Got Another Xbox Game Today

I received my first Xbox game in awhile today...probably the first one I've bought this year and maybe in a couple of years as I can't even remember the last one I got. I thought I had all 3 of the Call of Duty games that came out on the system but checking recently, I find I was mistaken...I had just the second and third so I ordered and today received the first of the series, Call of Duty: Finest Hour. This is part of the Xbox's Platinum Hits line which would annoy some people (and really bo

Return to Castle Wolfenstein (Plus Another Arrival

I hadn't been playing many games lately so last night I played the PS2 version of Return to Castle Wolfenstein for the first time. This one is subtitled "Operation Resurrection". I haven't got to any of the really weird stuff. I know some sites and magazines didn't care for it...Gamespot even rated it as "Poor", but I kind of liked it myself. Maybe later, when it gets really weird, I won't care for it but for now I'm enjoying it. It's certainly nowhere near as weird as Wolfenstein 3D was...

Final Update On "My Game Is Missing!"

I wrote an entry on October 31, stating that I had ordered the GameCube title Fight Night: Round 2. The problem came when my package arrived...I opened the case, found the manual...but no game disc. I e-mailed the seller who said to give her a few days to look into it. I still hadn't heard back from her by yesterday morning so I e-mailed her again. Shortly after that, I got an e-mail from Amazon.com, stating they were refunding my purchase price (this was bought through their Marketplace pro

Yet Another PS2 Arrival

A day after receiving LEGO Batman, I received the FPS game Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Operation Resurrection. I know this hasn't gotten very good reviews but at under $8.00, I figure I'm not taking too much of a loss if I hate it. The last couple of days I'd been playing some Duke Nukem 3D on the Saturn so I'm definitely in the mood for some 1st person shooting. I still have a couple games coming which are also FPS games: Red Faction (the first one) for the PS2 and the first Call of Duty o

New PS2 Arrival Today

I got a video game today in the mail...that was a bit surprising because I didn't think the mail would run on Election Day here in the U.S. but I guess I was wrong. The game I got is for the Playstation 2 and i t is LEGO Batman. I have one other of the LEGO games...LEGO Star Wars for the original Xbox but I never played it that much. I kind of got stuck early and it's for the second trilogy (but the one that takes place first...I know, I get confused, too). I never even saw the 2nd and 3rd f

Cutting Down On My Game Systems

Regarding video games (and DVDs and audio CDs), I just have way too much stuff. Now I'm thinking of not only weeding out the lesser games but possibly also throwing out some complete systems (and, of course, the game libraries that go with those). Some would say I'm crazy and that I'll miss those systems. But in the last year, I've given away both my Atari 2600 and Sega Genesis systems and I don't miss them one bit. So I feel I can throw out a couple more systems I've never been into all that mu

My Game Is Missing!

Today I got a package...it was supposed to be the GameCube edition of Fight Night: Round 2 that I had ordered through Amazon.com using their Marketplace program (3rd party sellers). So I open the package, take the case out, open it and...no game disc! I'd been anticipating playing this so obviously I was a bit miffed. I quickly sent off an e-mail to the seller asking about it...but since I had no new (okay, newly acquired) game to play, I decided to head off to Wal-Mart and pick up a game fro

I Ordered 3 PS2 Games Today

Once I had about 45 games for the PlayStation 2...then I gave away most of them. At the time I thought I had indeed given all of them away but then I found a couple I'd misplaced and I got one as a Christmas gift last year...and then started buying them again and am now back up to 29 games for the system. Today, I wound up ordering the following trio of games...   1. LEGO Batman 2. Red Faction 3. Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Operation Resurrection   I bought LEGO Batman because it looks

Black

Today I continued my ongoing project of playing all my games or at least as money of them as I can find...I really need to come up with a name for this project...Roger's Play 'Em All Project? Nah, I don't think so...   5. Black (EA)   I'm not sure when this came out...I have a Greatest Hits edition and got mine last Christmas but today was the first time I actually got around to putting it in my machine. It's a modern warfare game (I think I heard Iran mentiioned in the live action opening

More PS2 Baseball

I am continuing to play through my PS2 games and thought I'd go ahead and play my other 2 baseball titles yesterday...   3. MVP 07 NCAA Baseball 4. MLB 08: The Show   Regarding the first, I'm not sure if the title is supposed to be MVP 07 NCAA Baseball as that's how it is on the front cover (and on the disc) or if it's supposed to be MVP NCAA Baseball 07 as that's how it is on the spine of the case. Since it's also the former on the instructiion manual, that's 3 of 4 places it has that tit

Playing Through My Games Begins: MLB Power Pros

Introductiion--I recently ordered a GameCube game which will give me 151 games...I figured I needed to play through my GC games and decide which was the least of that collection so I could let it go...and keep my GC library at 150 titles. I've been thinking it over and have decided this might be the right time to start playing through all my games and write up my thoughts on each. I don't really consider these reviews but just some random thoughts once I've played them. Some games (like today

Well, I Ordered A Cube Game...So Another Must Go!

One of the gaming boards I visit has been having a fun thread about a GameCube game titled "Final Fight: Round 2". It turns out that the GameCube version of this title has the SNES edition of "Super Punch-Out!" in it so people have been posting new covers for the game with the Super Punch-Out characters as the cover models. I love Super Punch-Out! and it is, in fact, one of my favorite games on the system. So, after thinking about it for several days, I decided to get it and found it online

Planning A Videogame Want List For Christmas

I might actually get a video game for Christmas this year...maybe a couple. My nephew, a big gamer, has indicated he might want to get me a game for Christmas...and I could take part in a Secret Santa gift exchange. I've done that in the past at a gaming board...though I'm not sure we'll have one this year. If we do, I want to be ready. In the past, I've wracked my brain trying to think of games I'd like but this year I'm doing it a bit differently. I've gone to GameRankings.com and made up

Should I Come On Down?

