Sit-down comic

Well, how I draw my M-Sat comic is i take a 8.5x11 page and I draw six comics on it. Probably not how most single-panel cartoonists do it, but I like it that way. I usually draw them one at a time, keeping the paper in a safe place until I have six comics on it. Then I take the piece of paper with 6 comics on it, run it through the scanner, go into Paint and reduce the size by 75%. Then, I divide them into 6 seperate ones using Paint. If I'm doing my Sunday comic, then I reduce the size by 60% a

I want a game I made in the AtariAge store.

I've tried contacting Albert. I tried to PM him, but I guess he's so busy making other games, and apparently mine aren't good enough. I thought MidSpace was good enough for a 2k game about shooting food in space, but I guess not. I've tried another thing with the 2600 with the 50-foot-tall stalk of celery, but to no avail. I remember long ago how pleased I was to have GoSub be in there. I just wanted to have another game be in there for people to buy.   I don't want money, I just make

64 vs. 128 - kbps

OK, so it looks like I'm having trouble with Audacity then. When I go to convert a song to MP3, the default settings list it as 128 kbps, but once I finish making it an MP3 and click Properties on the MP3 I just made, it says it's 64 kbps. Well, with this latest song finished, I'm up to past 100 MB, and it's about 4 hours in. Also, it appears I can't go back and redo the project to make it 128 kbps because I apparently moved some files it needed after I did the first time. I tried putting the

What is this Sega Master System game?

Awhile back, I got this. I have since gotten rid of my Master System and forgot I had this, so it's for sale, too. I'd like to know what this game is since it's all in Japanese. It looks pretty interesting from the box art, though. Women ninjas and mouths made of fire. Hmm. PM if you'd like to buy this or can identify this one. if you're just looking at the short version of this blog, I scanned the box art and there's a picture of it on here.

I hurt my head thinking too much.

Like Mr. Gumby in the Monty Python sketch: "My brain hurts!" It's summer now. Hard to believe the first day of summer was 10 days ago. And I forgot to tell here I made another comic book issue. I do these to keep myself busy, much like playing and making video games, making music, animation, and other stuff I do. All various projects going all at once because if I don't, I'd be very bored just sitting and watching TV. And besides, there's nothing good on anyway. Yet I have all my DVDs in case I

Commodore 64 - expensive.

A few years ago, I bought a Commodore 64 at a used video game shop. Periodically I get it out and play with it and then it goes back in the garage. The first computer I ever used (when I was 3 or so), was Commodore 64. But sadness came the day Dad sold it because he bought me an NES. Anyway, I want to get back into C64 collecting. But there's a problem: The prices of games. Why are Commodore 64 games so freaking expensive? Right now I have 5 games: Clowns, Frog Master, Omega Race, Radar Rat Ra

Wiinervation

Well, Nintendo Wii seems to be loved by everyone...except me. They went and ruined Mario Kart! They made it way too hard. They could have at least made an option to control the game by the Control Pad instead of twisting and turning the stupid remote. I kept falling down in Wario's Gold Mine every 5 seconds. So now I'm probably going to have to hire someone to beat the game for me so I can actually have fun with it. Argh! Well, anyway, at least Virtual Boy and Galactic Pinball is fun, so not a

Size losing

It pays to check your blog entries to see if you have new comments! Because I did, the file size for GoSub for the Odyssey2 has been cut in half. Now it's only 677 bytes instead of >1k. I want to thank Kurt Woloch for helping me with this project. I wonder now how many levels I can put in. It'll be more than the 2600 version, that's for sure now. Now I can know that my vision of a 2k GoSub with lots of levels is now plausible. Oh, and I also bought a PSOne (the smallest PlayStation model) and

Don't give up!

I have to look at all this and say this: How can this not be total control of the world by China via fearmongering? They brainwashed most of the people, telling us over and over again that this all: "social distancing", closing down shops, grocery stores running out of toilet paper, is just due to a virus? We've had similar viruses, e.g. Zika, Spanish Flu, etc. But they didn't close down nearly everything. Schools were open, sports were being played. China sought control over the USA and the res

My brain hurts.

I spent the last couple of hours making another big 29x29 crossword puzzle. And I'm not even halfway done making it. Problems kept arising, so I kept fixing them. And this is what I have so far. The "theme" is aliens. I don't know how I got to thinking about aliens, I just did. I thought about making this a 25x25 crossword with "UNIDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECTS" (25 letters) in the center, but then I thought of the movie title "CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND" (29 letters), and making another 25x2

Ladder to space

They're talking about building a ladder that goes to outer space again. I think they won't get very far before they find out it's impossible. And even if it is possible, what if it fell over? Millions of people would probably be crushed by it! Whoever thought up of this dumb idea should be sent in a rocket headed straight to the sun! I heard they want to get it done by the '30s. I really hope they don't do this, or that they're just kidding, because I don't want to be crushed by it if it fell o

Making crosswords the old way

I'm sure now in the age of computers, there are crossword making programs to make ones like you find in the New York Times, but since I can't find one, probably since it's a specialty program nobody but crossword puzzle makers would be interested in, every day I sit down with a pencil, eraser and dictionary and make them the good old fashioned way. Then when I finally make one, I enter MS Paint and type the numbers and black out the black squares and write the clues. Sometime I'm going to make a

almost Jag collecting quitting time

So here I am, two games away from completing a Jaguar collection. It's not all the Jaguar games, though. I can't afford Rayman, et al. And I don't have a Jaguar CD thing, so I don't have any Jag CD games. And I probably couldn't afford a Jaguar CD anyway with the eBay asking prices. So anyway, I ordered Fever Pitch Soccer off of eBay (I think the e doesn't stand for "electronics," but rather "expensive".), which leaves only two games left R5 and under: International Sensible Soccer and Power Dri

Confuse-a-cat.

