My thoughts on everything.

Frogger (PSX)

So I played this stupid game for 2 hours. Half of which was spent trying to beat level 4. I don't think I could even beat level 5 because there's too many cars. Did I mention the game is uberhard? Well, it is. Most of the time was spent yelling and cursing at the game's controls. I thought I couldn't beat level 3, but I did after a half-hour of playing the damn thing. And at the beginning of my playing, my eye hurt, so two hours later even though I was stressed out about beating level 4, it oddl

Insecticide bugs me.

A few times it has happened recently. I screw things up in Insecticide to the point where it doesn't work anymore and I get so angry I swear that I will never work on it ever again. But something about wanting to finish a really neat IMO game always draws me back in. I am right now at a point where I think everything is working like I want it to. One of Behemoth's wings wasn't working properly, and, stop the presses and alert the media, I got it working right. I was cleaning my room and I found

Nintendo Stuff Issue 4

Well, I completed it and said it was going to post it on June 1. June 1 came and went. I guess I am too busy working on the Secret Government Waffle Project that I forgot, but just now I posted the fourth issue of Nintendo Stuff. In this exciting issue, I review Hydro Thunder. And if that isn't enough excitement, I also added in a review of Milo's Astro Lanes. I already have one of the two games for July's issue, I just need to play it. I also need to pick out a second game for the issue. I thin

The return of Super Giuseppe Bros.

I made this over 1k, working for about literally 12 hours or so. Most of the work was done yesterday, when I started at about 6am and went until 2pm with no breaks except to go to the bathroom. Odyssey2 coding is VERY HARD AND FRUSTRATING. Is it worth it? You be the judge, I posted the result right here.

PenPen TriIceLon

I just woke up after 14 hours of sleep. I am still really sleepy. And then it hit me: I'm sleeping more than half my life away. Oh well, at least I'm happy. Well, if I'm sleeping anyway. Before my long sleep, I decided to see if I could figure out PenPen TriIceLon for the Dreamcast again. My goal before bedtime: Get at least first place in something. It took me 7 tries, but I finally got first place in the short easy TriIceLon on Candy Mountain. It's interesting how in the US instruction manual

Whoosh!

Time just zooms by when you sleep about half your life away. The only reason I wake up is because I need to go to the bathroom. Anyway, it has been about two whole months since I worked on Jack and the Beanstalk for the PS1. I was looking for PS1 games to buy on eBay last night, which led me to decide to work on my game. I have come to the conclusion that it will probably stay silent for good. But I want to finish the game, silent or not. But at the rate I'm going, it will probably be 5 years fr

I survived

I survived the power outage! Thankfully it was only out for about an hour, between 10:45 and noon. Luckily, since right now at 2pm it's 94 degrees. They're forecasting 100 for today and tomorrow, so I'm glad the power is back on. I played my GBA and Pokemon Mini all the time. I've been watching the Weather Channel. The town called Pee Pee, Ohio had thunderstorms. Seems fitting. I've also been wanting more Dreamcast games. I'm going to have a new game thoughts entry, too. I went to a store, Skies

A legal question

My mom got out my tons and tons of Legos from the pantry for my nephew. He apparently likes playing with them. I woke up at about 4pm and then Mom came home and I saw these Legos on the table. It was like I was a kid again. I saw stuff that were not Legos, and I saw plenty of headless Lego people, armless Lego people, and handless Lego people. I saw this guy who looked like Robin Hood. And then I saw a lady Lego person. And that was the beginning. Maid Marian. I figured "Why not do a full-length

Banana

Well, I've changed the name of Aegis Games to Banana. Just Banana. Like Apple, only it's Banana. They're both fruit. There's a company called "Banana Software," which was yielded doing a quick Google search, but then again there's no company called "Apple Software." Here's a screen I put in Insecticide reflecting the name change. Also, check out Banana's new website at http://www.atari2600land.com/banana so there. I also got "Cubic Ninja" for the 3DS at Best buy for $14.50.

Vigilante

This is a very bad game. It is awful. It is terrible. How dare they make such a game such as this piece of crap? First off, there are too many enemies. And if you touch one, you lose any weaponry you have gotten. What? Why? These are the two reasons this game should not have been made. Period. It's too hard. It looks like someone forgot to playtest the game to make sure it is possible. TOO HARD, and TOO BAD. Now for the story. Skinheads have taken Madonna hostage. I have never met any skinheads,

You are in Zarg.

Since it's really cold out and I didn't want to wait until Spring came to make the intro, I decided to animate it. Somehow you got yourself in the planet Zarg. The helpful alien is not to shoot, because he's part of the intro and sets up the whole scenario you got in. The evil Nightmare Nemesis screwed the planet Zarg up, which is the setup to make weird stuff happen to shoot at. And during the game, you shoot at the green ghosts that periodically appear. And even though the intro has been comp

replacing a computer

So I went and looked at the computers at Best Buy. I wasn't intending to buy one now, just am looking at them. I'm also wondering why this older computer hasn't died yet. Why did the newer one have to go first? I looked at them, some were $300, some were $600, the top gaming ones were $1000. I am just so confused and I don't know what to get. I walked out knowing that their one year service warranty was $70 for one year. I also walked out with a copy of Mega Man Legend Collection for 3DS. I don'

How to KiLL an i.

