Again with the neighbors....

So again with complaining neighbors, one of them was going on about my garbage getting on peoples lawns. I agree, thats a valid complaint but I put my garbage in the CAN so sorry buddy, bark up another tree. I ignored him until I noticed he was right, squirrels had chewed a hole through my garbage can and were littering garbage about the neighborhood. I had the city bring a replacement lid, twice and within a week they had chewed through again and my garbage had become everyone's business. The t

This just in...Texas Instruments!

Another request from a video game enthusiast, a TI logo This one was a lot of fun as it had a lot of radius areas on the main logo piece I had to draw in Autocad. I love practicing radius drawings and its tough to do without some kind of end goal in mind. When a forum member asked if I could make a TI sign I couldn't quite remember how the logo looked (I haven't seen a TI-99 in over 20 years, lol) When I saw the main logo area had a lot of radius areas I got to work immediately   To be

Pinball fun...

Anyone who knows me in real life usually ends up with something metal, and in this case both figuratively and literally Sometimes at work when I have a long wait time for a part to finish I will just start drafting things up in autocad for my friends gamerooms/etc..   This time around I made a few custom signs for my serious pinball buddies. These guys drop 4k plus on a new pinball machine, and I know them, they are not rich...thats dedication and passion for a hobby. It's fun to make them

Chicken, Fight like a Robot!

This was my next project.....BERZERK!!   A buddy of mine and fellow arcade enthusiast suggested I make a Berzerk wall set. Although I have never owned a Berzerk arcade machine (at least not a working complete one) I did play Berzerk a LOT in the arcade and also on my Atari 2600   I can still remember winning a Raffle in grade school and getting $25 in cash! I immediately splurged and spent it in one day, lol. My purchases included a 2 liter of Jolt cola, a bag of Doritos, a John Blackstar a

Intellivision Copter Command!

When I was able to help make a pack in for a new Intellivision game I was pretty excited! I had the option of two games, Brick out and Copter Command. I really drew a blank with Brickout, I could only come up with, well, a brick, lol. I had some better "ideas" of course but the limitations of my machine ruled out astronauts and other awesome fantasy art...I started drawing a planet but it just seemed to far of a stretch. Copter Command though seemed very doable, an aluminum cut out of the copter

Jed, Tex and Rex Guardians of the lawn....

These are my lawn Cowboys....Jed, Rex and Tex. I heard a neighbor make a snide comment about my lawn (it's not that bad really) so I decided to make it as fun as possible while making my neighbor cringe even more. Whenever I get a nice chunk of free material that I don't have any better use for I cut a lawn cowboy out of it. Soon my Lawn will be a full on Dude ranch...take that! Your move fussy lawn lady... Jed enjoying a quiet summer day... My latest one is a full six feet tall! (Rex) Ye

Lets see whats on Channel F...

This one was a spur of the moment thing. I have never even played a Fairchild Channel F system but I have always been a bit fascinated with it. My only nostalgia of this system is seeing Rusty "eat" the family Truckster in Vacation with some weird video game system. Turns out this was a Fairchild Channel F. Who knows, had I investigated a little further maybe I would have tracked one down and had some authentic nostalgia with it. The Channel F even has homebrews available for it so someone remem

Official Atariage logo!

I have always wanted to do this one, just never had a good color match. The blue would be too dark or the white would look grey but then one day we machined the parts for a Ford dealership and I had enough left over materials to crank out about a dozen AA logo's with the proper colors. Overall turned out pretty good I would say Looks great with my Statue of Liberty neon next to my Homebrews!

Thunder...Thunder...Thundercats...Hooooo!

Just another one of those childhood images that haunts my brain! The Thundercats logo This is another one of those shows I wasn't really obsessed over or anything but enjoyed. I never went as far as collecting any of it, I don't think I even owned any of the toys back in the 80's but I do remember the TV show quite well and can instantly zap myself back in time by hearing the intro! In tribute to this iconic cartoon of the 80's I made a logo for my garage!     This was a fun one because I

The Space Invaders

My First Project was a Space Invaders set. It all started when I was laying on the floor of my arcade (long story involving a gyruss marathon, lol) but I was looking up at how plain my ceiling looked. Just plain white Fiberboard tiles with various nicks and scuffs from when a pool table had been down there years ago. I always wanted my basement to have that arcade feel, that no matter where you looked you would forget it was a basement and get lost in the nostalgia. Looking back at things, most

....because I can....chase the chuckwagon!

This is a Chase the Chuckwagon sign. No real reason behind it, I have zero nostalgia with this game unless you count early collecting nostalgia. The gameplay on it does not tickle my fancy. I guess I just made it because I can? It's another sign that uses a lot of pieces, around 8 total I believe. I wanted to make the full purina logo in the background but the shape of the Dog made it look weird so I went with a 2/3 style background.   I suppose I could have tried the sitting dog style and g

Super Mario mystery block ?

Who doesn't like Super mario! I wasn't going to make any mario stuff because it is so overdone and honestly others have done it much better than I ever could but I had an idea a while back that I wanted to finish. I used to own a Super mario pinball machine and I really like pinball toppers. I thought it would be a great idea to make a mystery box topper! Who doesn't love the mystery box, whats it going to be? A mushroom, fire flower...a coin? You don't know until you smash it with your head (or

What time is it? BURGERTIME!

