Hi there!
So, today I decided to not buy a 7800 and to not collect its games.
After some bad experiences with the Odyssey 2 and the Intellivision, I had decided to check out the entire available PAL library _BEFORE_ buying it this time
Over the past half a year, I then played through the complete library. I joined the HSC for that first, but when it started repeating, I decided to continue at a faster pace on my own.
The idea was simple: If I find 10 enjoyable titles, I'm gonna
Hi there!
Incredible. After seeing bands like Sex Pistols, Front 242, DAF, Softcell, The Sisters of Mercy, Human League, Erasure, Alien Sex Fiend, Kraftwerk, Skinny Puppy, Fields of the Nephilim, Bauhaus, Sigue Sigue Sputnik and others returning to german stages during the past few years, it probably was only a matter of time until this was going to happen.
Everything good will come back some day, so does Nitzer Ebb!
Looking forward to see them once again (after 1995!)

Hi there!
It's been a while since my wife and me have been to a concert. Luckily enough, we managed finding a babysitter, since seeing Nitzer Ebb on their comeback tour is definitely an event I didn't want to miss!
A helluva blast from the past it's been, almost like the millenium never happened. (Un)fortunately I'm old enough to have seen them in their heyday and really, over a decade after their last regular tour, it still was every single bit like I remembered it
The guys were bo

Interplaying Neuromancer (1988):
I remember that back in the day Neuromancer was filed under RPG, but after just spending a first night playing it, I must say it felt much more like an adventure to me. There are a few role playing elements in it, like the upgradeable skill chips and softwarez, but other than that most parts are a lot closer to e.g. Space Quest than The Bard's Tale.
Based on the book from William Gibson, you're taking the role of a computer hacker in C
Hi there!
I need to programm again. I need a project. Something that keeps my mind busy instead of worrying about the future and stuff
And I want to do something for the NES. Again.
Most of my ideas are rather straight ports, but 2 are "more".
C64 Ports: Dino Eggs, Encounter, Park Patrol, Wizball, Mega Apocalypse, Katakis, Project Firestart
Amiga Port: Dungeon Master
Paradroid 2: Fullscreen diagonal scrolling with Paradroid 90 graphics, music and levels.
Last Ninja 3:
Hi there!
The video RAM of the NES is soooo sloooow...
Here's a new version of my particle engine, that will not only move dots within tiles, but also the tiles themselves
It's moving 48 dots at 30Hz. That's only a tiny fraction of what the C64 can do here and what I was aiming at (128 dots / 60Hz ...), but still looking kinda neat

Hi there!
I'm trying to write a NES engine for an action game.
The first thing I wanted it to have is 128 independently moving particles.
And I'm about halfway there, just making a snapshot, since I can show this cool looking demo screen now, which is my first working piece of NES code ever!

Everything I know about NES programming I learned from these places:

Hi there!
When I'm not youtubing bands I already know, I'm myspacing bands I don't know
These two I found when browsing the "friends" list of Lacrimosa (one of my favourite German bands):
1. Snakeskin => http://www.myspace.com/snakeskinofficial
=> Electro / Gothic / Industrial
Actually a Lacrimosa sideproject that happened under my radar so far. The two example tunes they showcase on myspace are brilliant dark electro club tunes. I like how they got spiced up by a pro
Hi there!Shock & horror, I just had to discover that my H.E.R.O. cartridge is no longer working properly :sad:Most of the time it'll just do some rolling garbage, but the weird thing is, it will eventually stabilize and play. But when it plays, it'll have various glitches appearing, like flicker in certain areas, or wrong colors in others. The screen will shake and roll in certain situations and after a while the game will just lock-up in weird states. Just as if the content of certain bits
Hi there!
Television was yesterday, today I'm watching more stuff on Youtube:
1. TOBUSCUS
His "LITERAL" Trailers never get old. He's simply replacing the audio track of official trailers with his own. Sounds lame, but has to be seen, that guy is a genious. My favorite is this one:

(Absolutely check out his spoof Facebook commercials for e.g. Farmville as well!)
2. Hot For Words
Learning never was so much fun. The idea is easy
Hi there!
Another Park Patrol riddle has been solved! Remember me reporting that the "used" half of the first bank of the game mostly contained alternating $FF and $00 pages?
Believe it or not, but after all the fuss of getting those 4K extracted from the cartridge, some lines of code further down the road - it get's just completely overwritten with zeros!
Kinda disturbing. There you have a commercially released game of 1984 coming on a 32K cartridge with 4 8K banks, one of which i
Hi there!
Based on the feedback from the "failed" experiment, here's two new Galaxy Wars experiments. They both narrow the screen to have only 4 objects visible.
This one does 9 Pixel wide attackers with missiles:

This one does 9 Pixel wide attackers with flicker:

Serious offer: If anyone would be interested to try a 1K or 2K compo entry based on these, feel free to do so. I'm not sure if I'll ever continue here, there's way too

Hi there!
I started this mission in early in 2011 and now have a first milestone covered: I'm done with the first 10 games!
What follows is the list of games I'm already done with, adding a few comments to each. What is true for all of them, is that I beat each on the default difficulty and without cheating. I did use stuff like built-in auto fire and continues though. For the games played through the "Capcom Classics Collection" I additionally unlocked all available extras.

Hi there!
Since r_type2600 mentioned "Eisbär" last week, I thought it'd make sense to dig out another early work of Stephan Eicher for you. The "Noise Boys" tape was recorded on just a standard cassette recorder and it's pure genious. It's been made available as bonus tracks on the CD version of Eichers debut album "La Chanson Bleue", a total must have. Anyway, here is MiniMiniMiniMinijupe (plus an easter egg ):

Hi there!Phew... now with the minigame contest being finished for 2005, the fun thing begins: Playing the games! While most were available for a long time already, I prefer to go through them in two big blocks (1K & 4K) at once, so I can all compare them against each other. Today was a day "off" in Germany, so I had enough time to go through all 1K mini game submissions.I rarely really like a 1K game. It seems too much of a compromise usually. No music, no fx, no scoring, no state display, no

Hi there!
Time for the quarterly update!
Since I've mentioned a couple of games in the previous entry that I'm done with already, I'll just list them without further ado from now on.
The games I'm done with: Wii Sports, Zelda TP
The rest of my Wii collection:
Excite Truck => Lots of fun for a while. I played far enough to unlock Super Excite Truck. I'll probably leave it at that, since it got a bit repetetive from then on.
Metal Slug Anthology => I beat all 7 games
Hi there!
I usually have one current system running which I'm buying new games for every once in a while. The last gen system doing the job for me was the GBA, for which I bought 20 titles during its lifetime. I also had a Cube, but AFAIR I actually never bought a game for it.
So from this current generation I chose the Wii.
The games I have so far:
Wii Sports => Obviously, as it came with the system. Other than occasionally showing Tennis to someone, I'm done with it.
