I have a DSi XL, and I am addicted to downloading homebrew.
Most recently, I started playing around with the DSx86 emulator. I have to admit that I'm shocked at how well it handles games. I've had Day of the Tentacle on my card forever, but ScummVMds desn't play it well. The sound is really unbearable. The DSx86 program runs the sound (vocals and sound effects at least) really well. Despite the bad voice acting, I could listen to it.

This is still one of my most favorite games. I haven't heard very much about it, but I saw this review and pretty much figured that was sort of the general feeling about this one.
Even when I was a kid, this one gave me a bit of that young gamer's depression once I was old enough to shoot at things other than the hot air balloons and trees. So last night I opened my 2600 up. This only occurred to me after having successfully opened up my 5200 controllers to get them working again and not destroying them.
Now I've gotten cocky. When I was a kid, it never would have occurred to me that the Atari could be opened up. My dad was the one who instilled in us the reverence for the thing. He taught us to care for it and how. To save the manuals and all the documentation. The man doesn't kid around. We've got instruction booklets
It's rare but it happens. Sometimes I actually complete games. This actually happens much less than it should, so the list of games completed is probably something I can list off the top of my head. (Though with my memory, maybe not.)
Granted, Mirror's Edge is a short game. Only nine chapters, so really all that's needed is some determination and intent. Plus I played on easy. So really it's not the completing of the game that's the amazing part, it's the fact that I actually played a

We had a friend stay with us over the weekend. We drove up to Santa Clara to pick him up from school stopping at In n Out Burger on the way up (and the way back).
We spent most of the weekend making Jay play Assassin's Creed. The man is not a serious game player; I think it was mostly for our 18 year old friend's amusement. He kept telling Jay where to go and what to do and pissing Jay off quietly.