Awhile back, I read that they were going to do some video games based on The Price Is Right...I'm kind of surprised they never did them before. At any rate, I understand they are out now...there's a version for the Wii, one for the DS and a version for the PC and Mac. I don't own a Wii, so I won't be getting that so I might consider getting one for either the PC or the Nintendo DS. I need to research this...and I know many games based on TV game shows, at least recently, have been rather lack

Playing More PS1 Games

I played three more PS1 games yesterday. After playing Hot Shots Golf Fore!, Hot Shots Golf 3 and Hot Shots Golf 2 (in that order), I finally got around to playing a Vs. game in the original Hot shots Golf. I did prefer the graphics in it to Hot Shots Golf 2. They changed the look of the characters, it seems to me. In the first game, they are big-headed short people but are taller and lankier (well, some of them) in Hot Shots Golf 2. I then played a pair of baseball titles. I played one ai

More Golfing

I have continued to play my golf video games. Over the weekend, I had my first session of Hot Shots Golf 3...I had actually been playing the follow-up (Hot Shots Golf Fore!) first so playing HS3 was definitely like taking a step back. The game had some of the same players in it to use, but the game just didn't seem as polished as the latter game. I will probably return to Hot Shots Golf Fore! at least until I can unlock all the players and courses...then, perhaps, I will eventually return to

I Never Play Golf...Except In My Living Room

I have never set foot on an actual golf course...I've never even played miniature golf...well, maybe once at a shopping mall. But I do like some golf video games. I guess my interests in types of games changes with my moods from time to time. Lately, I've been into golfing video games. I was playing Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour on the GameCube a fair amount earlier this year and lately I've been picking up a few golf games for the PS2. About a week ago, I got Hot Shots Golf 3 and Hot Shots Go

My PS2 Gaming Library

A lot of people like to ask others what system they have the most for (for me it's either the PS1 or the SNES as I have about 200 games for both) but I thought I'd mention the system I have the fewest number of games for. For me, it's the PlayStation 2 though this will change by the end of the week. This is because my PS2 library is my smallest by a single game and I have an order coming with 2 games in it (the two Hot Shots game for the system). When they arrive, the PS2 will move up and my

A Few More PS2 Purchases

I went out yesterday in search of a specific PS2 title I've heard about...but did not find it. Instead, I settled for buying a second PS2 memory card and one other game, Ratchet: Unlocked. I think that the only Ratchet & Clank title I'll need after the previously ordered titles come in will be the one subtitled "Size Matters". Maybe I'll order that one next.   When I got back home, I got online and ordered two other titles including the one that I had been looking for at the store, SN

Just Ordered A Handful of Games

I have lately been getting more into playing my PS2 system, which is interesting because at one point I thought I had given up on the system and had given away what I thought were all my games for it. Later I found out I still had about 3 games I had temporarily misplaced for it, got one for Christmas and had bought some others so my game library for it has swelled back up to 11 titles for it. Today I decided to order a few m ore titles so I headed to a favorite online buying site and have now

PS2: Baseball And Other Updates

Last year I thought I was done with the PS2, so much so that I put what I thought were all my games for the system and let my sister-in-law give them away to a nephew of hers. Then I came across one game I missed including...then another...then I found a third that was actually inside my PS2. I couldn't find the case for it so I must've included the case and manual for that game (Rumble Roses) among the games I gave away so now I only have the game disc itself. Maybe I'll stop up at Gamestop

Finishing Up My GC Collection This Month

As 2008 began, I had 141 games in my GameCube library. Though I did manage to get 200 games each for my Super Nintendo and Playstation collections, I don't plan to get that many for the GameCube. I'm frankly not sure I could find another 50 games that interest me so I've decided to stop collecting for the Cube once I get my 150th game. I've now ordered 9 games by mail and I expect them all to arrive by the end of next week...thus calling a halt to my GameCube collecting. Then I can stop buyi

I Found The Rest of My GameCube Collection

I have a half-closet that I use to store most of my video games and consoles and I went through it yesterday in search of some games to give in my Secret Santa exchange. I was looking for some other things, too. I didn't find everything I was looking for but I did manage to find some games I had misplaced, 5 titles for my GameCube collection. These included All-Star Baseball 2003 and 2004, MVP Baseball 2004, Namco Museum: 50th Anniversary and The Sims 2. Once I rearrange these into my GC lib

Preparing To Be Secret Santa...

Almost every year, a message board I go to sponsors a Secret Santa gift exchange. We're all videogamers there so that's what gets exchanged. People have always been encouraged to give things from their own collections...that way, we don't have to spend a lot of money and the person we are matched with can still get several games. I have separated 5 games from my collection I will be sending to my victim...er, recipient...and they're all on his want list so I am sure he will enjoy them. I mig

Picking Up Some New GC Titles...

I've not bought any GameCube games for awhile. That's partly because I've not felt like playing too much recently but also because, since I already have over a hundred titles for the system, I didn't think there were many games left for the system that really interested me. But I have now purchased a handful of games.   My nephew and his wife lent me Mario Party 7...I have Mario Party 4 & 6 for the Cube and enjoy those and found I really liked #7 as well. I got on the internet and track
