The Death of the DS
Something I've been dreading for a few years now will happen soon. "Disney's Planes" will be released August 6. This will be the last DS game released. And even though I will probably never see the movie in my lifetime, I will get the game, to mark the sad end to the DS's life. Right now I'm wondering why FIFA Soccer 14 will not be on the DS, yet it will be on the PS2. Strange. To show support, I dug out some DS games and played the system. I played a little bit of Mario Kart DS and New Super Mario Bros. I also played Crosswords Plus on 3DS. I should dig out Crosswords DS on the DS and play that. Right now I have 176 games for the DS. I had forgotten, but I was reminded of the fact that I wanted to get to at least 200. I guess now is the time to do that, seeing as how all the DS games will be a lot cheaper. I have most of the "must have" titles, most of them unopened. I don't know why I like the DS games so much. I guess it was a good idea at the time, nothing back in 2004 had two screens and one of them being touch sensitive. It was a time that Nintendo ditched the Game Boy name, although I don't know why they didn't just call it the Game Boy DS. But now it's almost nine years later, and the DS system had a good run. Not many games were released in 2012, and even fewer in 2013. But I will still play my DS, just as I do all the other handhelds I have, it's just sad to see it move from being "new and hip" to "somewhat retro."
