I am by no means a Pokemon fan. However, if I wanted every SINGLE Nintendo system (NES and up), I would have to fork over an insane amount of money and buy a Pokemon Mini from Japan. So that's what I did. Well, not an insane amount, but it is one of my most expensive video game purchases ever. I think I'll be selling some more stuff soon to get more money back. However, this is the exact reason I sold what I did. So I can buy stuff. Am I right? I think next to go will be N64 games I never play.
I thought about 5 years ago, that it would be cool if I had my own magazine. So I made issue 1. Then I forgot about it. I was all ready to make a second issue when I rediscovered I already had in 2013. So anyway, since I had not posted it on the website for my magazine, I did. And so now I'm working on the third issue which I plan to complete in September. It's funny that I wanted this to be out three times a year (jan-apr, may-aug, and sep-dec) and all I've made so far are sep-dec issues. It's
Remember that big 29x29 crossword puzzle I was working on? Well, here's the result. That being said, I'm still not done. I still have to make the grid, put in clues, and see if I used the same word twice (which I usually do with ones this big), and if I do, fix it so it doesn't. Also, I need other pairs of eyes to scan for mistakes, etc. So here it is, the preliminary 7th 29x29 crossword I've made. Well, I'll make the clues later because right now my brain hurts again.
EDIT: Caught and fixed
So I am working on my secret game for the VB for the coding competition at Planet Virtual Boy (http://www.planetvb.com) I got the thing to play a little song for the title screen. Nothing fancy, just a short tune I composed that loops over and over again. About 14 seconds or so worth of music. I don't plan on making any music for in-game, since I want the sfx to really be heard without music. I don't know about whether or not to make the title screen tune longer or not. Right now as I'm typing t
I hate sleep. I always want to be active and doing things, like video game designing, or other stuff. So I dread going to sleep. Some interesting thoughts have come during sleep. Like a few nights ago, I had an idea for a crossword puzzle theme. I remember counting the letters in each clue of the theme with my fingers, making sure each theme word added up to 15. I lie there asleep thinking up words for a crossword puzzle to make. How dull must my life be?! Anyway, the theme was candy. I don't kn
So I took a few hours to play with Intellivision programming. This is a result. The beginning of Insecticide for the Intellivision. I don't know whether or not I could be able to complete it. But I would like to do something to train me and help me with the VB version I want to finish. This might be a good first step. As of right now, Gi-Ant can walk around, punch with the upper fire buttons and kick with the lower fire buttons. He can also jump by pressing up. With the movement code done, it sh
After spending about an hour fiddling with my ActionMax game, I got this dumb idea in my head to make an acrostic puzzle. For those of you unfamiliar with them, it's where you take a famous quote or something and rearrange the letters to make clues to form other words, and the solver has to write down the answers to the clues letter by letter and also put the same letters in the squares. It's a really hard thing to do, especially MAKE, especially when you've got a really long quote to do, like t
I was just wondering if the Harmony cart works on the 7800 or not. The reason I ask is because I don't want to plug in my 2600. I just now played Food Fight for the first time. Here are my thoughts. Could the guy trying to eat the ice cream be any more slower? I doubt it. I move the joystick really hard for the first time and he moves an inch. Without a manual, I discovered that the point of the game is to eat the ice cream cone. But there are chefs that apparently don't want you to. So you hit
Here's what I put when I needed to leave feedback on eBay
"game works well, very fast shipping"
which is true, but here's what I wanted to put on eBay feedback:
"game works well, but there was a stupid sticker on the label which I had to spend ten minutes getting off with Goo Gone and trying to peel the sticker off the label tried to come off at the edge, but luckily the label is still there and no damage was done to it, very fast shipping."
I doubt there was enough room to put that on there
No, this blog is not going to be about the movie. It is however going to be about the PEZ dispenser that was inspired by the movie. I began collecting Giant PEZ dispensers a few years ago. I have some regular-sized PEZ dispensers in the garage, but I feel that Giant PEZ dispensers are better because they come in their own unique box instead of a cellophane wrapper. In case you're wondering how giant Giant PEZ dispensers are, the package says "Over 12 inches tall!" So, about a foot long. I decide
Here's an update on Captain Bruce for those of you wondering. Here's what I need to do:
+ Make overlays. I designed the overlay, so at least that's done.
+ Check to see if the game will work on a real Odyssey 1. This is something I can't do because I don't have a real Odyssey 1. If you are interested in playtesting, PM me.
