Rated-X Gaming Episode 1: Alpha and 177

Welcome to the first episode of my blog's latest YT episodic series and it's called Rated-X Gaming. I had plenty of names to chose from but this one stuck out. Other potential names were: NSFW Gaming, Too Hot For Public Viewing, Ecchicon's Paradise (because I am an Ecchicon deal with it), and Maximum Xposure as a jab at one of mom and aunt Pan's old nicks.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqe5cKjE098 - 177. The code 177 is the Japanese code for rape and the role you play is that of a rapist

1.21 Gigawatts of Gaming Ep. 5: Japanese Punch-Out Games

Today's episode brings us some rare Japanese Punch Out games. I call these rare because let's start off with Punch Out for example: It was made before Mike Tyson's Punch Out and was given away as a prize for a Golf Game thus it is called the Gold Edition. Notice how the last boss is Super Macho Man and the passwords are totally different. All the tricks still worked in the later versions everyone got to play. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nXbUF4lEnAQ Next we got Super Punch Out for SNES. I

Hidden Mr. Dream dodge sprite from Punch Out NES

For the record, I call this a hidden sprite rather than an unused sprite because each fighter in Punch Out actually has a dodge sprites to avoid uppercuts except for King Hippo of course. But to those who don't dodge uppercuts so often, Glass Joe, Great Tiger, and Mike Tyson do dodge uppercuts. It was discovered that Glass Joe will dodge uppercuts after the 6th uppercut connects. Putting the theory for others to the test, the same happens to the other two as well. All three of them have been sho

1.21 Gigawatts of Gaming Ep. 6: Birth of Squaresoft (Square Enix)

Before Final Fantasy ever became a thought, it started out with two hardcore games. While these and future games sold poorly, they did play a role in the development of Final Fantasy. It was named that because the main developer was going to quit the industry if it had flopped but lo and behold, it was a success and the series was born.   The first two square games released were Death Trap followed by Will: Death Trap 2. Death Trap 1 has two paths.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLzx0NEz4

1.21 Gigawatts of Gaming Episode 2: Mega Man Gameboy Quintology

After a longoff, back with another episode of 1.21GoG and today we are going to look at the five Mega Man games that came out on the Nintendo Gameboy and for amusement, the games are in their original green monochrome for realness purposes. Much like my mother Ice Queen X(treme)/Ice T. Gressa played Ninja Gaiden 3 in the previous episode as a special guest, the fifth and final game is played by aunt Pan aka Ember Queen X(otic)/Panterror Flames as a special guest.   https://www.youtube.com/watc

PyxelEdit is a good program for making tiles, backgrounds and animating

It's still in its beta form but with this program you can make backgrounds and tilesets for the games. Check out the work I did on Mega Man 2 Gameboy Metal Man and Crash Man stages. Note that the colors used were how they would've appeared if Mega Man Anniversary Collection had been released on the GBA. I achieved this by assigning the tiles to 16x16 then each different tile I saw, I assigned it a number and that's like making a tile stamp. Whenever you edit a tile, all other tiles assigned to t

1.21 Gigawatts of Gaming Ep.1: Ninja Gaiden NES trilogy

In addition to Homebrew YouTube Exposure, I got another blog series to add to the fold. This one will include non-homebrew games that mostly came out before me, my sisters, and in some cases our parents were born or old enough to understand gaming. There will be modern games too but as far as Wii, PS2, and maybe Xbox but the latter is a longshot. This includes lots of Atari, Nintendo, and Sega games and even as far back as stuff like Channel F and Odyssey 2. What better way to get the ball rolli

1.21 Gigawatts of Gaming Ep. 7: Ghouls N' Ghosts saga

This does not include Ultimate Ghouls N' Ghosts for the Sony PSP. These are the first three games released for the series: Ghosts N' Goblins for the NES, Ghouls N' Ghosts for the Sega Genesis and Super Ghouls N' Ghosts for the SNES. None of these are by me. Ghosts N' Goblins by Roja Calor/Captain Caliente, Ghouls N' Ghosts by Kage Negra/Tiggy Smalls, and Super Ghouls N' Ghosts by Azul Fria/Ice Queen Zero. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ceQ0iudHxjg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJ2rzTRUEG8

Homebrew Youtube Exposure Ep.2: Princess Rescue, Cyber Willy and Uppa Creek!

Three more Atari 2600 to check out in real action   http://youtu.be/PGRlKQf27VY Princess Rescue played by Roja Calor/Captain Caliente   A total of 16 levels (4 stages divided into 4 subsections). Created as a tribute to Super Mario Bros but a C&D letter put an end to all selling of the actual cartridge. It can be tough at some points like overjumping or not jumping far enough and falling to your death either way. You get extra lives by getting a 1-up mushroom or collecting 32 coins wort

(Sarcasm) What's the best way to commit matricide? My eyes they bleed.

