Flies on Odyssey² (August 20, 2023)

I added some stuff since a few days ago. I had to go to sleep with a broken game. I was asleep all day yesterday because I'm trying to change my life around so I'm awake all day and asleep all night like a normal person. My ultrasound is tomorrow at 7 a.m. so I can't eat anything past 11 p.m. tonight. Anyway, here are the changes I implemented. I fixed the scoring issue I was having (although I don't know how.) I have been working on this game since yesterday. I made a game like this with the 50-foot-tall stalk of celery, but I wanted to make a better one with more flies. I plan to put in three flies that move around the screen. The fly appears randomly on the screen but I just thought of something: It can't be that way for the bees or hornets. A title is required, but I don't have one.

So I was having some trouble with the mouth in the game. It kept flickering when it went from death back to the in-game. I had to work on this for several hours, trying various things to make it not do that, and I think I succeeded here.   I also made it so it's okay if you don't eat the burger. So I'm looking at the title screen of my Game Gear game I have been making. Which looks okay, but my name isn't very noticeable. So I decided to change the title screen. Stupid daytime.

I woke up at 6 p.m.  After about 15 hours of sleep. I don't want to sleep that much. But if I didn't need that much, wouldn't I wake up sooner and, better yet, not feel sleepy when I do? It's Sunday once more.

It just turned Sunday about 30 minutes ago. I think the hardest part of my ultrasound will be the required fasting for it. I don't know how long I'm supposed to. Well, the good news is I don't have diabetes. The bad news is I have to get an ultrasound next week to see if I have fatty liver.   I swear, the lab techs had to poke me at least 5 times to get any blood out of me. And they had to get a lot out of me for my ultrasound next week apparently. It hurt quite a lot, but I guess I should be glad that ultrasounds don't hurt. Level 42

Two more days of wondering what could be wrong with me. In the midst of all that, I decided to work on Ugly, Uppity Umpire again. When I get angry or worried my eye starts hurting. My blog entry I wrote got flagged for content so I'll start over again.   So apparently my dumb doctor wants to see me about my blood test results. Work resumes on SGWP2. I thought I was done for the day but I got bored again and put in a 6-digit score. It works fine but it uses 6 variables. I don't think I'll run out of variables, though. But it is a lot better than using one 16-bit variable and then having the score run out if the player reaches 65,535 points. So this morning I took @Tanooki 's advice and made the guy walk the way he's facing. Took up all of my waking hours and more to get it working good. Found a few bugs that I think I fixed.     The majority of the trouble came with attempting to use sprite_prop to flip the sprites. I had to give up on Legend of Helga since I think it was too ambitious a project for me. So I went back to working on Ugly Uppity Umpire. As the levels get created, the more difficult it is to make new ones. I have 13 more to make before I get 50 (level 37 is already designed). If I think I can do it, I may make 56, which can be divided by 8 evenly to make things good and round them off. But I don't know. I got bored. I wanted to work on some Game Boy programming, but I didn't want to work on Ugly Uppity Umpire. So I made this. I don't know whether or not to turn it into a full-fledged game or not. Level 35

Here is level 35 of Ugly Uppity Umpire for Game Boy. The ghost chases you and the underwear moves from left to right at the bottom. I added in the underwear as I thought the level was too easy, especially without it. As you can see, I darkened the wood. I did this so it's easier to see the ghosts. So I will put level 36 in banks 2 and 3 and then start with the bank 4 unifying thing. This was because my code in bank 0 to get data info had it so the temporary level was temp=level/12. 36

So for the third time I tried to submit Frank the Fruit Fly to Incube8 Games. Well apparently the third time is the charm because shortly after my third attempt, I got an e-mail from them saying the form went through. I could have sworn I submitted my idea twice before. I clicked that submit button but nothing happened. So now what I need to do now is wait for a response. I don't have my hopes up. In fact, I'd be pleasantly surprised if they decided to publish it, but I doubt they will. Which is

Bread and butter

I've decided to continue making my Game Boy game I've been working on for about 9 months now. I guess I work on stuff really slowly because today I completed level 34. That may seem impressive, but not really since it's a Chip's-Challenge-type game. Since this isn't really a particularly hard game to make (all the "hard" stuff has been completed for the most part), I've decided to make one level per day. I'm sick of making scanlines steady

I'm going to stop making games for the Atari 2600. Reason: Jitteriness. I try and try to make the scanline steady but eventually it drops to 261 or goes up to 263, I played the stupid Fly game for 15 minutes, thought it was going good, until the scanline went up to 263.
