So I was cruising along, getting material for this blog, (and I will admit, gearing up for the new Space Patrol blog) when I realized... oops, Bubsy's birthday was on May 4th!
HAPPY 22nd Birthday to our favorite Bobcat game mascot!
In the future when people are going around saying "May the 4th be with you" for all those Star Wars fans that is actually the release date of Bubsy too. Should be easy enough to remember.
So Bubsy and birthday material? Well found the previous birthday
The Bubsy Plush Sightings
(Started July 5, 2019, updated September 4, 2021)
Currently we know through the interwebs there are a grand total of ten known Bubsy plushes from back in Bubsy 1 and Bubsy 2 development days that still exist. We're sure there are more. JennyN (mentioned later in this article) and her father, who worked for Accolade during the Bubsy 2 development, mentioned there was once a drawer full of Bubsy plushies at Accolade. These plushes were handed out to d
Hello fellow Bubsy fans!! I would like to thank you for stopping in, and the artists and links who I am about to advertise and give honorable mention to at this point.
Every so often I like to scour the internet for Bubsy pictures, and mirror them here on the Bubsy Bobcat Fan Blog. Some pictures and original links have already vanished from the internet, so at this time I will feature some great treasures that I was able to come across.
Not a great mention of Bubsy,
This year Bubsy (in May) will be one year away from the legal drinking age.
You know I am amazed on what will be the 20th anniversary of Bubsy that there is still material to talk about, but amazingly there is. Developers have come forward, artists, and fans. To matter the fact I am always getting beaten out of bids on ebay for Bubsy memorabilia. I mean I have some fairly deep pockets, but some out there are just crazier than I am.
Most of the time I hear from peopl
There is a new Bubsy in town, or so one site would have us believe. I call it "The NEW ADVENTURES OF BETSY", since the site we are talking about has Bubsy in a transgender angle. I say the site is not actually about Bubsy himself, but we'll get to that in a bit. In the meantime, here is the title image of our feature site! Now throughout time we have seen many versions of Bubsy. As fans we have seen many ongoing stories of Bubsy from Pixel Chat, to Bubsy Returns, to the very creative B
Hey there Bubsters, how have things been as of late? I've been conversing with a few Bubsy fans since the last entry.
First off there was my original inspiration for looking at Bubsy beyond the Jaguar, BluieBerrySoda from the original Bubsy HQ. I caught up with her on chat one day and I was telling her all the various versions of Bubsy I'd found. BTW, here is what the collection is currently looking like:
Ain't that a beauty? The recent additions since the last picture is the Austra
Well, let's face it, Bubsy Bobcat is based off a fairly generic designed of a animorphic cat that walks on two legs, wears a shirt with no pants, and all that. So naturally there will be similarities with other cartoon characters right?
Soooo.... with that out of the way, I FOUND BUBSY REBORN!!
Yeh, I was doing a search for "Japan Bubsy" and this picture showed up...
And I was all "HOLY COWBOOGERS!! Bubsy in a Mario outfit!!"
Well apparently someone else thought the sam
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BUBSY!!
Raise a glass for the Bubster. Next year he will be old enough to raise his own glass or pint.
Epilogue: July 8, 2019
The above Bubsy and beer picture, something Doctor Clu of the Bubsy Fan Blog photoshopped for this entry, has been featured in other places since when talking about the Bubster:

With the arrival of Super Bubsy last night, I feel my Bubsy Bobcat collection is basically complete...
As you can see, I've picked up where he has shown up on the covers of magazines, I have the playing guides... (isn't it great that God gives life so we can blow on stuff like this...LOL!)
I have all the Bubsy games across the platforms...
Bubsy (1) -Genesis, SNES/Super Famicon, PC (Super Bubsy)
Bubsy (2) - Genesis, SNES, Gameboy
Bubsy (3) - Jaguar
Bubsy 3D - Playstation
The Bubsy games contained little comics in them that have inspired hundreds of drawings of fan art. We had a request from Sponge Fox who was nice enough to let us feature some of her art here, so I figured I would get this posted so we all could enjoy yet another bit of the Bubster.
Here is the comic book from the first Bubsy game:

I was watching Youtube this morning and found an interesting review. What caught my eye was the animation of Bubsy where the reviewer was talking to Bubsy at the beginning of the review and they would have Bubsy shake his head yes or no to responses and have the eyes looking around. I thought that alone was interesting. But when they broke into the game itself, I thought to myself "Ok, did they animate Bubsy 3D for this review?"
You can watch the movie here:
It was a review for
So SpongeFox tells me the Bubsy blog needs a new entry, and it has been about four months since the last time, and now it is almost April. So let's cruise and find what people are thinking of Bubsy...
First off, here is a interesting 3d model of Bubsy.
Can always count on the deviant arts for the Bubster....
Another hobby of mine is the Fiero car by Pontiac and they would have these license plate frames for when the car survived the first 100,000 miles known as the "100,000 Mile Club". And I remember when my car entered the "200,000 Mile Club"
The Bubsy blog started sometime in June 8, 2008 is now entering the ...
100,000 Visits Club.
Now at this time I have made 87 entries, and maybe read over my blog entries after posted. So say I read each blog four times each, that is 387 times I
Tonight I was talking to another Bubsy fan and as we were talking he said "By the way, I know it's old news, but did you hear that Bubsy's creator, Mike Berlyn is currently battling cancer? Really horrible to hear. Mike created many fine games in his day. I've been meaning to read his books, too."
Actually I did not know that. I have searched around the internet tonight to see how Mike is coming along. The last bit of news was in June of this year. There was a GoFundMe campaign, but that
In my surfing through the internet to find new Bubsy material, I found a website to an artist that actually created art work for the Bubsy games. In this case, it was Adrian Bourne who created some of the villians for Bubsy 2. I talked to him a bit, and then asked if we could feature his work here and a link back to his art site. I was delighted when he wrote back...
"This all sounds cool to me. I've got more Bubsy art stored in boxes here and there. I'll see about scanning some and throwing up
If you look on eBay right now at...
You will see a that sarasaland-dragon169 in the UK has created a Bubsy plush that looks like it was a based the way Bubsy looked in Bubsy 3D.
All and all I think the plushee has good detail and definitely looks like Bubsy. Well done Sarasaland-Dragon169!
First off, hope you had a great Christmas and Happy New Year.
I can think of no better present than playing a game of Bubsy with a Lara Croft version of Bubsy. A friend of mine when playing Legacy said he liked to play female characters. The reason why was if he had to play the game for hours on end he wanted to look at the back of a woman rather than a dude. I totally get that.
So here we get to see the scenery of Bubsy 3D improved greatly with the Bubsy going from a Bobcat to a hot
About a week ago I showed the first picture of the Portable Hole that was a promotional frisbee toy at the release of Bubsy II. It arrived and I carried it in my bag to work just in case I needed it to jump out of a jam. Luckily the portable hole was not needed. But who am I to hog such a magnificent piece of swag? Here it is...
The Hole comes in a Bubsy 2 bag, which looks much like this...
And comes with a manual. Here are some quick pictures of the manual so that you

Was searching around for new Bubsy material, and found a comment on one location...
"Tjah....Bubsy the Bobcat?
Did you know there was a portable hole toy for Bubsy? Neither did I. But then again, the closest thing I have been able to find for a list of Bubsy merchandise is... well... here.
Yes, it would seem that the Bubsy shirt was released for the first Bubsy game, and for the second game they made one of his gimmicks, the Portable Hole. Looks neat. When it arrives at my place I'll try to get some more pictures.
Until then, Keep it Up!
Hey all, we'll go ahead and post this a little early... presenting...
the interview with Michael Berlyn the creator of Bubsy Bobcat!!!
SpongeFox and I had a blast talking to Michael as he talked about a few of his projects from OO Topos his earliest game, projects at Infocom (Infidel, Cutthroats, Fooblitzky, and Suspended) as well as his musical experience "Hot Mustard", and his latest addictive iOS game, Ogg.
And naturally lots and lots of behind the scenes on the creation of Bubs
From Albert (who runs Atariage.com)
I received a note from Mike today,
"As of 9/11/2015, I am cancer free after 7 months of chemo and radiation therapy. Please post this information, and thank you for your kind words and well wishes.
This is too awesome. Mike, glad you are better, you had us worried there for a bit.
What was awesome was SpongeFox also sent me a message about it with a picture. She heard the news
