OK, so I bought this little handheld dealy with overlays. My mind works in overdrive. What if I were to make a new overlay, with story, essentially making a new game? Well, I thought about it. The games on it are Basketball, Ice Hockey and Soccer. The handheld hasn't come yet, but I assume it's from the '80s. So I thought about it without even seeing how the game works yet. What can I make a game out of that is similar to those three sports? Granted, everything I will make for this handheld will be similar to those three sports, I assume that's just how the machine works, it wasn't meant for some guy 30 years later to make new overlays for. But you know how weird I am about stuff like this. I even thought up of a backstory for the game:

"A giant robot is causing great chaos on the planet. Some guy subdued the robot by the time you've arrived, but as it turns out the robot needs to be filled to the brim with discs for it to break. Armed with only you and your mighty discs, your job is to break the robot before the other guy does."

Sounds like basketball, doesn't it? I might even make a comic about it. What's more, I bet the size of the handheld will allow me to put more than one overlay on a piece of 8.5x11 inch overlay sheet, allowing less cost for producing sheets. But the only trouble is: WHO HAS ONE OF THESE, and who would buy this new game?

Learning from the Odyssey Dodgeball game I made (I still have about 10 unsold copies out in the garage), I doubt even less people have one of these than they do an Odyssey. So I'll make 5 of these once the handheld arrives and I have a moment to see if my idea is even going to work on this thing. If not, I'll make another idea or adapt the idea I have so it WILL work on this thing. So right now the story is basically a reverse Pac-Man (I don't want to use the Pac-Man name) where instead of controlling Pac-Man, you control the dots to feed him with.

I guess the moral of this story is I love handheld '80s games and I don't have enough of them.
