I think 2005 was a record for the fewest movies I saw in a theatre, and only one of them appears in your list. Here then is my top 5.

1. Kung Fu Hustle

2. House of Flying Daggers

3. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

4. Corpse Bride

5. Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith

Hi there!

1. Kung Fu Hustle

2. House of Flying Daggers

Uihjah... actually I just bought the HoFD DVD. Was that already in 2005? Then it should obviously be in my list as well :D

I also liked Kung Fu Hustle. So OTT that it almost qualified for a "real-life" version of Dragonball-Z :)

Greetings,

Manuel

Flying Daggers was released in 2004 for most of Asia, and 2005 for both of our countries. I counted it as 2005 since that was the first chance I got to see it.

4. Corpse Bride

I liked the movie, but I still can't see how anyone gave it the green light. I can't imagine anyone who wasn't a die-hard fan of Tim Burton's stop-motion animation wanting to go see it based upon the previews.

Hi there!

Seen Syriana? A little more cerebral than most of your picks, but... I liked it :)

Hm... not yet... I think it hasn't been localised for Germany yet. Same with "Domino" and "Corpse Bride" and the "Underworld" sequel, I hope we get all these sometime soon :D

Greetings,

Manuel

Syriana and Underworld Evolution are indeed scheduled for late february / early march. With Corpse Bride you are out of luck though. This one came out two month ago. I suppose you'll have to wait for the DVD release.

But don't be sad. The good news is that Domino came out last week, and that it is even showing in Augsburg this week. And on top of all this it's Kinotag today! So how fast can you find a babysitter? :D

BTW, I use www.filmstarts.de for finding German movie release dates.

Cool, thanks for the info!

Oha...

... "problem" here is, that we no longer reside in Augsburg central. We live 20 minutes outside in Königsbrunn now, having a large garden and an extra room for Helena. So instead of living right between Cinestar and Cinemaxx, all we have around the block now is the Hollyworld with a meager 5 areas. They only get the bigger names and blockbusters there :D

But...

And on top of all this it's Kinotag today! So how fast can you find a babysitter? :)

... of course I can drive into the city and see stuff there, so thanks for the tip! I still simply miss certain movies, because I'm not aware that they're already running, like for example Land of the Dead which only ran for a week...

BTW, I use www.filmstarts.de for finding German movie release dates.

... so thanks for that as well :)

BTW: Just remembered another brill movie I saw in 2005: "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou" (=> Die Tiefseetaucher), though I think it possibly was a 2004 title in the U.S. :)

If you liked that movie (which I did, it's one of my favorites) you should check out "The Royal Tennenbaums" if you haven't already. It's written and directed by the same people (Owen Wilson helped write it) and has a lot of the same actors. Good stuff.

Oh! When will it be on there?

NOW :| :| ;)

You almost missed it, but they will repeat in tonight at 3:50. You better program your VCR now.

Oha! Let's see if I find an empty/erasable cassette...

Can't you guys say that at least some minutes _before_ it starts? ;) :|
