack of the 47s! Someone help me!

46% done

I am about half-way done with making Snowman's Land for the ActionMax. This one will be 13 minutes long. I got in the mood to do it (you have to be in the mood to fight with a computer). So I did not one minute, but TWO minutes' worth of putting enemies in. So now I have 6 minutes' worth total of it. The program crashed a couple times but luckily saved my progress so I went back in it and did it until I got to the 6 minute point. I'm still shooting for a May release (no pun intended). By the way

43 Lynx games

That's my total. I just got Jimmy Connors Tennis and Basketbrawl in the mail yesterday. In the tennis game, the ball is like 3 pixels by 3 pixels, and with the tennis racket not much bigger than that, it's VERY hard to hit the ball, let alone serve it. One of the rare times when Realsports Tennis and Activision's Tennis for the 2600 is better than a Lynx game. I wonder if Jimmy Connors had a Lynx and played his own game. I wonder if he was any good at it. Anyway, I've decided to sell most of my

41%

So I put together an 11-minute episode of my show using Windows Movie Maker, and I tried to save to the computer, but it kept freezing once it reached 41% completed. No matter what option I tried, it kept freezing at the same percentage: 41%. I tried resetting the computer. It still froze at 41%. Irritated, I tried moving parts around and tried once again. It worked. Now why do you suppose it would do that? Why would it matter which part went where? Computers sure are strange. Or picky. Or stupi

4:3 vs. 16:9

I was watching some home movies of stuff when I noticed the text I had put in wasn't all there. Some of it was off the screen. So after fiddling for a half-hour with the settings on the TV and not having any luck, I decided to fiddle with the DVD player. I had noticed that the aspect ratio was set on 4:3, so I put it to 16:9, which is what the TV is. Voila! All the text was there and not oozing off the sides. I had wondered why when fiddling with the TV's settings that it would be set to 4:3 whe

4,000 posts!

Well, I did it. I got up to 4,000. Only 1,000 more until it changes from "River Patroller" to "Quadrunner." I figure that'll take a little over a year if I post an average of thrice per day. Well, that's it for today, not a very long blog entry, is it?

4,000 blog entries!

I guess that's what happens when you blog continuously since 2006. Actually, this is blog entry #4,003. I was waiting for #4,000, but it snuck by me. Hm. Auto spell is underlining the word "snuck". It's in the Scrabble dictionary, though.   Anyway, I went to bed at 3 a.m. and slept all day. I woke up at 4 p.m. I intended to not do that, but I was so sleeeeepy, so I had to go back to sleep because I couldn't force myself out of bed. So after I forced myself up at 4 p.m., I went to work

4-mula

Steve Jenkins has an enormous problem. He was from the 3-up corporation and successfully obtained the formula for 4-up from the 4-up corporation (this is before the days of 7-up). But now he can't get out of the place! Seems the 4-up corporation planned for someone like Steve to break in and get the secret formula because robots and other stuff have blocked his path. How will Steve ever get out of the 4-up HQ alive? "4-mula" is a game I started on the Atari 2600 using batari Basic ove

4-mula

I have been making a new game for the Atari 2600 called "4-Mula." Here is its backstory: Alien Professor McScooper was hard at work creating the successor to 3-Up called 4-Up. This was, of course, the days before 7-Up. The humans wanted to try 4-Up for themselves. They had heard it was 1,000 times better than Coke or Pepsi and wanted it so badly they sent a guy into space. Bob Lbjsdfk, donning his spacesuit, snuck into McScooper's lab and got the bottle of 4-Up. The only trouble is he doesn't

4 more levels! 4 more levels!

Here's pics of a couple new levels (I replaced some of the old levels). I have room for about 4 more new ones before I don't have anything left in bank 2 (which is used for storing all the level design info.) So come on and get designing! The first one is E.T. on his side and Pac-Man, an homage to two of the worst games (or so they say) for the 2600. The second one was designed by gambler172 and the third one will be the last level (seems fitting because it says "The End.")

4 DS games

So with a visit to Nintendo World Report just now I discovered that four DS games have just been released within the past couple weeks. They are: Barbie Dreamhouse Party Doodle Jump Journey Monster High: 13 Wishes Moshi Monsters: Katsuma Unleashed.   Not exactly the best titles the system has to offer. ;( I think I'll pass on all of them except Doodle Jump if I actually find it. I want to go to Toys R Us again this weekend. And the flea market is this Sunday, too. If I can find a great wor

4 days' worth?