So that probably leaves you wondering: "Why are you making homebrew games for a system you don't have?" The answer is because I love the thing. I love the concept, I lov
I got this game and wondered why I couldn't jump past the really big hole in 1-1. As it turns out, I discovered in a YouTube playthrough I needed to kick the stump in order for a platform to appear. Argh. There is no mention of doing crap like this in the manual. I read the manual, hoping there was a super jump I was missing perhaps. No. Then I got as far as 2-1 before the impossible part. Timing and jumping on a thing that bounces up and down beside a ledge at the end of a hole? Really? And the
Well, I finally spotted and fixed another bug I found when I thought I had fixed them all. This bug took a lot of time to kill, probably at least a few hours of yelling and screaming at the computer. Lots of times I've done that and thought I'd cancel the whole project because I wasn't able to fix things like I want them to be. All this talk about bugs makes me think it'd be neat to have a bug as an enemy. So I'm going to do away with the one I created that looks like a goomba and make a new bug
So I got the Xenophobe cartridge in the mail today. Turns out it's not NTSC, but another PAL one. Why can't people test these things out or have ANY knowledge of what they're selling before they list stuff on eBay? It was listed as tested and working. Turns out on my old TV to be tested, working, and rolling. So I sent the guy a message, we'll have to wait and see if he responds. WHY CAN'T I GET AN NTSC XENOPHOBE?! Also, my stupid Celery game isn't working again. I tried to put code in to make i
Mom has decided she can't care for the dog like she should because she works all day. I don't have the stamina or energy to keep an eye on the dog because she keeps walking around and won't do anything I say. She just keeps walking around the house and won't lay down. I guess because she laid down all night, but I just can't keep an eye on her for much longer. Lucky for me, Mom's leaving work and coming home at noon to take the dog back to the humane society. Lucky for the dog, she has a second
It's never too early to think about what game you want to make next. And for the Odyssey 2, I would like to "port," and I use the term loosely, "Garfield" from the 2600 to the Odyssey 2. I began work on a simple fence in the Odyssey 2. Some colors are to be changed. The fence is yellow (read: brown), the cat will be black. I would like the dog in there following the cat's movement at the bottom, but he won't do anything except follow the cat. So here's what I'm planning: cat - sprite 0. Dog - sp
I propose that it wasn't that the game.com had a blurry black and white display. Nintendo's Game Boy had one in 1989 and quickly gained success not because of its black-and-white display on a puke green background. No, it became a success because it had lots of great games. Starting with the great game Tetris. (and, to a lesser extent, Super Mario Land). What is the game.com's killer app? That's right. There wasn't one. And there were only 20 games made during the 2 years it failed. Even the Ata
I want someone to make a homebrew game.com game. I can only take the few games there are for so long. I think Explosive Diarrhea would make a good game.com game. It only has one screen and good character movement (as opposed to Sonic which looks horrible). I wonder when the first game.com homebrew will be. If homebrews can be successful for the Odyssey 2, then why not the game.com? Is it because it's supposedly a horrible portable game console? Well, the only reason it is is because Tiger tried
So I figured out the problem with the newest version of Stickman I was having with help. As it turned out, I was trying to make the computer do too much code, so the score wasn't showing up at the top. I spent all night last night on it. I finally gave up at 4am and went to bed. I woke up at 11:30am and promptly went back to work on it. At 7pm, I finally got the latest version up on the Stickman website. Now, I wasn't working non-stop for 7 and a half hours on it. That would be crazy. But I did
Well, Mom took the dog to the vet on Monday. The dog's ear seemed good, but then the hematoma grew back again. Last night while I was asleep, Mom told me the dog broke the hematoma and proceeded to bleed on her cone. That was quite lovely (not!) The big bump came back again. I don't know what's going to happen now. She has another vet appointment on Monday. And after a longer than usual hiatus, I decided to tackle 2600 assembly again. I guess I get so frustrated that I say I quit and then I don'
I've decided I'm taking the Channel F back to whence it came. The evil nonworking thing must be banished. Well, those two games I got in the mail came today and, no surprise, they don't work as well as I had hoped it to do. I was hoping it would like those games, but Blackjack didn't even work at all, it just got the Pong screen. Maybe I can still get that Sega CD that's there for the same price about. But perhaps this is to teach me a lesson of not buying expensive semi-working video game cons
So I got two Colecovision games in the mail today. I didn't want to hook up my Colecovision, but I did it to test them. I couldn't control the airplane in Looping, and I only got to stage four in Gorf. I had been working on the fruit fly game. I doubt I'll call it "Bananas are Good" any more unless someone can produce a banana screen in asm and put it in my bB game somehow. My dumb new computer is bothering me about wanting me to do stuff to it. I long for the good old days of Windows 95 when co
Well, tomorrow is my least favorite day. The dreaded April Fool's Day is tomorrow. People everywhere making idiots of themselves in an attempt to fool people. It is they who are the fools. I got Giana Sisters DS at the store for $24. It's probably what I would have paid on the internet if you factor in shipping. I don't know why, but sites like the Goat Store tend to exaggerate the shipping prices. Does it really cost about $6 to mail two Odyssey 2 games? Haven't had a chance to play it yet. Thi
So I decided to try and test Bubba's Buck Blastin' on a real ActionMax console. And in doing so, I have come to two conclusions: 1. The gun on my ActionMax doesn't work right. 2. My X-Box 360 is a piece of crap. I have got the sensor to light up for hits sometimes. While other times, I point the gun straight on top of the TV and press fire and nothing happens (well, "nothing" in the ActionMax sense, it plays a ricochet sound after you fire the gun). I tried an ActionMax tape because I wasn't sur
So I have decided to scale back the box since I want to save all my colored ink (which costs a lot.) So Bubba's box will be black and white. But never fear, it will come in a great, nifty DVD box. And if I ever run out of them and as long as the store where I can get 10 for $1 stays open, it won't be an issue. I have decided to ditch my X-Box 360 and sell it to the local game store, and in its place get a cheap DVD player. I wonder how much VHS-to-DVD recorders cost nowadays. I have a ton of old
