My novel
Something, I don't know what, prompted me to get out my Atari Jaguar. I have a nice little collection, 25 games in all, but I suddenly crave more. But what's odd is that I've never seen a gray Jaguar cart until yesterday. I didn't even know they made them. All my carts are black. So now my Jaguar and Dreamcast are on the floor. I finished writing that novel I wanted to make. It took me a few years, but I did it. Now I want to make another gross story. Why did I make my novel gross? Back in the mid 1990s, I was a kid and this book series called Barf-O-Rama came out. On the back of #15 it says something to the effect of "look for #16 coming soon" I did. And I still am, 17 years later. I don't even know if it exists, I've never seen a picture of the cover or anything, but I do know through my internet research it has an ISBN number. I don't know if that's proof it exists or not. So anyway, I wrote my own #16. Mine is 112 pages long, about the size of the originals, and has about 19,600 words. Just for fun, I thought I should try and publish a few copies. It lacks cover art, though. I shrunk the pages in Word to match the size of a page of the original book series. There are a bazillion projects I do to entertain myself with. This is one of them. I'm thinking about holding a "make a cover for my book" contest where the winner gets a free book that I wrote. In case you're wondering, you have to be a really good artist, because the previous ones are drawings that look almost photo-esque. (Sneak a look at the art here: http://www.atari2600land.com/barforama/.) And of course, you have to know what the story is in order to make a cover, so I've posted the thing here: http://www.atari2600land.com/barforama/hairysnotter.pdf
Although I said it took two years to write, I didn't work on it for two years off and on. I just wrote a chapter about once every month or whenever I felt like it. I had ten chapters done and wanted to quit, but I forced myself to keep working on it, so I finally completed 4 chapters' worth in the span of one chapter per day. I know I shouldn't keep the books any more or even care now that I'm grown up, but that period of my life kinda sucked so I tended to keep what brought me joy then. Plus, I guess it has to be adults to write kid lit. I mean, Ms. Rowling wasn't 10 years old when she wrote Harry Potter, right?