I can't believe I started this reboot of Aaron the Aant on Monday. I've gotten so far on it, I'm like, almost done now. I guess that happens when you devote most of your waking hours to programming. I really wanted to get a sound for collecting aaples in the game, but the score kept blinking, and other bizarre crap. Then it occurred to me that it probably wouldn't happen if I moved the score down to the bottom. So I did. And it worked. So now the score is at the bottom instead of the top. My eye

3k

I was working on Killer Heads of Lettuce when it gave me a 3k binary file upon compiling. I must have exceeded the 2k limit so it pushed it to 3k. I noticed Video Whizball's ROM was 3k, so I tried mine. It works in MESS just fine. Whether or not it will work on a real Channel F is another story, though, but if Video Whizball works on MESS and my 3k ROM works on MESS and Video Whizball obviously works on a Channel F else they wouldn't have released it... So anyway, what I did is the beginning o

3DS stuff: more

Well, I went to Best Buy today. I got two 3DS games. I almost got a MST3K DVD set, but the 3DS games were cheaper than one MST3K set, plus, I haven't updated my 3DS reviews page in a month, so I did that, even though I have yet another game coming in the mail. I only played one game so far out of the two I bought earlier. I posted a review of it here: http://www.atari2600land.com/3ds/ Looking forward to New Super Mario Bros. 2. I hope it's a lot easier than Super Mario 3D Land. Man that thing is

3DS stuff

I did something I haven't done in two months. I uploaded a review on to my 3DS reviews page. Now there's a review of Kirby Triple Deluxe on it. And early next month I want there to be a review of Mario Golf: World Tour, which I just bought today. That should tide me over until the much-wanted-by-me Mario Kart 8 comes out for the Wii-U. Looking through Best Buy's Wii-U part of the store, I noticed the Sonic game was missing, which is sad because I wanted to buy it. I did find Ducktales Remastered

3DS stuff

Well, on April 6, I played Frogger for the 3DS. Today, a week later, I played SpongeBob SquigglePants, two games I had bought a few weeks ago. Now I'm not so sure what I'll play next since there doesn't seem to be anything I'd be interested in. I don't know how to play the Zelda or the Star Fox games, and found the NES version of Kid Icarus too hard, so I'm not sure whether to put down $30 on a game I won't like. I just realized my head hurts. And it's hot in here. I think I'll go turn down the

3DS stuff

Well, I did something for the first time. I had to buy a new game for a system that has games in store on eBay. Why can't at least one store stock a game I'm looking for? And, after days of searching, I finally found my 3DS power cord. I did not put it where I found it, so I blame a ghost. Since I'm living in my grandparents' house I blame one of their ghosts. Why they would want to hate me like that, I don't know. Maybe because I don't visit them at the cemetery. But enough of that, I found the

3DS reviews aplenty

Continuing after what seemed to be a drought (a few weeks with none), I've posted my thoughts on Pinball Hall of Fame for the 3DS on the eve of one of the most anticipated titles in the console's short (so far) history. If Fred Meyer has it tomorrow morning when I go (before the flea market), I will be happy. I would be happy anyway since I get to stop at McDonald's for breakfast (yummy Egg McMuffins!), but this would make me even more happy. And if I find something worth buying at the flea mark

3DS Reviews again

Well, it was 9 days late, but I finally got a new 3DS review up. Check out what I think of "Centipede: Infestation" by following this link: http://www.atari2600land.com/3ds/ The way the game is played may surprise you, I can tell you it sure did me. Let's just say it's not Centipede-ish. And on Sunday, I'm going to get Super Mario 3D Land if they have it at Fred Meyer once it opens. Last time we went to the flea market, we stopped at Fred Meyer before, so we usually get there right once it opens

3DS Reviews

Hi all. I've started a 3DS review site which you can find here: http://www.atari2600land.com/3ds/ (Links don't work for some reason, so I can't put the word "here" as the thing to click on any more.) Every Monday, I'll post a review here if I can. I already bought next week's game as well as some yummy Boo Berry cereal. So now I have two 3DS games. I also got 3 game.com games in the mail today, so now I have 15 of them. So anyway, that's what I'm up to game wise.

3DS games!

I got three 3DS games today. I put a review up of Asphalt 3D on the http://www.atari2600land.com/3ds/ 3DS reviews page. I also went into a Buyback$ store for the second time and this time I actually purchased a couple used cheapies: SpongeBob SquigglePants 3D and Steel Diver. Got them both for under $30, not only that, the stickers are really easy to get off. If only Gamestop's were that easy (grr.) But I can't review SBSP and SD right now because my eye began hurting (which is regular) and I ne

3DS games

I have been slacking off on my 3DS. I got a game for it a few weeks ago and just now got around to playing it. As with I do all the other ones I have, I made a mini-review of it. January is typically very slow in the game releasing department, so I thought it would be a perfect time to update the 3DS reviews page. My latest game I got is Classic Games Overload: Card & Puzzle Edition by Telegames. You can find the review I have of it at my 3DS reviews page here: http://www.atari2600land.com/3