So I tried to put in a death for the I last night. It wasn't going well. It went back to the beginning, but the same colors in game were showing up as well. So I asked for help on the Videopac forums. Rene had a solution: Use "dis tcnti" at the ending. I don't know what that means, it sounds like someone just punched the computer keyboard and had random keys get up, But lo and behold, it worked. For the first bank. The other banks I was having trouble with, it kept doing the same thing: Not show

Dipping my toe in card games

Not the ones like solitaire. Inspired by an AtariAge post over in the General Chat area, I decided to take a stab at making a card game. This card game however is different than Pokemon or anything like that. It's more like a solo text adventure, only with cards. So this card game will have a zany sense of humor. With a name like "Fred's Search For the Perfect Eggplant," how can it not? And it's a lot like the choose your adventure books. I took a stab at creating a few cards. They're supposed t

Microvision homebrew? (part 7)

Question time, now that I have the right things (except a voltage meter) to make a game. #1 - How would I give power to the Propeller chip? Enough power to not zap it to death? #2 - How would I make sure the game I program works? In other words, how would I connect the Propeller to the Microvision and make it use the Microvision screen? #3 - How do I take apart a MIcrovision game? I can't find any screws to unscrew or anything like that. I've decided in favor of using Phaser Strike instead o

Learning is fun

Apparently I've been in an educational mood recently. Yesterday I bought a Didj game online and today I've resumed my work on episode 602 of Square One. For those who don't know, "Square One" was an educational math show made by the same people who make Sesame Street, but it was aimed at older kids. It kind of was like, well, the Disney Channel, only add in math. Since Sesame Workshop has no plans to resume the show (why would they, it's been dead for 20 years now.) I recently started work on a

Easter

You want to know what I'm doing for Easter? I went to Fred Meyer this morning (they're open on Easter apparently.) and got myself, among other things, a turkey TV dinner. I thought since I usually do that for Thanksgiving, that I should treat myself to turkey on Easter too. And then I will yell at the TV because the Blazers are going to lose game 1 of the NBA playoffs. Mom got me some peeps and candy, but that's just about all that's special for this Easter. My sister is busy and I don't want to

When bad things happen to good submarines

So I worked on GoSub for the Intellivision again tonight. I added a few things. First, I added a game over screen. Now when you die for the final time, the maze disappears, you get a "game over" message in the middle of the screen and your octopus count and stuff are still down at the bottom. Second, I got pretty tired of the crashing sound being a dull one note music, so I experimented for about 15 minutes trying to find a good crashing sound effect. The game is changing day by day here. I also

It's time for Golf.

Golf for the Atari 2600 just happened to be one of the few 2600 games that aren't in the garage right now. Most of them are in 5 cardboard boxes (because 1 wasn't enough when you have over 300 unique titles.) So anyway, I popped it in and blech! All the colors are wrong. Sometimes I had trouble seeing which object was the ball or the hole to putt it in. So I went to work to change the colors. This is the result: Which I think is a lot nicer looking than what it used to be. I had a bit of troubl

In a Pig's Eye

So I got this 2disc album, a bootleg of Pink Floyd called "In A Pig's Eye". On disc 2, it has Shine On You Crazy Diamond parts I-V on one track and parts VI-X on another. So what I did is blended them together with Audacity, creating one 33-minute long track of Shine On You Crazy Diamond. That is what I'm listening to right now. I have never heard that particular song before, and it's quite good, just like all the rest of Pink Floyd's works, but my favorite is still the song Atom Heart Mother. T

Game Gear

Unafraid to open a new can of worms, I decided to resume work on my GoSub for Game Gear game. Last time I quit, I deleted all the files in disgust, vowing never to work on it again since the SMS Power people were quite mean to me. Then I remembered: I backed up all the files on my webpage. So I downloaded my own game zip file I made. Now, since collision detection wouldn't work, though, since I put the sprites up some weird way even though it's exactly the same way I did in Mr. Ultra, I needed a

Super Magnetic Neo

This game reminds me of something. Oh yes, it's Crash Bandicoot for the PS1. I had instantly made the connection when level 1 started. Unfortunately, both in its layout and difficulty. I sucked at Crash Bandicoot. So it was natural that I would suck at this as well. I finally beat level 1 when I was down to 0 lives. I guess I should have read the item description more carefully. I missed the part where it said "repro front artwork, no manual." So I had no choice but to say the description was ac

The Evolution of Larry (part 2)

How did this game begin? It's time to look back in the history of this game. Someone in 2013 suggested doing a game about Black Friday. Searches turned up nothing about the whereabouts of the thread, but I can tell you that's truth, and why a game called "Larry the Lemon" has the binary file name bf34.bin. I found bf1.bin on my computer and instead of a lemon it has a multicolored sprite of a guy pushing a shopping cart. By bf4.bin, there was a little purple demon troll thingy as well as a prese

Get animated.

So I was working on some other animation when suddenly I remembered that I had an unfinished project. I looked. The last time I had worked on it was New Year's Day 2015. Yikes. So I guess my new year's resolution is to finish this project. I have 3:50 done. I was making the first episode of "A Bird and a Sign," an animated series I was going to do about a bird sitting atop a Stop sign in the middle of an isolated desert and weird stuff happens to them. But this isn't a kids thing. When the alien

Revisiting 3DS

Well, the 3DS is still alive, and since it is, I thought I'd resurrect my 3ds page back from the dead. http://www.atari2600land.com/3ds/ This is a site section focusing on my 3ds reviews. The last update was July. I updated the site just today with a review of Bit.Trip Saga. There are a few games I'm looking forward to on the 3DS for 2014. They are: Mario Golf World Tour, Yoshi's New Island, and the Kirby one, which judging from the info, sounds a lot like Virtual Boy Wario Land where Wario/Ki