With the super blood moon out, mom decided to play an old dirty trick on me. I won't say what it was but those who can think of a bloody "moon" probably know what I'm talking about. It was an old email from before my time that she forwarded to me so I got caught off guard.   The good ol flush the toilet while she is showering has been done already by one of my sisters a few years back and the funniest part about it was that mom was singing "Loving You" by Minnie Rippington and she waited till

1.21 Gigawatts of Gaming Ep. 8: Batman (Famicom)

Notice how I said Famicom and not NES. Here is a small little tidbit about the Japanese version of Batman aside from the fact that it came out first. When you watch the video, you will notice that the music in stage 1 is the music in stage 2 for the NES and vice versa. That seems to be the only difference. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_Ec6E-nAK4 Gameplay by Kage Negra/Tiggy Smalls

Dad once told me about a message board that is just like Neverland.

I checked it out recently and he is damn right. It's a spot where he, mom, and to a lesser extent maternal aunt used to frequent in the early 2000s and it's full of immature, know-it-all, elitist fucks. I will not name the board but damn these people are pushing their 30s and 40s and they still act like children to this day. They fucking need to grow up. I am still a pre-teen myself but I never use that excuse to act so childish as these people. When I'm around a bunch of adults like this place

Almost had the steal of a century.

There is a local pawn shop I sometimes visit and today I saw what looked to be a rare game and it was Robin Hood for the Colecovision. I looked online and saw it was a 7 on the rarity sale according to colecovisionzone and I asked how much were the Colecovision games since he had quite a bit of CV and 2600 games I figured he didn't know what he had. Thus I thought he may ask for 25 cents a game. Wrong was I. He looked it up and saw it went for a bit on eBay and thus it should be on eBay soon. As

Brainstorming some homebrewing ideas.

HYE is on hold right now. Currently I'm reading up on designing games with Visual bAtari since I got a spiked interest in making some. Ideas I got in mind and what to put in it.   Tour de France (Atari 2600/VCS) - cycling game where I'm debating on making it racing or obstacle avoidance and it would include an Atari rendition of Tour De France by Kraftwerk   Maze of Hell (Atari 2600/VCS) - maze game where you are a small dot trying to escape the maze made out of fire (walls that cycle throug

Homebrew Youtube Exposure Ep.3: KO Cruiser

Don't know why my last entry disappeared but it may have had something to do with the 403 from earlier.   Earlier I said that I had planned this to be a 3-vid episode but decided to make it 1 and that was K.O. Cruiser   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tq0-oetc9Zg&feature=c4-overview&list=UU3j2VCt0q1ldL3NeM-n7nMg Gameplay by Kage Negra/Tiggy Smalls   Brought to you by the same developer who made AVGN KO Boxing and the gameplay is the same, you go through a series of unknown characte

Homebrew Youtube Exposure Ep. 4: Atari 7800 homebrews Part 1.

It's been a long time since my last episode of Homebrew Youtube Exposure. Been busy with school and all that jazz.   Today's episode is a big one with 4 Atari 7800 games: Pac Man, Jr. Pac Man, Beef Drop, and Santa Simon. I didn't take part in any of the vids. Kage Negra/Tiggy Smalls did the Pac Man games and got more Pac Man games on her agenda for a future episode of HYT and Roja Calor/Captain Caliente did the other two. I might do at least one homebrew for the system in a future episode mayb

3 more hurdles and Project KOF Kyo English is a go to commence.

After some extensive testing, We managed to get a few things working with turning the games Japanese text into English using Windhex but now we have come across 2 major hurdles and 1 minor one. The first one is getting the text size small. Using the text as it is will be too big of the letters and it will crash the game. The minor issue is related to the 1st major as the game will crash in certain spots if I change too much. 2nd major issue is the file size. The original bin size is 659 MB even

1.21 Gigawatts of Gaming Episode 13: Secret level in Alpha Mission NES no one seems to know about.

Before I was born, mom once made a mini guide for Alpha Mission for the NES. In it, she mentioned that there was a playable Area 13 which you will fight the bosses in a boss rush. Nowhere else on the net has there been any mention of it. Not even on YouTube till now. At around 23:23 you will see a playable Area 13. Defeating the Area 12 boss the conventional way will display Area 13 then jump to Area 1 immediately. https://youtu.be/oz0VrI0ya0Q?t=1403 Gameplay by Chigura "Kage Negra/Tiggy Smal

Homebrew Youtube Exposure Ep.1: Katamari and AVGN KO Boxing

theloon had gave me an idea of bringing some exposure to some homebrew on Youtube whether good or bad. I already had gotten started with AVGN K.O. Boxing   http://youtu.be/txtWrScdySg - Katamari played by Ice Queen Zero/Azul Fria   The object of the game here is to gather 10 objects to go to the next screen or it is game over. Then you got to avoid being struck by lightning or else the game will end. After you survive the lightning onslaught, a planet is created. Hold the button and press do
