Quick extract 0.5. I'll call it a public beta..

So here's the next version of quick extract. After some complaints about the distribution method this zip file has all the files you'll ever need. Just replace everything and it will work. What's new?   1. It now supports bz2 and tar.bz2 files. 2. Fixed bugs at tar.gz handling, it didn't work as it should but it will now. Hopefully any problems will be found by the users this time. The shortened version tbz isn't supported... i found no need but if you want it added just give me a shout, or

QEXTRACT 0.4

Version 0.4 of QEXTRACT. Some minor improvements in tar.gz handling and full source code included under the WTFPL version 2.   I should have mentioned that you need the files from the ARC folder in version 0.3. This is an update.

Outline worms

Back in Outline 08 my good friend beetle (whom you all know by his moto: Have you modded atari today?), showed me on his laptop a BASIC program that an Amstrad CPC scener had written on his laptop (yeah, I mean THAT laptop). So I took over the task to port it to the ST GFA BASIC. Most of the work was done on site but today I revisited it. Beetle wants it to become a screen saver, but since I don't really know how to do that yet, here is worms vs 0.5. Enjoy.   Music replay routine by gwEm/phf,

Outline 09

It's been a day since Outline 09 ended and I already miss it. The organisers did a great job there and I'd like to thank all of them for the great time we had there. It was great! I've attached some pictures I took in this blog so take a sneak peek at how great it was to be there!

Outline 08

Just came back from Outline 08 the super Atari and not only party! It was a great experience and I am so looking forward to attending next year. Havoc, earx and the rest of the s Dutch f don't even think of not holding that. I really enjoyed meeting and talking with the people there. Maybe I can visit another party this year? Here are some crappy cell phone pics.

New stuff coming my way!

Here's a few things I am getting from a very well known Atari ST scener. It was a pleasure doing business with him Some of the very best atari st/falcon software .

New old PC

My most recent find is a 486/40Mhz Dos, PC I got for free. It has a 250Mb HD a CDROM and two floppies. A 3.5" 1.44 floppy marked as drive B and 5.25" one marked drive A. Oh and a sound blaster 16bit sound card. Upon opening it up I was surprised to see it had virtually no dust inside. Unfortunately it has limited RAM memory, 3.7 MB's, I would need to upgrade it. It will eventually end up being used for wireless access but till that happens I am pondering on the possible uses for it, especially f

New Lowres

Highlights of this issue include: -A mini interview with Curt Vendel about the early days of the ST -An interview with Rygar about Lynx and it's 20 years -E-Jagfest, Xzentrix, Sundown and Alternative party reports-An interview with ggn of D-Bug about HD patches. So go and read it herehttp://lowresmag.wo

Netus Bee

Looks like that Stimpy has perfected his NetusBee adaptor, an ethernet and usb adapter for any Atari with a cartridge port. In his web site you can find a video of usb in action. If I understood correctly his adapter is/will be priced at 60 pounds or 90 euros. Also I believe that Coda is working on usb drivers for various devices. I suggest that you contact Stimpy first before you press the "add to basket" button. Now all I have to do is collect some money and all my internet connection problems

MyAES

Hello, Time for another update and a new adventure . I managed to run MyAES today and I can say that the aesthetics of this software is on a very high level. It makes for an interesting and beautiful working environment for every falcon, Aranym or any Atari capable of 8it colour depth. As you might know, I am running easymint so to run MyAES requires a lot of tweaking. Personally, I like dual boot (triple if you count single TOS) systems so I didn't change anything in the MiNT.cnf file but laun

My MegaSTE

In OL08 I got a MegaSTE. And at home I made a composite cable for it. This is it:

My Falcon's environment

What do you thing of it? For some strange reason the snapshot program displays this in the screen and I do not know how to avoid it. Maybe start a console to capture it? MiNT + XaAES + Teradesk + Taskbar + Toswin2 + Clocky +fracIRC. Oh and please don't comment on the time and date. It' s just a matter of a dead RTC.

MP3 replay on the falcon. Video

This is not a game so a new post. I used Didier Mequignon's Aniplayer and a tune kindly donated by 505 and I placed it on youtube. This is the . 128Kbps Joint Stereo MP3.

Mega STE tweaking.

As I said on my previous post, I got a Mega STE from my good friend Beetle whom I met at Outline 08. As one would expect the Mega STE is in top form. I'll add pictures in my gallery (heh, I just found about this feature ). Now, I need to install the necessary software so that the machine becomes at it's best. Let's say a few things about it and compare it to the falcon. The MegaSTE is pretty fast, sometimes more so than the falcon. BUT it can only take up to 4 MB's of RAM. So, mirroring my

Low Res Magazine.

What happens when two Germans and a Greek meet in Dusseldorf (where the Germans pick up the Greek to get him to Outline in the Netherlands)? Well the idea of a new web 2.0 magazine is born. The Low Res Magazine, hosted on wordpress and visited over 1000 times since its publication 3 days ago.   It was a warm sunny day, the last one of a summer that had caused so much pain but somehow managed to fill our hearts with hope. In that spirit the team had joined IRC. We had the articles, we had the

Low Res Mag issue #4

As I promised some time ago, we have released the issue 4 of our free web based magazine. This time it features a lot of event reports, the unveilling of our new logo by Greyfox (whom we'd like to thank once again) and the usual view on the atari st scene and community. Also work has started on our 5th issue with some surprises. Hopefully I'll be able to let some of them sneak in as they are being completed. As usual I should say what I have written, because this is a personal blog after all!

Low Res issue 3 has been released.

Phew, after a 2 week delay we managed to pull another issue. As usual this webzine features a lot of demoscene content but also non sceners will find it interesting. It's hard to find highlights in this issue but let me tell you what I've done (yes I am lazy)   JagCF. Zerosquare and SCPCD talk to us about it. Reboot. They explain their philosophy, their views on the jaguar and their plans to support the 16/32 machines. Gemworld. What's new in applications and stuff for your Atari ST/TT/Fal

Low Res and other things

So, I guess you've all read (or haven't) the last issue of lowres. However the webzine isn't without its problems. First of all this blog suffered. Everything I might want to write here can be put there too. So how do I manage those two efforts? Secondly there's the problem that we want to extend the magazine to other non atari platforms, or even to atari platforms we know nothing about. Ny VCS knowledge for example is left somewhere in 1988 when I played Moon patrol and a couple of other games

It's been a while

It's been a while since I've updated this blog. Reasons? The usual . In the news, STOT is going rather well, I am getting a bit better coding but today the courier came!   After some delay I got the new stuff of the previous blog entry. What was in there? 22Kgrs of Atari things. The seller also included a lot of Atari 8 bit stuff free of charge. Thank you CyranoJ! So here's a list of what I got (Disclaimer: there's a lot of reading to do!)   ST software: Straight Fax 2.0 Diamond Bac

Got a jagpad

Today I received a jagpad from http://www.atari-shop.nl/. The pad arrived very well packaged and it's in perfect working order. Many thanks to Sandra for the excellent communication as well. Now on the jagpad. It's not the worse controller I've ever seen but it's definitely not the best. I'll place it in the average. But it gave me the chance to play painium disaster for the first time and I can tell you it's a really good shooter but hard. Also played zero 5 with it. Great improvement over