So after a lot of work, I finally got the cat in the game. I also finally got a bug fixed pertaining to the mouse's movement. It seemed as though whenever he touched the cat and the cat touched the wall that the mouse would change direction even though it did not touch the wall. Somehow I fixed it. I don't know why the new code works, but the main point is IT DOES. I also added a new thing that I hope would give more difficulty to a somewhat simple game: Allowing the cat and mouse to go off sc

I'm going insane.

After playing around with words for some reason, I had discovered that "pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanokoniosis" and "unitedkingdomofgreatbritainandnorthernireland" share the same central letter (which is "i") This then led to one of the most odd ideas I had ever thought up of, cruciverbally speaking. I decided to start work on a 45x45 crossword puzzle using those two words. But Microsoft Word couldn't handle a 45x45 table, so what I did was create a 23x23 one, print it four times and glue

Arctic Circle closed!

I wanted to stop at Arctic Circle's Salem location after my visit to the doctor, but found out they had closed it! Anyway, got a blood test, had to poke twice, couldn't get anything out of my right hand, so they got the left. And even then it was slow. But my left hand doesn't hurt. My right one still does a little. I just got home. If I still have high cholesterol, I'll have to start taking a pill for it. Whoopee. You'd think the doctor wouldn't care since he hadn't for all these years. It's li

Santa Claus

I put Santa Claus in Nice Ice 2. Unfortunately, the game code is acting up, and I can only put him in if he's a character. So he's the little man icon used in many Odyssey 2 games. I still think there's something wrong with the code since it is very finicky about what I can and can't do. I spent a good several hours (not at once) trying to see what the heck was wrong with it. So now that that's done, what's next is to add collision detection to the characters. I think I have in my head how I'd l

Jackpot

Today I got in the mail Sub-Scan, Taz, Survival Run, Fathom, M.A.D. and Flash Gordon, bringing my total # of 2600 games to 270. I also went to the game store (same ol' same ol', nothing new), and Borders, where I got a Pat Metheny Group CD, three long songs on it. You've ever heard of the Weather Channel's "Local on the 8s" segment? It's that kind of music, only a bit more livelier. Today did start out a bit rough, though: the dog refused to pee outside. When we got home, sure enough, there was

Shoot the lettuce

So I worked on my spaceship game for the Channel F. It's similar to Space Jockey for the Atari 2600. You fly a spaceship, moving only up and down, to shoot at stuff coming towards you. Now I have the lettuce head in the game. It doesn't move yet nor can you destroy it, but it's there. Yesterday I worked on making the spaceship shoot missiles. Then I went to sleep for all of yesterday. Woke up at midnight and went back to work on it after eating breakfast. I've decided to start working in smal

Bert's head

I think we all know Bert is hard to draw. Even at that, imagine drawing it with programing using Atari 2600 assembly. I wanted to put Bert's head on the title screen of my game. This is the first attempt: Bert's pupils are yellow, which made him look weird. So I went for a hunt on how to make them black. Then I found a way to make them green. So I changed the background color to gray (Bert just had to have black hair.) While I was programming it, it magically changed size and this is

Innovative Technology

So I got a record player that records into your computer. Let me just say while I'm glad I finally bought one, I am less than thrilled with the results. Must be because records have hissing sounds that I can't seem to get rid of (using Audacity, anyway.) For a few samples of how this works, go to my website I set up that has a few samples of really short songs. Notice the hissing. Argh! Is there any program (free or that I have to pay for) to get rid of the hisses? I noticed a few things that I

It's toooo hot!

It was 89 today and 91 yesterday. I'm not looking to next week, because according to the Weather Channel, 94 on Tuesday and 97 on Wednesday! The whole west is in the grip of a heat wave! Even Phoenix, which is pretty hot normally, is even HOTTER! Ulg! I didn't get a chance to go to the pool, because I thought the pets needed the fans on after what happened last night. This is why I like November, December and January. No relying on the fan, and, as a bonus, maybe it might snow, and snow is fun.

Pokemon Party Mini 2 - September 17, 2018

So I went back to work on my Pokemon Mini game I was working on because this guy on eBay told me he had a Pichu Bros. game he'd give me a great deal on. Except I had to pass on it because I already have it. So that got me thinking about my Pokemon Mini game I was making. Does the shading on these clouds look cool or stupid/weird? It's easy to change, so be honest. And I went to update the page for it, but the é and copyright symbols weren't working any more. They changed the pages I used to go

Oops, it did it again

The temperature has gotten above 100 Fahrenheit again. I hate triple digit weather, especially because i don't have an air conditioner in our house and they're too expensive to get. The cat and dog are suffering more than I am, and yes, me and my mom have been trying to cool them down & stuff. It's just so stupid that it has to do this, especially considering that I live in western Oregon! And it's going to be 100 tomorrow, but fortunately 94 on Sunday. Due to demand, I'm going to add
