NFL Sunday Ticket without satellite

If true, this might help some people sitting on the fence decide to cut the cord.

No official announcement has been made, but a promotional page for the new offering has appeared at NFLSundayTicket.tv. The company says viewing will be limited to out-of-market games when it begins on Sept. 7, but the popular Red Zone channel is included.

...

A $199.99 subscription will grant access via Sunday Ticket apps on mobile devices and personal computers, while access on gaming consoles will require a $239.99 subscription. The most expensive tier, at $329.99, combines the two and adds access to Red Zone and the new Fantasy Zone channel.

Seems to me, that since they play 1/10 the number of games that MLB does, their service should cost 1/10 as much.

Agreed. Last year, I called to talk about the free Sunday Ticket for new subscribers. I have been with DirecTV for about 15 years and I get nothing? They gave it to me for free. I just had to remember to call after the season was over to cancel the auto renew.

Seems they're doing at in test markets this year. You have to either:

  • Live in the New York, Philadelphia or San Francisco metro areas
  • attend a select university*
  • or live in a "select apartment building" (no list, have to supply address to see)

* University of Washington, University of Texas at Austin, University of Southern California, University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, University of Florida, University of Colorado at Boulder, University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa, Syracuse University, Ohio State University or Harvard University
