I haven't updated this for a long time. However my atari addiction hasn't subsided a bit. I just didn't have anything interesting to say.. Now I do.
So here are 4 things to expect for this Xmas season...
1. Economic crisis getting worse
2. D-Bug
3. There are some rumours about a couple of demos to be released by the end of the next month.
4. My own pet project for desktop Atari users (yes there are a few, I think).
My good friend kRadD has done it this time. The new STOT website is up at http://www.npoi.de/page.php?2 . Bookmark it and enjoy the content. Also not to let it slip by, this is your last chance to participate in STOT season 1. The final game is on and it's the Bitmap Bros classic Xenon II.
Hi,
Regular readers will know about STOT. After Outline 08 we started a series of 3 newly released games for the Atari ST line of computers. The three games are Dma-Sc's Manical Drop, Sh3-rg's Sudokunivers and now is concluded with Piccrosst. Read more about them at the official STOT forum over at atari-forum.com. Link:

Here is a new blog series I am going to start. I'll be presenting software, applications and utilities mostly, that I use (new stuff in most occasions). It's going to be just a teaser hopefully something that will get people trying the stuff.
So here are the two first:
Highwire:
Highwire is an open source and pretty fast browser that is:
HTML 4 compliant
Supports tables, Framesets, caches for images etc.
Has CSS support.
Among others
Here are two videos showing it off.
Once upon a time in a tiny little country called Greece an Atari magazine was born, by Atari users (some of them employees of Atari.gr) but nonetheless Atari enthusiasts. Here you can find a scan of a falcon test... most of you can't read greek but that shouldn't be a problem... should it?
Oh... the quality of the scans is.. hmmm.. bad... Maybe if I am not bored later on I will rescan them.
Just came back from Outline 08 the super Atari and not only party! It was a great experience and I am so looking forward to attending next year. Havoc, earx and the rest of the s Dutch f don't even think of not holding that. I really enjoyed meeting and talking with the people there. Maybe I can visit another party this year? Here are some crappy cell phone pics.
Yeah, not much of an update. I've mostly spent my atari time taking care of my new hard disk and adding a few stuff on it. Take a look at my new desktop.. WIP
As a STOT organiser I am very pleased to tell you that we got our first exclusive. Pairs by Paradize! Thanks a lot guys for this STOT exclusive release!
Don't forget to join STOT and enjoy the game!
Today I received a jagpad from http://www.atari-shop.nl/. The pad arrived very well packaged and it's in perfect working order. Many thanks to Sandra for the excellent communication as well.
Now on the jagpad. It's not the worse controller I've ever seen but it's definitely not the best. I'll place it in the average. But it gave me the chance to play painium disaster for the first time and I can tell you it's a really good shooter but hard. Also played zero 5 with it. Great improvement over
Here is a new version of a null modem TCP/IP connection between the atari and a PC this time
with the use of the STING stack. I don't see a reason why it wouldn't work with an ST or Mega
STE but as usual some things are beyond us.I only have a falcon to test.
Setting up the Atari:
First it is imperative to install and install properly the HSModem serial port drivers. To do
that we place DRVIN.PRG in the auto folder late in the running order but before the drivers

It's been a while since I've updated this blog. Reasons? The usual . In the news, STOT is going rather well, I am getting a bit better coding but today the courier came!
After some delay I got the new stuff of the previous blog entry. What was in there? 22Kgrs of Atari things. The seller also included a lot of Atari 8 bit stuff free of charge. Thank you CyranoJ!
So here's a list of what I got (Disclaimer: there's a lot of reading to do!)
ST software:
Straight Fax 2.0

Time to start uploading demos. Those of you who happen to know some things about me know I am a big demoscene fan. So here's my first video grab of a Falcon demo:
. Here's it's Pouet page and Paranoia website under reconstruction. As usual other demos I might record in video will appear as comments under this post. Enjoy.
Hello,
As you may already know, a new version of Teradesk was released. You can also find attached the Greek translation for this current version. Please contact me for any problems or comments, complaints etc regarding this translation.
Hello people,
Some of you may wonder (yeah right) why I have been quiet and not updated the blog for some time. There are various reasons, the uni has been taking much of my time and I' ve found myself reading about automobile design in relation to materials selection, Li-ion batteries and superalloys (yes you guessed it when I grow up I will be a materials scientist). However unfortunately that is not the main reason, some things that happened on a personal level have managed to take the fun
When I got my Falcon, a very nice program came with it. System audio manager or SAM for sort. So after being a bit too tired to do anything with my Falcon the past few days, other than watching demos for the relaxing and enjoying effect they have, I toyed today with this little program.
One of it's primary functions, is to assign samples to various operating system's operations, such as opening a window or alert boxes and system errors. So I used a few samples of computers speaking and the res
Zero 5 is one of the last commercial games to hit the ST. It needs an STE to play but it finds it self on a falcon. The game is a 3d space shooter with fast polygon graphics, an interesting scenario (apart from interesting it's also highly original, evil aliens attack earth for no apparent reason) and there are a lot of missions to complete. The game can be played with either a mouse or a jagpad and since I don't have the second, I can only say that it takes a lot of practice to do anything with
Hello,
Time for another update and a new adventure . I managed to run MyAES today and I can say that the aesthetics of this software is on a very high level. It makes for an interesting and beautiful working environment for every falcon, Aranym or any Atari capable of 8it colour depth. As you might know, I am running easymint so to run MyAES requires a lot of tweaking. Personally, I like dual boot (triple if you count single TOS) systems so I didn't change anything in the MiNT.cnf file but laun
When you go back to the days of the Arcades or to the VCS there are a few games that come to mind. Pacman, Defender, Asteroids, Pong. Everyone who makes a game starts from one of these and Falcon coders are no exception. So this is the topic of todays tour into Falcon gaming.
I will start with one of my favourite games, Double Bobble 2000 by Reservoir Gods which is a remake of.. come on! You don't need me to tell you that, do you? It has upgraded true colour graphics and beautiful digital audi
It's time for part 2. I finished the last one with a platformer, time to get to the FPS genre.
And when we speak about Falcon FPS's there is one game that comes to mind. That game is Running. Running is a doom clone that has very few to envy from it. Now you will probably thing I am a difficult person but fps' s make me dizzy and turn my stomach upside down, make me want to run straight to the bathroom, you know that short of thing. But either way I had to try Running no matter what. so I loade
Time for a blog update!
Contrary to popular belief, the Falcon has a small library of more than 100 games. Most of them were originally released as shareware or freeware but there are some commercial ones. In this first post about falcon gaming I will write a small list and a few comments about the commercial games I' ve played. For screenshots and descriptions I will refer you to tof's excellent site.
Not surprisingly Atari was the first to fund or release games for the falcon. These include:
I spent this morning watching a few demos for my favourite machine and although this topic has been covered extensively in the scene related websites and publications (diskmags, online even in print) such as the DHS website or the Alive Atari scene diskmag, I thought I should write a few words too, from a personal viewpoint. If you don't know what is a demo take a look here.
My first contact with the demoscene was when I got my Falcon. Among with the software I got with came three demos. One w
Just a small list of things I want and I can somewhat afford. A realistic wish list you could say
I want an fpu. A 68882 PLCC capable of operating at 25MHz. I found a 16Mhz one for 8.90 Euros. It is supposed to work up to 33Mhz so I guess it will work.
PhantomS. PhantomS is an overclocking accelerator for the falcon030 speeding everything to 25Mhz. And when I say everything, I mean the CPU, Bus, Videl etc providing a serious speed increase. It costs 35 Euros and also provides a clockpatch. I'