Ah, Burgertime...just looking at the side of this arcade machine can transport me back in time decades. Great game that appeared on just about every platform as well. This is one I would not have attempted normally, but my buddy IntellivisionDude mentioned he would like a Burgertime related sign for his gameroom to accompany his INTV Brotherhood sign.   Heres a little secret about me, I can't turn down a request...it might not get done right away but when I know someone likes my stuff enough t

I want MSX!

I really want one of these systems, bad!! The problem is they seem to be as rare as hens teeth here in the states and I have no idea what to pay for one, or even what model to get, arghhhhhhh!!!!!   The homebrew scene is quite active for it though, so someway, somehow, someday I will have one!   This was a special request from a MSX fan. He asked if I could just make a simple sign with the MSX logo. The logo colors are typically white and black for the MSX but I switched the white to brushed

A gift for a friend (GNZ) Colecovision

Ghosts n Goblins...Ghouls n Ghosts....ahhh... one of my absolute FAVORITE game series ever made. I remember pumping away quarter after quarter playing GnG in the arcade and walking around for hours collecting aluminum cans to cash in and purchase it for the NES (Not to mention washing cars, selling lemonade, mowing lawns, etc...) I was seriously almost in tears when I got to Sears and they told me they no longer carried it (these were the days before Funco/etc) Luckily I was able to find one eve

The Neo Geo Dev Team

Man do I love the Neo Geo Dev teams Homebrew games...you can hardly call them homebrews being how professional and polished the releases are and the fact that the systems they make them for are probably the most active discontinued systems out there. I contacted them to see if I could make a pack in for there next game Razion. I machined a cut out of there mascot logo out of Bright silver metallic aluminum composite and then carved the Japanese text for Razion in the center. They LOVED it but...

Hmmm...Triforce? No, too easy....

I like Nintendo, mainly NES. Although Atari 2600 is my favorite system of all time but I have a lot of great memories with the NES. From pretending to be sick from school to grind away hours of my life with RPG's to competing in the Nintendo World Championships Nintendo was a big part of my youth and even early adult years. Thanks to the Wii I have even more Nintendo memories with my new family members So yeah, I like Nintendo   I wanted to make something from the NES era, but the thing is,

The Adventure 2600 Metal Book!

This all started when a friend of mine requested a metal Book for a project. At first I thought it would be impossible with the machines and materials I have access to but after a few tries I came up with a design that seems to work well and capture the look of a "metal book"   I used a thin professionally painted deep bronze 0.040 Sheet metal aluminum for the cover, then CNC etched graphics on it and the spline. Using a V cutter I made a groove on the edges to bend it around the "pages" (I ma

Commodore Chicken Lips...

One day while machining parts for a Fire station that consisted of Red, White and blue I had an idea that was a no brainer....a Commodore logo! I just love this logo and no other system (that I never owned back in the day) gives me the nostalgia this one does, especially just looking at the logo. Thats right, I never owned a Commodore growing up. I wanted a C64 badly but my parents figured I was just a little too young to spend that kind of dough on a "calculator" which yes, besides gaming is pr

The topper that never was...

I'm a big fan of many Taito arcade games. Although I have owned very few, I have wanted many! I was going to get one of those programmable Taito multi boards that were all the rage a few years back and I thought I would make a fun little arcade machine topper to go with it. I had a real thick and durable funky orange color that seemed perfect for the job. Well, long story short the material I set aside to make some of these with was "accidentally" thrown in the recycle dumpster and only these tw

Camp Major Havoc - Join up Now!

Ahh...Major Havoc...I can remember...hmmm...wait a minute, yeah I don't really have a big nostalgia buzz for this one. Although the game was made by Atari it is a bit obscure, or at the least uncommon.   I made a Major Havoc "fantasy" style sign since the game seems to have quite a bit of an underground popularity to it these days. I decided to go with a "Starship Troopers" style fantasy world for this project. I wanted to get that "Join up now" feeling that Starship Troopers had, where everyb

The Intelligentvision Oopsie...

When I was making the INTV Brotherhood signs, pillar of the Intellivision Brotherhood Rev asked if I could make an additional sign for him that said "Intelligentvision" I wanted to make it a little different so it wasn't exactly like the other one and went with a bright and shiny 5005 sheet aluminum. I also made the sign a little slimmer to compensate for the removed text (one line instead of two) Seeing as it was a little bit of drafting and set up work I decided to make a few extras (4 total)

KAHN games the NES homebrew king :)

Although Atari 2600 is my baby, I do really enjoy the NES. I collected for that system very heavily in the late 90's, early 00's (if only I would have kept everything I would be rich!! Famous last words of a collector, lol) The NES really has a decent Homebrew scene as well, and one of my favorite programmer/publishers is a company called KAHN games. He made a Game called Study Hall that me and my daughter played religiously for months straight. Well, since I tend to "make something" for everyth

Go JOE!

*SIGH.... Sometimes I wonder why I am the way I am. I wonder why these things from the past have such an impact on me. Is it possible the new stuff out today is just as good but I'm not giving it a chance? Am I so stubborn that I immediately dismiss anything new as "garbage" and rant about how cool the 80's were. Probably...honestly I should accept these days are gone, but I know I never will, lol.   Having young children has opened my mind a bit. Some of my best childhood memories I have are
