I'm just wondering, do you guys want to shoot stuff while navigating through the mazes? And if so, what? Should I have part of the playfield covering up the treasure and you shoot that away in order to get it? Or how about I use up the player1 sprite and add like the Loch Ness Monster or something? Anyway, I'm still working on this.
I got 4 NES games: After Burner, Toobin, Solomon's Key and Rad Racer II. Some idiot with the name of Avman wrote his name on Toobin' and After Burner. And there is a Mr. Video East label on Toobin'. "Tampering with this label will result in charges for cassette." Really? #1: It's not a cassette, it's a cartridge, #2: you're the one that took it in to trade, and #3: You're probably either out of business or a heckuva long ways away. Well, also, I saw two Intellivision games with boxes. I didn't
The top 3 puzzle games for the NES (because there aren't that many.)
Tetris 2 - In my opinion, better than Dr. Mario. It has more block shapes than just one pill.
Puzznic - A rare and underrated puzzle game with about 100 fixed puzzles involving moving blocks and matching them up by color and making them disappear.
Pipe Dream - Make pipes so the ooze can ooze out in them instead of getting the board all messy.
Well, there you have it. What's your favorite NES puzzle games? I'd lo
...well, technically, it's the ball, but I did make it so the suibmarine can fire! The missiles don't really do anything right now, but they might do something later. You press fire to fire the missile in the direction you're heading.
About two years ago that summer, I was in a horrible job training site at an onion factory. (They also took in other veggies.) The onions smelled horrible and overpowering. The only upside is there were two cute girls I worked with. Well, anyway, fast-forward two years later, and I'm at another job training site. And who should be working there but one of the girls that was with the onion factory with me! Small world, huh? Well, anyway, our first conversation went like this:
her :'I remember y
Added a whole buncha things, including a timer, and fixed the select switch problem (well, I didn't fix the select switch problem, Michael Rideout did.) To turn on the timer, put the left difficulty on A and a clock will appear (instead of an H). Right now, the default settings are 30 seconds for every maze, but that will change depending on what mazes are added/subtracted. Also, improved the "ping" noise. This'll be the last update for today, will work on this game some more tomorrow. Among the
Got diagonals working in Minigame. Got minigame back up and running. To get to it, press the select switch and then reset switch. Got 'ping' varying in volume like a real sonar (maybe, tell me what you think). Slight bug in that if you press the select switch in the "GOSUB" title screen, you can't get it back to 0. So just restart the emulator to change between game 0 & 1 (sorry. )Here's some simple instructions:
to exit minigame, press select switch
to exit game over screen in minigame
I know, it's the 4th already, but here goes:
1. Dig Dug
2. Moon Patrol
3. Midnight Magic
4. Grand Prix
5. Word Zapper
6. Bowling
7. Hangman
8. Pole Position
9. Video Pinball
10. Asteroids
Well, here's the latest version. I won't be working on it any more today. I'll start work on it again tomorrow once I get home from work (which will be at about 1:30pm Pacific time.)
Added things:
-Score bug fixed! (Thanks to Michael Rideout)
-Score bug in minigame fixed
-New score font
-Added Easter egg
-2 more mazes (enter password '47' to see them.)
Also, I slowed the submarine down a tiny bit on the normal setting. Tell me if it's fine or if you want it to speed back up to what
I've been tinkering with the game yesterday, and here it is so far. I've added the mini-game (which is like Ants, but with no timer.) I have 881 bytes left in bank 1 and 910 bytes left in bank 2. So I'll be adding more mazes in bank 2, and tinkering with the game (most of which is in bank 1.) For those of you who don't know bBasic, all the mazes (which are playfield commands) must be kept in the last bank (which, in the case of an 8k game, would be the second bank.) 2k and 4k games have only one
I went to Game Crazy yesterday and to my surprise they had some new Atari 2600 games (well, you know, new to me.) So I got California Games, Winter Games, Fishing Derby, Seaquest and Space Jockey for $5. That ups my collection to around 90, so I'm close to the 100 mark. I'm not going to be posting any more in the Wanted forum until after the holidays because people are using the mail like mad to send Christmas presents and stuff.
I've decided to make this blog to track the goings-on of my GoSub program. I don't think I can make it 32K, but I can make it at least 8K. Here's the way it stands right now for December 2nd. For some reason, it decides not to accept my asm file I made specifically for the game and instead garbles up the score. Switchselect works, but option 1 goes to a demo instead of an actual game. I've yet to program the actual game. It's on the list of things to do.
I'm good at Edtris. At least I think so. I've gotten 442 lines so far as my top score, but I think I can do way better than that, because my hands were starting to go numb. The way I type is bad, with my wrists resting underneath the keyboard. I'm surprised I don't have carpal tunnel syndrome (knocks on wood.) It's pretty boring because there's no SFX or music, but all I have to do to make music is put in a Godspeed You! Black Emperor CD and play it. In other news, I have been preparing to go ba
Well, here's what I have so far: A brand-new Gosub, this time I'm sticking with it and only it until I get a 32k version. I don't know when or if Batari will release said version where I can put playfield info in every bank instead of the last one, so it may be a while before you see another update. Right now I've got a little under 500 bytes to spare with 15 mazes, the beginnings of a password system, b/w-color and left difficulty are operating (game select is kinda. Right now, if you set it on
I think I'll have to wait until the release of the version of bBasic with playfield graphics in every bank, but I want to make a 32k bBasic game! And I think GoSub would be the perfect idea. Just think, dozens of mazes for the sub to navigate through, along with an Ants-style minigame. Now THAT would be cool. And, what's more, it might be actually good enough to sell in the store. That would be really cool!
I have to finish up job training that I abandoned, so that means less free time start
Has anyone heard of these? They're like binary files but the extension is .A26. They work fine on Stella (Haven't tried it for Z26 yet.) The only reasons I ask are: #1: The people at HSC were having trouble trying to find my challenge of the week (Edtris), so I kindly posted an A26 file of it up. It wouldn't let me upload it, so I had to zip it. and #2: I haven't seen very many of them on the internet.
When I was a kid, whenever the HBO Theme song (played before a movie) would come on, that thing scared the heck outta me. I remember one time, I was watching it with my family and I was so scared I had to hide behind the couch. It wasn't the theme itself, but what was on the screen while the theme was playing. The HBO logo creeped ever closer. I must have figured in my kid brain that the logo was going to jump out of the TV screen and come kill me. Since then, I've fallen in love with the music
The schools here are two hours late, as there is ice in various spots (not where I am, though.) Mom said there was lots of ice downtown. It must have snowed a bit last night as there is around half-an-inch on the ground (some of it melted earlier.) It's been snowing *very* lightly the past 15 minutes or so, but I think it stopped now. The snow advisory continues until 10 am Pacific. There could be more snow Wednesday night into Thursday, so we'll just have to see about that.
It's sticking! And with snow expected tonight, there's going to be even more! But I think the Weather Channel is extremely wrong. They say it's a rain snow mix and 37 right now, while Northwest Cable News (a local news network) say it's 32 and snowing. Someone is wrong here, and I think it's TWC. I'll post some beautiful pictures tomorrow. Right now, there's a half-inch sticking to grass and barkdust, and kinda slushy on the roads (well, the least traveled roads, anyway, my cul-de-sac has slush,
...but not sticking. We had a light dusting this morning on the barkdust, but now it seems to be disappearing, as the sun is shining now. It's supposed to snow again tonight (or so they say). The Weather Channel didn't have the word "rain" in tonight's description, while it did have the word "snow." We'll see how much snow comes tonight into tomorrow. If it doesn't have about an inch, I'll post the pics I took earlier this morning tomorrow. Right now it's 34, so while it still could snow some mo
There still doesn't seem to be a consensus on whether it will snow here tonight. Last I heard, some stations say a rain/snow mix, and still others say snow, but not sticking. Nevertheless, I'm going to stay up all night long just to see if it snows. Most of you are probably thinking I'm an idiot for doing so, but snow is like a once-a-year event here in Oregon. Also, I'm going to Game Crazy and Circuit City later today. Mom needs to buy my sister a Christmas present at Circuit City, and unfortun
I thought since most people know me as atari2600land, I think I'll tell you a little bit more about myself. My name is Chris, and I live in a trailer park (as mentioned earlier), with my mom (although I pay her rent). Salem, Oregon, the town I'm in, has about 150,000 people, and is about 50 miles south of the big town in Oregon, Portland. It's also about 50 miles to the Pacific Ocean, and the beautiful Lincoln City. I have brown hair, brown eyes and I'm currently trying to grow a mustache. No pi
Right now we're doing the traditional putting up the lights and tree. Mom got a "friendly" reminder to pick up the leaves, and she's pissed off about it. I am, too, I mean how can we do that if it doesn't stop raining? Stupid trailer park managers. I think they should be forced to pick up our leaves if they want to be that stupid. I probably should stop talking about the managers if I don't want to be kicked out of AtariAge!
The weather people were saying we'd get snow on Sunday night, but the
...that is, my next generation. I let my 6-year-old niece play Atari for the first time. She got pretty good at Grand Prix. Then later, me and my sister played Pong on Video Olympics. She wanted to see how fast the ball went, so we positioned the paddles so it kept hitting the ball back and forth without us moving the paddle controllers. I think she was a little disappointed that it didn't go faster. My sister, niece and grandpa have just left and all in all, it was a good Thanksgiving dinner (a
This is just wishful thinking, but the Weather Channel did say rain on Sunday-Tuesday with lows of 31, 32, and 31. I guess it could be freezing rain, but I really want it to snow this winter because the last time it snowed was New Year's Day 2004. So we really need to make up for the past 2 winters where it didn't. (It did, but it didn't stick! Argh!) I want to go out and make a snowman. You can't make a rain man. We've had over 11 1/2 inches of rain this month in Salem. And the airport (where t
